Thank you everyone. I danced a little jig, took a pic with my camera phone, and sent it to all my friends and family. This surgery has been life changing and all of your support and encouragement has been a huge part of that.

I'm 7 weeks post op, and every time I eat a meal, I get hot flashes. Does anyone else experience this? Does it go away? What causes it?

Hi there. I am 8 1/2 weeks post op. My weight loss has slowed, but that doesn't bother me as much as this stall that I have been in for a week. My weight has not moved. 201.4 for 7 days. I am bothered because I have not cheated once since I started this journey. I follow all the rules. Plus, I am only two pounds from my first big goal, which is to be under 200 lbs. I am so discouraged and don't know what to do to break this stall. Any suggestions????

I Am Just Amazed
TMyers1471 replied to kelliecalgary's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am almost 9 weeks out, and I feel the SAME way. I was a food addict. My world revolved around food. I have had to re-adjust my world since being sleeved. I am NEVER hungry. I have to force myself to eat, and when I do, I can only eat about a 1/2 cup of anything. I have found that blogging is very theraputic, and I read all the time. I have had to find new things to do that don't involve food. I'm also signing up for a cardio dance class next week. Eating is a chore now. Who knew that would ever be MY motto?!?! -

Emilybites Cheeseburger And Lasagna Cupcakes
TMyers1471 replied to SleeveDreamer's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
Love the lasagna recipe. I was debating on just using one wonton wrapper per cake, but wasn't sure they would turn out. Thanks for the input. -
Just so your prepared, the weakness will hang on for a while. Don't panic. My surgeon said your body will take every ounce of protein you consume to "heal a wound," which will leave you feeling fatigued for quite some time. Rest up and don't over-do anything. Some days will be better than others. You farted?!?! This is GREAT news!!!! hahahahahahahahahahaha. I thought my nurses were going to throw a party for me the first time I passed gas in the hospital. lol :tongue2:

No problem. That's why you are here. Let me explain what I mean. I take calcium citrate petite tablets. On the back of the bottle, it lists how much Vit D and Calcium are in two tablets (serving size). There is 400 mg of calcium in two tablets. Therefore, you would have to take 2 tablets each day to get as close to your doctor's suggested 600 mg. My NUT says 400 is close enough for me. Look for that information, and that should give you your answer. I hope you are recovering well.

Help! How Do I Get Past This Stall?
TMyers1471 replied to TMyers1471's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So funny Stacy. I couldn't agree more. I was thinking I might go off the deep end with an 11 week stall. lol. Thank you Wheetsin. I don't feel so alone now. -
It doesn't list the dosage amount on the back of the bottle???

I had to have my surgery fast tracked because Blue Cross was changing their policies as of June 1st. I was told by every weight loss center I called in my area that after June 1st, Blue Cross would be requiring patients to enroll in a medically documented 6 month program of weight loss before they would approve any bariatric surgeries. I got the run around for a while, so I just waited for my surgeon's office to figure it all out. My surgery was done on May 21st. Good luck. I never got any straight answers either.

Pre Op Diet Question
TMyers1471 replied to JourneyOfAFatKid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chicken and beef broth worked for my salt cravings. -
Don't focus so much on calories at this point. Protein is more important. Some days will be better than others. Some days you will be able to get it all in, and somedays you won't. My heartburn was horrible at night. So I started taking my Prilosec before bed. Much better. As for the tiredness, my doctor explained to me that it is VERY normal because your body is taking every bit of protein you consume to "heal a wound" (your stomach). You have no protein reserved, so you feel tired. It will get better as your stomach heals. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately, it happens to me every time I eat. I've had a hysterectomy and was having some early menopause issues (like hot flashes) before the surgery...just never when I ate. Oh well....I can live with it. The weight is coming off.

Weight Watcher's Smart Ones Or Lean Cuisine A Good Idea?
TMyers1471 replied to Avealina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're very welcome. I just noticed that you and I had the exact same starting weight and goal weight. When was your surgery?? By the way...the lasagna cupcakes are my favorite. I used ground turkey instead of beef. Plus...the recipe says you can make 8 cupcakes, but I always have more than enough stuff to make 12. They are the perfect size and fill me right up. Although now I am finding that I have to padlock the leftovers because my kids LOVE them. lol -
I just talked to my bariatric surgeon about this today. He said low energy is totally normal because your body is taking every ounce of protein you consume to "heal a wound." Therefore, you don't have a lot left over to keep your energy up. He told me to increase my protein until my energy gets back to normal...which, he assured me, WILL happen. Good luck!

Go to emilybites.com and check out her cupcake recipes (lasagna, taco, etc). You can cook them and freeze them for a fast light meal anytime. -
I Am Ashamed/embarassed

What is your problem???? I was apologizing for my post sounding "negative" to you. I will not get into a war of words. This is a supportive community. Sunshine and rainbows are not always on the menu. I will politely bow out of this conversation. -

TMyers1471 replied to Texarkolina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think anyone was being critical. Those of us who are post surgery know how important it is to stick to the doctor's orders. I have a friend who has not followed a single rule, and she has been hospitalized several times. Her new stomach is basically not healing. In fact, she didn't follow pre op rules either and her surgeon almost called off the whole thing. We want you to be a success and are just trying to help. All doctors are different. My doctor said no food whatsoever in pre op to shrink the liver. Sometimes we don't always hear what we want to hear, just like anything else in life. It doesn't mean we don't care and that we are being negative. Good luck to you on your new journey. It is life changing. -
