52 and wondering what to expect
Territravel replied to KlassyKat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just turned 52. Down 70lbs so far. A little sagging in the inner thigh and belly area, but not too bad. Working out has helped. I understand that it could take up to 2 years for your skin to adjust so, I;m not worried about it. Clothes will cover my problem areas. We love to camp at lakes, so not sure how to hide the saggy thighs though. -

I like that, " This is not a race." You have a great way of looking at things! -
Hi June Sleevers! Sleeved on 6/15 and down 70lbs. Hoping to lose another 20lbs. I'm in my 50's so I'm not concerned with being ultra slim. My goal was to be healthier and more active, and I feel that now.

Great job! I bet you feel terrific. -
Oooh, such a hard habit to break, or at least for me. I've done it all my life. I knew that I needed to eat slow with this surgery, but it took numerous slimes to sink in. My suggestion is to count your chews and do not swallow until you reach a certain number. It will make you aware and help with slowing you down. Good luck!

Will i want 2 hotel nigts?
Territravel replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I felt well enough to fly on home, on the 3rd day after surgery. We connected in Atlanta, landed in one concourse and departed from another. it felt like I walked the whole airport. I was tired when I got home, but did not have any trouble or problems. I knew that my own bed was what I needed, and I was very happy to be home! -

Anyone use protein shots?
Territravel replied to TM123's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Google the shots before you buy them. There are some protein shots that our body doesn't absorp, so it my be a waste of $$ and time. -

A complication they didn't tell you about - Nerve Palsy - Drop Foot
Territravel replied to hm734's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow , Sorry to hear that! I'll be praying that it's only a temporary thing. I know it's scary, but try and keep a positive mindset. -
I work a graveyard shift. I've tried many, many things for sleep. Ambien is the best, but you have to have a prescription, and can be addictive. Also, some people have problems like "sleep eat, sleep drive and sleep sex," don't even know their doing it! Needless to say, I quit that stuff like a bad habit. I have used melatonin, and it works to help me fall asleep, but not to stay asleep. Also noticed that I tend to have crazy nightmares while using it.

Dr. Perez In Cancun
Territravel replied to 2boys@home's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
It's perfectly normal to be nervous. I was a little concerned about going to Mexico. " No spanish skills what- so- ever." I took my family along, and we found Cancun beautiful and safe. The beginning of my journey, I prayed, and felt peace with my decision. I hope that your able to do the same. -

Relax, and just hang in there. Everything happens for a reason "in my opinion." Once you get your new date, time will fly by!

Dr. Perez In Cancun
Territravel replied to 2boys@home's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I used Dr. Verboonen in Cancun and Dr Perez was his partner there. Dr. Perez was there to remove my drain, check for leaks and release me. I found them both to be excellent doctors. I did not check any of the boards that you listed. And no, I was never concerned. Since my surgery, a friend has been to Cancun and used the same Doctors with great results. It's a great idea to know all the facts, but you can worry yourself sick too. -
I'm sorry you had to learn that lesson...Never, never drink immediately after eating. Your husband will forget it happened before you do!

is sleeve healthy or starvation?
Territravel replied to Karishero's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I researched VSG, and made my decision. At that point, I decided NOT to tell anyone but my spouse, children and Mother. I did not want anyone trying to talk me out of it. Your friends may be concerned, but their not helping you! -
I went to Cancun and used Dr Verboonen. Highly recommend!

What will they think of next? If that fork could smack my hand when i overeat, or eat too fast, that would be worth buying!

Lack of motivation
Territravel replied to jeanettecamacho07's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can afford it, hire a trainer for 30 days. It's their job is to motivate you. If not, find a friend to exercise with. Helps keep you accountable. Do anything for 21 days, and it may just become a healthy habit, Good luck! -
