post-op depression, anyone? :(
vsglosingit replied to Dayo-dayo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 10 months postop and still feel "out of place"...especially when eating out and I sit there and watch everyone inhale their food. For me IT IS TOTALLY worth it. Lost 100 lbs so far and feel TEN times better. Keep your eye on the reasons you had the surgery. At least that is what I try to do. I do not feel "depressed" every day...usually about one day a week now. -
Do you have any metal in your body?

1 Week Post Up And Mourning Food And Being Able To Eat
vsglosingit replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was sleeved 2/17/12. Lost almost 100 lbs so far. I too was scared that I would never be able to drink a bottle of water (especially when working out)....but now am able to drink about 8 ounces of water at a time. I still mourn not being able to eat as much as everyeone else. I do not mourn everyday...but just every once in awhile. I realize having surgery was one of the best things I have done for myself. Keep your chin up and anytime you need encouragement either get online for help or think of the reason you went through with surgery. -
What are you having MRI of?

Thought I Could Trust My Husband!
vsglosingit replied to MGM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry he did that. That was very inconsiderate of your feelings and not very respectful. Just remember, you are doing this for you. Who cares what his family thinks. This is about YOUR journey. -

Healing Time- With Removal Of Gallbladder- Diff.? Or No?
vsglosingit replied to Marty McSkinnystein's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had both GB & WLS at the same time. I had surgery on a friday and that monday I was back at work part time. (office work) I was having gb pain and had gallstones. I had a total of 7 incisions but healed fast and feel SO MUCH better since the surgery. Its difficult to say if I feel better because of losing weight or getting my gb out. lol -

Going Back To Work After Vsg
vsglosingit replied to IsaacsGram's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery on a Friday and went to work Monday...BUT I work an office job. If you have a physically demanding job it will probably 4-6 weeks or longer...depending on how well you recover. IMO -
Keep your chin up girl! Positive thinking helps ALOT!!!! Just wait until you are loosing weight and feeling better than ever! It is worth it. Good luck and keep us posted.

Do you still have your gallbladder? -
You need to see a Neurosurgeon about your back. Hopefully you have had a MRI done. Then get a good Neurosurgeon to explain your anatomy and go over the MRI films with you and give you different options of treatment. Personally IMO I would not get on a trampoline with back problems like you describe. Maybe work out in a pool, or physical therapy but with the numbness.....I would be talking to a Neurosurgeon (not an Orthopedist or "Spine specialist") Hopefully you get some relief soon.

Congratulations!! Keep it up! -
Try walking in a resistance pool...just do a few laps at a time and work up until you can do more. Some places that do Physical therapy have it to where you can go and use the pool.

Hopefully it wont be long now!!! It took me almost a year before I was able to get the surgery approved...but it WAS SO WORTH IT!!!! Good luck!

Okay, so its been a rough day. Of course the first thing I want to do is sit on the couch with a glass of wine and a ton of carbs. But no, Instead I am online and reading how other people make the choices everyday to live a healthy and active lifestyle...so I have a choice. I can sit here and feel sorry for my "bad" day or I can hit the gym. I had my sleeve done on 2/17/12. So far I have lost 57.8 lbs. Of course I want it to be 75 lbs...but hey its going down and that is what matters. Somehow I have to learn how to control using food as my "friend" when nobody else is around. So I just downloaded a few new songs to my ipod and headed to the gym at 845pm. Wish me luck!! LOL

Hair Loss Solution
vsglosingit replied to chitowngirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Biosil drops....about 10-12 drops a day. Buy them online at Amazon or at GNC. Make sure to mix them with a strong liquid cause they are nasty. You should see a difference after a few weeks of taking them EVERY day. -
I had Aetna. They wanted 3 months documentation of a weight program (dr assisted)and a BMI over 40 with either High blood pressure, Sleep Apnea or Diabetic. It started seeing my doctor in april or may of 2011... Turned in paperwork just to be denied in August/september...BECAUSE I had yoyo dieted and within the last 5 years my BMI had gone down. Ended up going to a different physician and had sleep study and high blood pressure and got it approved, but since it had been so long Aetna would only approve it to be done before Feb 22 2012..I think thats the date. Anyway, I had mine done on Feb 17, 2012.

Numbness / Tinglimg In Right Calf
vsglosingit replied to Artsy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Could be from a nerve being compressed in your low back...sometimes leg symptoms can be related to your low back *herniated disc/spinal stenosis, lumbar radiculopathy etc. If symptoms continue I would talk to your doctor. Just my opinion. I work in the medical field but am not a physician or even a nurse. Just experience from working for years in the medical field. -
When Does The Hair Loss Stop?
vsglosingit replied to kcsmicah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started taking it within the first week after surgery....i would put 2 drops in my medicine cup with my protein shake. By the way...it tastes NASTY and smells like fish. Now I mix 10 drops in a full 8-10 ounces of liquid before taking it.
