Don't Want To Tell Anyone I'm Having The Surgery
Territravel replied to buffalogal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand not wanting to tell people. Im private like that too. I have told my immediate family, and two others. Part of me, was afraid people would talk me out of it. I'm not going to lie, so not sure how to handle it after the weight starts droppping. Would your Son and daughter-in-law be upset if they found out the truth? These things always have a way of getting out. Good luck with the new grandbaby! -
Yes, God does hear us! He wants us to have the desires of our heart. Praying the rest of your journey is a Happy one....

I'm on day 3 of my pre-op diet. So far, not to bad. Although I took my Son to taco bell and had to smell that all the way home. UUGGHH! I can have warm chicken or beef broth, and sugar free jello in addition to my protein shakes. Good luck!

4.5 Months Out And Not Doing Well
Territravel replied to fitforlife's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great advice from everyone so far! More protein, watch the carbs. Try a different acid medicine and see if that helps with the hunger. Exercise more and I bet you get past this stall. WLS is a tool, not guaranteed to work alone..Sounds like a food addiction that's playing with your mind. Good luck, it will get better! -
P90X? Mixed Martial Arts? Too Intense?
Territravel replied to sirensiren's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I did Tae Kwon Do in my younger/skinny days. It's an intense workout. I would be concerned about getting punched or kicked in the stomach. If your Doctor clears you for this type of work-out, Go for it! -

Hi Erika, Sounds like your making a good decision. Sorry the lap-band didn't work for you. I thought about the lap-band, but decided against it. Now scheduled for a sleeve 6/15/12 in Cancun with Dr.Verboonen. I think your going to do great. Your young have a wonderful attitude. Plus your a cutie! You may have to change your email address..LOL -
I like the banana idea. Someone mentioned putting a spoon of peanut butter in it. Xtra protein and makes it taste good.

Has anyone heard of having your pre-op lab work done on the same morning as your surgery? Im scheduled for surgery in Cancun on th 15th, with Dr Veboonen and was informed yesterday, that all of my lab work, pre-op tests will be done that same morning. Does that sound odd? Thought they may need a day to make sure everything is normal and good to go before surgery...Really getting scared now!
-
Erika, You are a genius! Never, would I have thought of checking with the local WLS about counseling. I've been afraid of someone talking me out of going to Mexico. I 've heard the hardest part of WLS is your own head..I will definitely check into it! Terri

Ok, now I'm feeling a little better..Thanks guys! Love the amount of info and encouragement I'm finding on this site. I understand some people have to go through Pych evaluation, and classes before surgery. Being a self pay in Mexico, this is it for me..

Non Supportive Primary Care Doctor
Territravel replied to carlab51's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, time to move on to a new PCP. No Doctor should tell you what your capable of, EVER! God is the ultimate physican, and your Doc is not God! After you lose all the weight, stroll in and let her have a look-see, at what you and your God can do! -
June 15th here!!!!

Hi Neeve, Sorry to hear that your not feeling well. Since Im 14 days pre-op, I can't really comment if that's normal. I would definitely call my Doctor and see if he can prescribe or recommend something to make you feel better. I have asthma also, the muscus thing is a little scarey! Prayers and hugs coming to you from the Midsouth.

Did you say stomach muscles, what are those? LOL! On your pre-op diet, What was your favorite protein drink?

How Do You Determine Your Goal Weight?
Territravel replied to need2change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm close to your age and same height. I'm hoping for 135-145lbs myself. When I was young i stayed between 120-130lbs but now that Im a little older and dont feel the need to please anyone but myself, I'll settle for a few more pounds..Barbdoll is right, we're all different go until you feel comfortable. -
I have my sleeve scheduled in Cancun for Jun16th with Dr.Sergio verboonen. We're going a few days early, sort of a mini-vacation before the operation. I will be happy to report all that happens if that helps to ease your mind. Terri
-
I think I'm afraid someone will talk me out of it....How are you feeling? Are you in pain, hungry? I'm suppose to go back to work after a week off, maybe I need to rethink that. Praying God's healing touch over you now. There's power in the word, and it says " By his stripes we're healed". Terri

Can I Take My Protein Powder Across The Border And Get It Back Into The Us?
Territravel replied to boots321's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hey Boots, Thanks for asking this question. We will be going to Mexico 3 days before surgery and was wondering the same thing. -
I start my pre-op diet on June 2nd. I have to take a trip to NYC on June 4th. And will be flying most of that day. " it's an out and back trip", Since im not allowed to carry on liquids over 3oz I, was wondering if there are any suggestions as to what to drink?
