New Here! I Was "sleeved" On 5/9/12.
Irishqwn5 replied to bean406's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I found the best that worked for me was runny mashed potatoes. If it was to thick it hurt and made me feel sick. Krogers sales the Idaho potatoes in little microwaveable cups those are actually good. -
Surgery Failed Today!
Irishqwn5 replied to Sleeve-A-Licious's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you follow the pre-op your liver will shrink you could bleed out if your liver was damaged. The Dr did you a favor. You have to dedicate yourself to the pre-diet or you'll fail after surgery. I had to do a clear liquid for 8 days before. Please shrink your liver, if you followed the diet your liver would have shrunk. -
Anyone Regret Being Sleeved?
Irishqwn5 replied to Preacher's Wife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Btw stay away from juice of any kind it's empty calories tons of sugar that you don't need. Get crystal light instead the fruit punch is yummy. Don't waste your calories on juices. -
Anyone Regret Being Sleeved?
Irishqwn5 replied to Preacher's Wife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It gets better I promise you need to give your stomach time to heal. Take it slow don't stretch your new sleeve. Regrets are totally normal I had them at first because I felt like garbage after surgery and emotionally I wanted to eat but it's the best decision I've ever made for myself please give it time -
Judgement About Wls
Irishqwn5 replied to Almostthere34's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If she could do it in her own why is she over weight herself? Sounds to me that misery loves company. Don't worry about what others say or think my surgery was the best decision I've ever made for myself. I wouldn't have lost the weight on my own only gained because I have zero will power etc and this surgery will make you have will power. She's right you'll never eat the same ever again but that's a good thing and remember nothing ever taste better than skinny... There will be a time after surgery where you'll become irretatble with not being able to eat more than a few bites but again skinny never tastes so damn good. Shake the negatives out your life and do you girl -

Hair Loss... Help!
Irishqwn5 replied to SecretStarr82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very common with WLS patients (weight loss patients) because we aren't getting all the nutrients we actually require our hair will suffer for the first 1-3 years biotin helps and keratin complex serums shampoos etc help but either way your hairs going to thin. I had to cut my hair into a shoulder length bob to lighten the weight and that helped some. Don't waste your $$ on expensive shampoos I did and it was a waste trust me. Target and even Sally's beauty supply sales keratin treatment in single packets that are doable it has all the whey and soy hydro keratin etc. a lot of brands if you read the labels don't have but one type of keratin stay away from those they are a waste. -

From the album: Before and few months after
i actually take pics with my kids now. This was Feb 10, 2012 big difference in the face -
I was on clears 7 days BEFORE surgery and 2.5 weeks after. If you eat whole foods you will hurt yourself... I worked with a bariatric Dr and I've seen people really screw themselves up by not doing as they are told and seen a few die. Food is not that serious, focus on why you chose to have surgery it will get better but you must be strong or you will fail. Remember people who don't actively charge their lifestyles gain the weight back. Be wise and follow the plan.

Hope This Helps (Vitamins, Nutrition And Clothes)
Irishqwn5 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey everyone i had my sleeve December 28,2011 and i started at 401lbs im now down to 330lbs i have a long way to go but im doing it!!! For those who havent had it done it is the best decision you will ever make i promise. I only regretted it right after surgery when all the drugs made me very sick. I will say it is a learning exp for sure and still learning. I have over eaten a few times and had to make myself vomit from feeling so miserable. What i suggest is to buy a 4 ounce container and baby cutlery, lol yes baby spoons, this will help to keep your bites small and chew chew chew!!! Your new stomach will thank you. It is at times a challenge when your wanting your favorite foods and you take 2-4 bites and your full and your looking at the plate like WHAT THE HELL I WANTED TO EAT YOU DAMN IT lol but remember nothing taste better than being skinny and ration your portions out do not deprive yourself. If your a sweets person like me get an oh yeah bar as a meal replacement it has 10g of protien i think or 12g. For your clear liqiuds i suggest walmart because they have a much bigger selection than Krogers or HEB etc. I used Rachel Ray and Wolf-Gang-Puck broths they werent to bad I will NEVER EVER EAT JELLO AGAIN. lol Also very important is your blood work after your surgery my Dr never offered to check mine so i had to go to my PCP but after surgery i have found that drinking all my water a day is a huge challenge which wasn't before surgery (i love water) make sure every 6 months or so you check you kidney functions, with all the protien and low carbs that we are trying to achieve it can ruin your kidneys. DRINK YOUR WATER!!! Vitamin shoppe has a sale buy one get one 50% off... most WLS (weight loss surgery) patients lose a great deal of their hair mine has become very thin so i take biotin and use keratin shampoo/treatments to help keep it healthy. Ladies with long hair you may find it looks healthier shoulder length, i had to cut mine into a bob but it looks good. Also the Myofusion protien powder sold here is really good unlike the nasty protien bullets thats recommended to us. They are very hard to stomach. I mix my myofusion with soy milk so that i am also getting calcium. CLOTHES!!!!! I have had to buy a few new items and because buying new pants and jeans all the time isnt economical for my budget i have looked for cheap walmart jeans in the clearence section and also because its summer time i bought a few maxi dresses and as i shrink the dresses will to all i have to do is run a hem down the side and it will save me a ton during the summer so i can hold off on buying pants etc for the winter time. I donated all my winter clothes no need to keep them when i know they wont fit I hope this will help to inspire and motivate sleevers. LETS ROCK OUR NEW BODIES!!!!!!! -
I have started buying new clothes and find it quit expensive to keep buying pants all the time so what i am doing is the clearence rack at walmart for jeans and shorts and even better i bought a few very cute maxi dresses for the summer and all i have to do is run a hem down the side as i shrink so for summer time i plan on staying in maxi dresses when winter comes i will buy pants jeans etc save some money. Hope this helps

Anyone From South Texas On Here?
Irishqwn5 replied to Amytequilahouse's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in Houston -
These two are found at the vitamin shoppe much cheaper than most places like GNC. Although GNC has a great shake called Total lean and it is very good. The vitamin Shoppe has a special in most places buy on get one 50% off which helps alot. I dont recommend the protien bullets ugh they are horrible. Also while your at the shoppe get some biotin you will need it for your hair, after surgery your hair takes a beating from hell. Biotin pills and keratin shampoos etc will help with the loss. Im not a big fan of the muscle milk i think it taste like the bullets and they are good for decorating the fridge but thats it. Good luck sleevers.
