    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I am suppose to be starting my pre-op officially on the 23rd, however I am anticipating having a great deal of difficulty so I am preparing to start working on getting this down tomorrow. I figured 1. its not going to hurt to start sooner (may hurt me a great deal, but won't hurt my outcome) 2.It gives me a few extra days to try to get the hang of things. 3. This diet can make you come out stronger on the other side. The cons/fears: 1. I will become moody with the extra days of diet (who am I kidding, your taking all my food away, moody is just the first step of things) 2.I will probably loose control of everything ( there is great fear I will mess up) 3. My kids may start looking delicious to me. (you know what if animal instincts take over..lol--lets hope I can keep the drooling to a minimum) 4. Moody has just been replaced with something much worse ( I start flying my broom about this time) Yep, I do believe my family is going to need all the support they can get as I embark on this pre-op journey. I wish them all the best!! I teased hubby jokingly the other night when He said he would help me through this phase. I said Oh I hope you survive this, that I see you on the other side, and that your still my husband after seeing how bad it can get!!. Thankfully I have a very humorous husband. He said good thing I am working, and when I am not I can go hunting. I think that just meant, Good luck baby, Text or call when its safe to come home.. As far as protein powders. I have samples of unjury that I will be trying. i refused to spend money without knowing if I like them. I did buy the Jillian Michaels Vanilla Cream whey protein. Its ok, not the best, but in all honesty I am not a big fan of vanilla but bought it cause it gave me options for flavoring in other flavors.

Can't Make Up My Mind......kinda Long

There are some people who will completely detest Mexico, but as long as you do your research you will be fine. I myself am going to mexico in 20 days. Just using a different doctor. I had the same struggles from my parents. My husband is in law enforcement and is urged to not go across the border, but we have done our research well. Dr. Kelly is a great doctor. Alot of patients use him. I say as long as you feel comfortable with your research, with the doctor, and with mexico I see nothing wrong with it. There is a Mexico forum where you can read other people who have went out of the US for their surgeries. I have to say though, no matter where you go you will always find atleast one person who thinks you will be making a mistake going to Mexico. Whether it be family, friends, or people on here. However despite how some people may feel on here ( this forum) we are all here to support each other no matter the decision they've made. Not everyone has insurance, or the money to self pay in the states. Just hold your head high if this is the choice you make, and stick to it. Don't let anyone push you down. Best of luck in your journey. Keep us updated.

What To Take - Modified For Mexico?

This is some information off the TSA website All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in 3.4 ounce (100ml) or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be 3.4 ounces (100ml) or smaller. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items. The laptop can be carreid on, but sometimes difficult to open, use, as far as comfortability. I have not had my surgery yet, but I did fly to SanDiego to watch my Brother in law graduate the Marines. My flights were 1.5-2 hours long. Now this was the first time ever for me on a plane. (small town, dirt road, country girl here) All my flights had tvs in the back of the headrest of person in front of you. I am not real sure on the fees, but you can swipe your card to watch tv from movies, to regular stations suce as abc, nbc, cbs. etc. Now to save money i assume you are allowed to watch movies on laptop as long as you wait til they approve you to turn your components on. I just found the seats and space limited.

    Coughing

Sometimes people get a slight cough after surgery from being intubated. Coughing when needed is a good thing, it strengthens the lungs back up.. Kinda like using a spirometer. Holding a small pillow to your stomach while coughing will greatly ease some of the discomfort. Hope you feel better soon and congrats on your sleeve.

    Freaking Out......

I can relate to the sleepless anxious nights. The closer I get to the 6th the worse they get. Right after I decided this is what I wanted I didnt sleep well for weeks, Then things started slowing down and sleep was entering my life again. That was until I received my surgery date. Now there are times I lay away staring at the ceiling pondering all the great things going through my head. Other times when I am sleeping, i am constantly dreaming of the soon to be New Me. I wish you all the best in this journey, and I truly hope sleep will find you again.

    Yum!

I agree. I am a sucker for cheescakes. I swear I see several everytime I look at my butt in the mirror. This just may turn into heaven for a sleever after surgery. There are so many yummy sounding recipes on here I dont worry anymore about the limitations from the sleeve. Thanks for sharing.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I have always been and some what still am an active person. The weight gain has just made some things more difficult or have had to alter how I do my favorite activities. I have a treadmill that I walk/jog 2-3 miles several times a week permitting I am not working at my parents. I am a big volleyball player, love basketball, extreme water sports (limited now cause i have a whole lot of butt to be pulling out of the water to ski) and will swim 12 hours a day if allowed. Everyone teases me and says I must of been born with fins. Water aerobics and swimming are going to be my most used exercise. Those two will truly burn more calories and tone more muscles than any other exercise machine, all while having fun in water assuming you would like the water as much as me.
