Well I am new at this but here I go....I had my first lap-band surgery in Sept. 2005. I was at 365 lbs and after 1 year I lost 155 lbs. That sounds great and it was but something was terribly wrong. I started getting really weak and the couldn't keep even water down.If I laid down at night I would vomit up black stuff that no one could explain.( sorry for ugly details.) So in Feb.2006, I had my band replaced. The doctor said that my band had slipped and was pinching part of my liver. Well for some reason I didn't do as well with my second band. After that I did well for a while and then it just stopped working. I had fill after fill and I never felt any restriction so then I started gaining my weight back. After gaining 100 lbs back I knew I needed to do something else. I talked with my doctor and he agreed that the band was not working and that the sleeve would really work better for me. On April 11, 2012 I had the band removed and the sleeve done. It was really not so bad and I was happy to be on my way to lossing again. I lost 20 lbs my first three weeks, got off my blood pressure meds than completely stalled. I was getting so depressed. I started gaining and was swelling up like a plump pickle. I called the doctor crying,telling him I was doing everything I knew was right to do but this just wasn't right. He said that I was retaining water and a lasix about 3 times a week should help. I started those and I am now down 36 lbs. I am feeling great and have so much more energy.No one said this would be easy but it is so worth it.
