Leslie Sansome's Walk at Home DVD's. I LOVE them. Great work out for the beginner.

    Pickles

Not for me. I got the go ahead to eat cucumbers, so I assumed pickles were safe too.

    Help! I Am Very Tired

My doctor explained that fatigue is very normal. Your body went through a traumatic experience and is healing a large wound (your stomach). He said that it takes every ounce of protein you consume to heal that wound, which leave you nothing for your energy reserves. He told me to increase my protein even more when I was feeling especially fatigued, and it really helped. Does your doctor check your vitamin levels at all? I get mine check every 3 months to make sure I am not lacking in any areas. Good luck to you. It sounds like you are doing everything right.

    Burning

I had the occassional burning sensation on a couple of incision sites, but it was random and didn't last long, so I didn't panic. As long as the sites don't look infected, you should be okay. As for the food portions, I am 9 weeks out and STILL can only eat 1-2 ounces of anything. Some days I can't even eat that much, so I supplement with protein shakes.

    Food 1St Week

I had to have protein before I even left the hospital. It is crucial to the healing of your wound. I had to get in 60 g of it starting at day 1 post op.

    More Restriction With Time?

I am the same way. Some days I can eat small meals every two hours or so, but there are other days when I thank God for my shakes because I just can't eat. It is such a chore to eat anymore. Darn it! lol
  10. I totally understand. I have followed every single rule that they have set for me. Getting sleeved should not mean the end of all the things that made us happy. I can deal without the grease and junk food. I get that it will get me nowhere, but caffeine, COME ON doc!!! I'm not going to OD on it when the only time I consume it is through coffee. Funny story (speaking of condescending)....I asked my NUT when I could start having the occassional glass of wine. She literally looked down her nose at me and said, "We will talk about that at your next appointment, but you must remember that alcohol is nothing but empty calories." I wanted to look at her and say, "well so is Water, but you sure want me guzzling 64 oz of that crap a day!" Besides, I don't think there was ever a time in my life where I drank a beer because of how HEALTHY it was. DUH!!
  11. My NUT told me that I could have caffeine free coffee before and after surgery. I am 9 weeks out and she now says that I can have my caffeine back in my coffee only. I asked her what the big deal is, and she said that the caffeine is basically dehydrating (sorry..can't remember her fancy medical term) and I will need to increase my water by one cup if I drink regular coffee. Oh darn. I'm more than willing to drink an extra glass of water for that coffee in the morning. lol.
  12. Great news! Keep up the great work!!!

Two Weeks Out ; Am I Normal?

You should call your surgeon. You do not want to get dehyrdated. It is not fun. Your body needs that protein and hydration to heal a large wound (your stomach). Good luck to you.

    Increase Protein?

I get 60 g of protein. My surgeon said inscreased protein can help speed up weight loss. I wish I could tell you why, but I didn't ask. I figure that he is the expert, so I will take his word for it. lol
  15. I am so sorry for all that you are going through. I would encourage you to see your surgeon again. This kind of pain seems out of the ordinary. Prayers and hugs to you.
  16. I have never thrown up. Food doesn't get "stuck." My best friend has the lap band and she is jealous. She pukes a lot, things get stuck, and she is generally miserable. Recovery pain was very minimal. The liquid diet is by far the hardest part of the entire process. You can do this. Don't lose hope for a nausea-free future.

    Pickles

I started pickles at roughly 6 weeks with no issues. I <3 pickles. I wrap them in a piece of low sodium ham, with a wedge of Laughing Cow low fat swiss cheese for a high protein, low cal snack!
  18. I went back to work a week post op. I was fine. I just stuck to my liquids. I didn't have any "liquid out" issues at all. lol. Just follow the rules and you should do great. I am 9 weeks out and have never got sick. Everyone is different, but, like everyone else said, I experiment with new foods when I am home. The only problem I had at work was that I was exhausted, which is normal. Good luck.

Shake Question At "full Liquids" Stage

I don't think you have anything to worry about. If the blender got it liquified nicely, you will be fine. Don't fret. From now on, I would leave the bananas out though until you get in your next phase. I'm suprised you don't feel a need to stop the liquids when you get "full." Plain ol water makes me full. lol
  20. Just having a quick celebration. I started this journey at 244 pounds. I was sleeved on May 21st. I have lost 46 lbs. I am off all my blood pressure meds and have not had a panic attack since the surgery. Today I weighed in at 198!!! I haven't been under 200 lbs. in 13 years!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God for the sleeve.

    Getting Out Of Bed

I am on the "recliner" bandwagon. I slept in my recliner for the first 5 days post op. Saying I "slept" is stretching it. I got around surprisingly well and was excited to get off the pain meds because they interfered with my sleep and made me loopy. Once I was able to sleep in my bed, I slept on my side with a body pillow supporting my stomach.

    Acid Reflux

Reflux after surgery is very common because of the stomach being swollen and healing from surgery. For me, I had mild reflux before surgery. I recently stopped taking my reflux meds and am 9 weeks out. So far, so good.

    What's Up With Straws?

All docs are different, but mine said no straw because of the extra air. However, I started using a straw at 8 weeks out and had no issues. My doc was fine with it. Just out of curiosity...have you tried the Premier protein shakes? Much like you, I detested every shake I tried until I found Premier. One shake has 30 g of protein. I drink one every morning with no problems. Good luck on your surgery.
