    Dr. Alvarez August Sleevers

I leave in the morning to head for Eagle Pass. I am going to have a very busy schedule as I am having some teeth pulled while I am there. So tomorrow evening, the dentist is sending his driver to pick me up for x-rays and impressions and then surgery on monday with my teeth being pulled on tuesday. I do believe it's going to be a busy schedule for me. Looking forward to everything though. Just 2 days away from the reinvention of myself.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

So glad to see you online. I have been thinking bout you today. I want to wish you the very best tomorrow. I know you are going to do great. Joyce mentioned that we may not be able to meet. She said Jessica would do her best to see that you and her meet, but that when you get there, they are leaving. So the same may be for you and I. If I don't get to meet you in person, just know I am giving you a huge hug in thought and maybe one day we will meet in the future. How are things going for you?

    Bruises?

lovenox is given to patients to reduce the risk of blood clots. Some doctors require the patients to do them at home before or after the surgery. and some doctors do heparin shots while your in the hospital under for surgery. It is all a preventative concept.

    Did Something Change?

It appears they have updated the site. I have noticed a few changes in the layout and format of things. I am also having the problems of not being notified of new posts, or even seeing the notifications of the post. This may just be a temporary glitch, or atleast I hope. I want things to be normal again if normalcy even existed.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I am so glad to read you are doing so well. I have been gone most of the day with my Lil Mans Appointments. I tried to keep track of facebook to see if someone commented on how you were. I don't know about anyone else, But I am not liking this new VST setup at all. It never showed me once that you or anyone else responded to forum when I clicked notifications. I found out that you were responding from our facebook group. I hope your continue to recovery nicely. Thanks for telling me about those wonderful drugs they got there. I guess its enough to catch up on missed sleep when your not walking. You take care, and hopefully saturday you will get to meet Icandothis before you leave.

Yes a card is just fine. The cards are only good for land travels into other countries. Since we were not flying into Mexico we decided to save some money for the time being. You are just fine with your card.

First Time Drinking Alcohol Post Op

I read a blog the other day on here about an experience with drinking. I sure hope Tmorgan won't mind me sharing it here. She gives her account of her experience. http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/blog/1376/entry-3999-they-took-my-irish-drinking-crown/

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

So glad to hear you are doing so well. I hope the rest of your recovery moves just as easily and painfree. Thanks for keeping us updated. Best of Luck. Joyce, you are going to do great!! Tomorrow is the beginning of a new lifestyle/ a new you. I can imagine how the nerves are swirling about right now. BTW, the patient form you got in email from Susan, the one with all the numbers on it for our family to call us, and Rosy number etc. It lists both hotels on it, Can you confirm for me if that it the right address as to where you are staying? I am very confused as that is the only paperwork with an actual address for the hotel. * I dont want to get lost since we are driving there. What time is Rosy coming back to pick you up in the morning? I hope you can rest and try to relax alittle this evening.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

Sorry I am behind again. Spent all day yesterday working on the ranch and shredding the fields. I was too darn tired and exhausted to get on when I got home. I want to wish the very best to everyone who is having surgery today. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Please keep us updated as you are able. God bless. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Good Luck Joyce. It's starting to get exciting and nerve wracking especially now that you are headed up, knowing that 4 days after you I will be in the same shoes.

Sorry to hear Susie. Please let me know what Susan says, I am curious. Restriction is good, but I can imagine it being frustrating to get full after two bites. Maybe that will still ease and change some as we heal more often.

    What Do You Tell People

Exactly what my best friend said. Oh Honey your not that big anyway, you dont need surgery.. it drives me nuts when I think about it. I understand and know I a fat, I have accepted I am fat and am doing something about it, why couldn't she accept the same.

    What Do You Tell People

Congrats Jenn on your upcoming surgery. We share the same date. I am hoping some post-op will respond to this to give you a better outcome of post-surgery expressions. I am no longer telling anyone about my surgery til after I have it. My husband, kids, and one aunt that knows is very supportive along with my dad. However I hit a very hard brick wall with my best friend and my mom. The negative feedback that I received from the two people who I thought would be supportive almost shut me out of my decision. Then I said the hell with it, this is my body, my health. I chose to not tell anyone else and move forward with my plans. Here recently my mom started supporting and respecting my decision and understands that with or without her support I am doing this. I hope you get understanding and supportive people if you decide to mention things at work. Most of all I wish you the best of luck on your upcoming surgery and hope your recovery is speedy and uneventful.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

That would be awesome if they allow you to wait til I get there. I am sure you will still be there, afterall there is only one Rosie. Unless they have other drivers. If I am not mistaken they show up at Eagle Pass Hotel like 530-6 in morning. I don't foresee anyone being shuttled to San Antonio any sooner than that. I am looking forward to meeting my Canadian friend.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

WOW, I am out of the loop for a few days, and when I get back I see there are tons of new people to the group. I want to say WELCOME to everyone who is new, and I hope you all are enjoying the thread and the great company. I can't believe how huge we have grown. I still believe we August group is going the be the biggest/busiest surgery group of the forums. ICanDoThis, I think you have done great with your diet. I am finding myself struggling more and more. It's funny, they always say its hard to start the diet, well it was complete opposite for me, the longer I am on it, the harder it is. As far as the measurements I too forgot to do them, and yesterday Hubby and I went swimming. I put my first bathing suit on, and I was like utoh. that thing would have went floating the first dive into the pool. I had to pull out a smaller one just to feel like I could keep the girls in the the suit. When I put on my denim shorts they sagged in the front at the waist. Definitely had about 4 inches of room in my waist or more. I am ready to get this started. I hope you have a safe trip/flight to the states. Are you able to keep in contact with us once you are in Texas?

    Cooking Smaller Amounts..?

I really like the mason jar idea. I am sure that keeps cost down quite a bit. Of course I haven't had surgery yet, but being I am responsible for cooking for 6-8 people on an almost daily bases so I buy bulk. Being that we are ranchers, we also make alot of our meats. We use food savers. They keep food fresher for longer. Another neat thing I do is when there are left overs I will place individual servings in food saver bags, seal and freeze. When there comes a time to need a quick meal pick what you want and either toss bag in microwave or toss into pot of boiling water.

It was honor meeting you Susie. I have gained a very good friend. I plan on going to the patient reunions. Hubby said its a deal as long as we can get away, so I guess its time to kick this shy girl to the curb. Anyway you have a good night, sleep well.
