    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

She may have to put a rush on it, but that is quite a bit more. I think they told me 99 bucks for a rush.I don't really remember the exact day I filed for mine, but it was in the latter part 3rd week of june. I received my passports the beginning of July. The issue date on the passports were the 26th, so it actually only took 2-3 weeks to get mine i suppose. But traditionally they tell you it can take 6-8 weeks. She may be fine and receive them in time.

  6. ok so you may think you are being a hypocrite, and this is/can be a touchy subject. But we are all here for one reason right? To become Healthy. To extend the length of our lives, to do things we havent done in a very long time or to do things we have never done before. To have faith/confidence in ourselves etc. That being said I can relate to your feelings about not being able to say no, knowing how it felt for you with all those rejections. But on the other side, you are on your way to becoming a healthier person. Please don't hate me for this, cause I am big too.. But you have to ask yourself, Do I want to go down that road again, and possibly be tempted to leave my healthier ways. Do I want to worry about the health of my loved one day after day knowing the dangers he will face if he keeps the weight on. There is no harm in starting a relationship if thats where you feel its headed. Who knows, maybe you will be a guiding light for himself to become healthier. Either way, there are going to be some concerns on both your ends. Best of luck in your decision. I really hope I haven't come across rude, this is just really a tough post as either thought can be considered wrong.

    Dr Alveraz

Welcome to the boards once more Mczoo. Our Dr. Alvarez is going to be a very busy person come August. I know he's always busy but this is a huge VST group going to him in August. I sure hope we all get to keep in touch, and maybe get to meet each other at the patient reunions. I love how we all keep a closeness that we can be supportive for each other.

Up And Down, Up And Down Emotions

Very well said!!! We are strong women. Truly remarkable. And I can do this. But jokingly speaking, I use to tease my kids they should feel lucky that humans didnt take full animal instincts cause some animals eat their young (would refer to this when they miss-behaved.) I tease them alot. Now my kids tease me and say when I start my pre-op diet they are moving to nanna and popos, cause they don't want me to start drooling when I look at them. Its times/moments like that, that put a smile on my face and let me know I can make it through this.

    Feeling The Food Go Down.....

I am sorry to jump in here. I havent even had my surgery yet and I find myself asking "What the hell am I doing; thinking about do?" On the humorous side Im glad that my question is normal, and that its just gonna change after surgery from what am i doing, to what have i done. Despite questioning this, I know this is the right path to choose, and i truly feels its completely natural to wonder/think of ones aptitude.
  11. Your doing such an amazing job. Your looking fabulous already. Keep up all the hard work. Rock that sleeve!!

Up And Down, Up And Down Emotions

I too am having emotional moments. I am having surgery Aug. 6th with Dr. Alvarez. Fear seems to be my biggest emotion right now. I don't fear the surgery, that part is a piece of cake with me, What I do fear is the pre-op diet. Although my diet is only 14 days I find myself asking my husband how I am going to make it through those day, would he forgive me if I turn moody, snappy or plain B-witchy. Fear of Failure is a very strong emotion. I also have Fear of the Unknown. All of which I am sure is normal to a degree. Right now I am just trying to focus on how to survive the liquid diet and trying to figure out why it scares the hell out of me so bad.

    August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?

I am suppose to start my two week liquid diet on July 23rd. I have not really decided what I wanted for a last meal. I love to cook so I have narrowed my choices down to Triple Cheese Spinach Manicotti, Fiesta Chicken Enchiladas, Creamy Zucchini Spinach Rigatoni, Lasagna or even a Chicken Fried Steak. I have alot of choices/decisions to make. HOWEVER I would give up any and all of these decisions if tomorrow was my surgery day!! I can't seem to make the clock tick faster.

    I Hit 75Lbs Today!

Now thats some great news. You have been working hard. I can't wait til I can join ya.
  20. Although I haven't had VSG surgery yet, I have had several surgeries in the last 17 years. The last surgery was in May 2010 for what they thought was a tumor on my last ovary, but it turned out to be a chocolate cyst. Anyway long story short, I had a weak (Bad) tooth in the back right side. When I woke up from surgery my tongue felt sore like I had bitten it. Well it turned out that during the Intubation they had chipped my tooth and the sharp edge had cut my tongue unknowingly in my sleep. Chipped & cracked teeth, chipped or lost fillings do happen. Despite the outcome I had, I can say that doctors do try to complete the intubation without damage. Out of the 6+ time I have been put under for surgery, I have only had once incident of a cracked tooth. As far as veneers and crowns I would think that as long as you make sure they know that they would take extra care. On my past surgery forms I had to list whether or not I had dentures, crowns, bridges, veneers etc.

    40 Inch Bougie!

Bougie: A thin cylinder of rubber, plastic, metal or another material that a physician inserts into or though a body passageway, such as the esophagus, to diagnose or treat a condition. A bougie may be used to widen a passageway, guide another instrument into a passageway, or dislodge an object. In our case the bougie is used as a guide for the cutting of the stomach.

    Post Surgery Infection

I have not had surgery yet, but I would highly suggest finding something at home as far as exercise. Gyms are very germ filled places. Cross contamination can happen very easily, as easily as holding on to treadmill bars or elliptical handles, and then for some reason brush across your incisions, whether by drying off with a towel or a rub from the hand. I am not saying gyms are bad, but since you have had one infection, your primary concern is to get better and healed and you don't want to become prone to infections. Again all IMO.
