I'm just 2 1/2 weeks out and am as confused as some of you sound... I saw a Registered Dietician pre-op who gave me specific guidelines, but then my surgeon gave me other instructions that contradicted what RD said. After losing 12 pounds immediately on clear liquids, I followed what the surgeon said to eat/drink something every few hours. In trying to do that AND get 64 grams of protein in, I actually gained weight!
I'm back on track now but confused about what's on pureed diet: how little protein it contains, and why should i fill up on baby food with carbs and no protein when I could just stick with the protein drinks. I never had any guidance on the number of calories I should be eating, and wonder if calories and/or carbs should be tracked as importantly as protein.
I feel like the only time I lost weight so far was on sugar-free CLD, where it felt like the Atkins diet and I lost those first 12 pounds so easily.
Any advice?
