My first weigh in was appointment with my family doctor April (we discussed weight loss etc but It wss not submitted as a weigh In) my first surgeon appt was june and last weigh in was Sept. I did not have to do 7 months. I also was approved very quick! Insurance coordinator faxed on Monday afternoon and Tuesday I received an email from bcbs of ia stating all was approved. Whoo Hoo! I am super excited to get this journey and my new life started!!

I was just approved for surgery! So I believe my surgery will be in October. I know I have to have a gallbladder ultrasound and 2 week protein liquid diet. I called my surgeon yesterday to schedule but had to leave a message for the nurse. Getting anxious and excited and nervous all at once.

Thanks Dave!! You are a very positive person! I truley am excited for a new me! Regardless of how much weight and how someone loses weight SOMEONE is going to be jealous and make a negative comment. BUT.. that SOMEONE will be one out of the other 100's of people with positive comments. So I am ok with that! I am super excited and anxious! I have to make changes to ME and worry about ME.. and that is my plan! Thanks for all your positive comments.

This is all very helpful info! I too have told a handful of people. Some approve and are supportive and some are very negative. I am having a hard time with the negative nellies. One I thought of as a friend and she told me to really think this surgery over because anyone she has met that's had the surgery had mentally changed for the worse!? My sister had this surgery done and the only changes I've seen are positive. She feels and looks great with more confidence. I'm done with 6 month diet and now just waiting for insurance approval. But I am wishing I wouldn't have told anyone my plans, hate the negative talk.

Hello all! I've been lurking here for a few weeks. I originally had planned for the sleeve until further research and information from the my surgeon. I have GERD and was told that could get worse with the sleeve. ouch.. no thanks! My insurance required the 6 month diet, I'm almost done with. My 6 month visit is scheduled Sept 4th. Next week I have an upper gi with my surgeon. I originally started with a different surgeon until they informed my they weren't going to be providers of my insurance... long story. so I had already completed a nut. appt and pysc scam. BUT that surgeon had my height as 5'1, and my new surgeon has me at 5'2. My starting weight and height at 5'2 would lower my BMI to 39. Grrr ... I do have arthritis and the gerd but no other comorbs .. surgeons office doesn't see it as a problem for approval. I actually gained a few lbs before meeting with the new surgeon which made my initial exam with their office BMI 40. But if insurance goes off the beginning of my 6 month diet and the new surgeons height it will probably deny. wait and see.. I hate this! But almost to the end.. anyone else on the "bubble" for BMI and still approved?

No, I haven't yet. I will when we meet again on Aug 28. Maybe they will remeasure me and I will have no worries. thanks for the welcome!

How did everyone do on their preop 6 month diet? I am currently a 41 BMI, my surgeons office said that I can lose any amount before surgery and still be approved. I am losing weight and following directions, but worried my insurance will say I'm now below a 40 BMI and deny me. grrrr.. I hate the worry with the insurance approval process. I started the 6 month diet in april, and just met with the new surgeon a few weeks ago. Anyone else go through this?
