Congratulations on your surgery! Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Congratulations on you NSV!

I am not a smoker but I had a coworker quit smoking and she used Chantix. It really helped her quit. Did your doctor offer a perscription for it? I would look into that if I were you.
-
Also if you were approved by UHC how did you do on the supervised diet? I have lost 10 lbs and the doctors office would like me to lose 5 more.
-
Has anyone been denied by UHC and if so why? Just curious, I am on the last month of my six month supervied diet and they will be submitting me for approval. Besides losing the 5 lbs they want me to lose this month wondering if there will be anything else standing in my way.

Finally Made The Decision To Go Forward!
kristikay replied to MrsM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have one month left of a six month supervised diet and have made up my mind since talking to the nurse and dietician on Friday. I need to lose 5 pounds this month and they think insurance will okay it and then I will have the surgery the beginning of January. Still seems so far into the future but I am sure it will go quickly. It does give piece of mind to have the decision made though and also looking forward. -

Confession: I Look For Success Photos To Reinforce My Decision
kristikay replied to buffythefatslayer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. I am doing this for my health but it sure is fun to think about being thin. I realize now that I had given up on that dream and had settled for just not gaining anymore. But now thinking it could happen for me and that is really reinforced when I see the before and after pictures and think wow could that really be my reality after the surgery. -

Hi All,i Am New And This My First Post.
kristikay replied to sweetiebell33's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Welcome!!! This is a good place to get alot of good information from people that have been there. I am pre=surgery and had my psych evaluation and nutrition appointment today. i am still deciding what I want to do, surgery or not and then by-pass or sleeve. One thing I learned today was binging is contra indicated for the sleeve so you will want to get a handle on that before the surgery. What I thought of as binge eating was not what the counselor considered binging. Also on this forum 190 is far from alot and you have a pretty low BMI so you are starting this way before most of us, wish I would have done this years ago but better late than never. -
I have UHC insurance and they told me to expect it to take a month. I was surprised it would take that long, maybe they don't want to set expectations to high. I hope you hear something soon!

Everything went okay for me today. My psych eval went well and she is okaying me for the surgery. I have one month left and am supposed to lose 5 pounds this month which should be a piece of cake, pardon the pun. The weight loss isn't required but they said it goes along way with the insurance company in showing you are committed to the program. Glad you got the answers you were looking for and I agree that talking to them in person is much more effective.

I am on the six month supervised diet also and tomorrow have my fourth appointment with my NUT also see the PA and have my psych eval. I am nervous because I am sure I gained weight this month. I had some family issues, work issues and money issues and lost focus long enough to put back on some of my weight, hopefully not all of it. They have never told be I had to lose a certain amount but still I am so upset that I have to go in there and be a failure at losing weight again. But besides the weight gain issue I have so any questions, I first need to find out if they will do the sleeve surgery instead of the traditional bypass. Well it gave me some comfort that not everyone excels at losing on this supervised diet and still is able to have the surgery. Good Luck and I hope everything goes smoothly for you and we both are able to hae the surgery soon.

Wow there is a big difference in how much time people take off. I have so many questions. I see the PA next week.na dhope to get some information. I first need to find out if they will do the sleeve instead of bypass. I hate t not knowing so much about what will happen. I have been on a six month supervised diet and haven't lost any weight this month and hoping I didn't gain back what I have lost. i am afraid I am messing up my change for insurance to pay for the surgery by not being better at the dietl It's frustrating... and I know so many people on here have the same issues. I quess in relation to time off work I am hoping I can get the food thing figured out before I go back to work. that is another thing I am not sure of, if I can take short term disability and how much money I will get when I am off work.
-
I am surprised at how fast people are able to go back to work. I am kind of a whimp, I am hoping to be off as long as I can. I am wondering if the recovery relates to age... Glad you are doing okay!
-
How long were you off work and how are you feeling?
-
I have the same problem with my android phone.

I am on a six month medically supervised diet prior to getting approved. One of the things my nutritionist wants me to do is space my food out with my liquids and not drink anything with my meals. I am REALLY struggling with this and is really the only thing I am concerned I won't be able to do. what has been your experience with this? Is it important to do this and if you do not drink with meals,d oes it get easier?

Backache Since Surgery 4 Weeks Ago
kristikay replied to Getting There's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been going to chiropractors for years and they help me more than anything else. You need to find a good one that will listen to your concerns. I had low back surgery and my doctor stays away from that area but when I start getting neck pain and headaches the cure is seeing the chiropractor. -
Wow that is really exciting. I am happy for you!!!
-
Glad everything is going so well and it is wonderful you are getting your diabetis under control. I am wonering if they wanted you do have bypass or if they recommended the sleeve? I got the feeling my surgeon thought bypass was better for diabetics than the sleeve. I am hoping to get the sleeve over the bypass. I am not diabetic but my blood sugar has been rising over the past two years and am definetly prediabetic.
