I'm from a big family. I've been big all my life. I've been on diet after diet. I've been a member of a few gyms. I've ridden on a weight loss roller coaster for at least the past 15 years. I lose weight and then I gain back more than I lost. That's what I do. That's what I've always done... until NOW. I have an amazing husband who is completely supportive of my decision, an amazing 5 year old little boy and as of Feb 25, 2013 a beautiful daughter. When I got pregnant with my son it was a surprise. There was no "trying" to it, he just happened. After a few years we started "trying" to get pregnant with a second child and weren't able to. Then it hit me. I was about 90 pounds heavier when we were trying than I was when I got pregnant with our son. I talked to my OB/GYN who was all for me losing weight and who thought that WLS would be a good idea. According to him and my surgeon, neither had had any patients with problems during pregnancy that had WLS so there I was. I went through the process of doing everything my insurance required for approval and got it with no trouble. I was scheduled for surgery on July 27, 2012. A friend of mine had been telling me she thought I was pregnant but I was certain I was not. June 22, 2012 I took a pregnancy test so that she would leave me alone and I could go on being excited about my upcoming surgery. Well, she was right. Basically one month prior to the surgery that I was planning on having so that I could be healthy when I got pregnant and I find out that my surgery was off because I was pregnant. The whole thing was so bittersweet. I was excited about being pregnant but heart broken over not being able to have surgery. I finally came around and accepted the fact that surgery was not off but just on hold. through my pregnancy, I was healthy and I am so thankful for that. My delivery was a normal delivery, and she weighed 9 pounds 13 oz. I had gained a total of 22 pounds through my pregnancy but as of a week after having her I was down 23 pounds and the scale has continued to move down since. I saw my surgeon on March 6 and was scheduled for surgery March 25. I had sugery when my daughter was 4 weeks old and I am so glad that I did. I couldn't have made a better decision for myself or my family. I am still on this journey and will be for the rest of my life. I am super excited for my future with my family as a healthier wife and mommy! I can not wait to see what my future holds with this exciting journey I am on. I am blessed already and I am excited to see how God is going to use this in my life!
