BM questions-kind of embarrassed
kristikay replied to TXBell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on the 22nd also and I have had the opposite problem I haven't gone for over a week. I haven't had any discomfort from it yet but I am worried I will soon. My diet is different than most as I have three double milks a day That is skim milk with sugar free instant breakfast or dry milk mixed with it. They do not want us to use protein powder at all and I am okay with that. I have been eating alot of sugarfree popsicles and that helps with getting liquids in.. -

Feeling Overwhelmed
kristikay replied to bcorder82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just sleeved on Thursday. Tonight my family went out to eat. I know the feeling but I am trying to concentrate on the long term results of the surgery but its not helping much. -
I am four days out from surgery and have to take my pulse and heart rate twice a day. If my pulse is over 110 or temperature is over 100.5 I am suppose to call in as it could b a sign of a leak.I would keep checking it and if it get over 110 I would give them a call. Do you have a Temperature?

My surgery is Tuesday. I had my pre-op visit on Thursday so everything is all set. I didn't expect the visit to be so long, I met with two surgeons separately, the physicians assistant, the nurse and the dietitian, I had a ekg and a chest xray and blood work and then met with the anethesian. (sorry spelled that wrong) I got so much information my head was spinning but never once did I feel like not going through with it. I have been on a blended diet for two weeks and today was about the worse day I have had, but it probably because I wasn't eating enough nor getting all the protein I needed. Had a greek yogurt and some mashed potatoes and doing better. I miss real food and know it is going to be quite some time before I eat chewable food again and it was getting to me. I just keep telling myself being thin and healthy is worth it. Tomorrow I have to go to Walmart and get my prescriptions filled for after the surgery and the "food" I will need, call my family doctor to get her okay to go off my blood pressure medicine and get my house clean.

No C-PAP Machine Following Surgry
kristikay posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had my preop visit yesterday and found out I can't use my c-pap machine for 2 weeks after surgery. Has anyone else been told that? I am very dependent on it and the few times in the past few years I haven't been able to use it for some reason I am really messed up the next day so the thought of not using it for 2 weeks is making me very worried.. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and if using oxygen might be an option? If it is I might check with my doctor tomorrow. My surgery is Tuesday. -
Me too, surgery tomorrow that is. I am feeling pretty calm. I have things today to get ready for tomorrow and afterwards so I am not working. You are lucky you go first thing mine isn't until 12:30 so I am araid my freak out time will be in the morning. I am sure we will do great and by tomorrow night we will be through recovery and on our way to a healthy and skinnier life.

It has to do with the pressure of the air I believe. -

I have my surgery Tuesday. I hope everyone is doing well and if they are doing a preop dietthat it going well. Getting excited but some anxiety and nervousness too! -
Sounds good! I have my preop tomorrow and am waiting to get my short term disability approved and am hoping nothing goes wrong at the last minute. My husband really doesn't want me to have the surgery and that is starting to weigh on me.

please help! I afraid I will chicken out
kristikay replied to himalaya62's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am having my surgery on Tuesday and had/have a lot of the same concerns but from reading posts on here and talking to my NUT I think we will be able to have a normal life after awhile. We will just have smaller portions and need to limit our alcohol a bit more but I don't think that we can never have a drink again. Mine NUT said a drink or two down the road will be okay just not carbonated. That is a biggy for me because i love beer! But I will love being thin and healthy more! -
I am having my surgery on Tuesday and have been very open and honest about having the surgery but lately I have been having second thoughts about sharing. I am afraid it is going to put more pressure on me. Everyone seems to think I will be skinny in no time and It will be easy for me because I am having the surgery.

I am on my eighth day and yesterday it finally got better for me. I didn't feel hungry but would get a burning pain in my stomach. Glad it got better I was beginning to think I wouldn't be able to do it. Tomorrow I have my preop visit and my surgery is next Tuesday. When is yours? -
Just sent you a request to add you as a friend on MFP. I have been using it for a week and love it. It is so easy to use, much better than weight watchers that I paid for, for many years,

High protein peanut butter chocolate smoothie-made without protein powder!
kristikay commented on DUBrookie03's blog entry in DUBrookie03's Blog
I will have to try this but like Lisa said I may try it with the chocolate pudding mix instead of making the pudding and add extra milk. I have some greek yogurt that I can't eat with out doctoring it up. -
i should be more nervous
kristikay replied to FireRose's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still have a little over a week to go but am pretty calm. If you are like me you did a lot of research and have given it a lot of thought and are confident in your decision so I hope I am like you and am not to nervous. -
I am not an expert as I haven't had my surgery yet but I would not weigh myself more than once a week. There is to much pressure if you weigh yourself everyday.

Day 1 of Pre-Op Diet
kristikay replied to ericarae11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the same surgery date and start my diet today also! I am excited to finally get to this stage and looking forward to all the good things to come! Good luck to you. What does your preop diet look like? Mine is a liquid diet alternating between 800 and 1200 calories a day. My doctors don't have us use protein powder so that is a bit different. -
I'm so confused and scared
kristikay replied to hnkids3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did a lot of research on the lap band also and when I had my first appointment with my surgeon he said that they really were not recommending the band anymore but if I wanted it he would do it. Since then I have only been hearing negative things about the lapband and have decided to go with the gastric sleeve. With insurance I don't think the requirements are different with the sleeve than the lapband. Are you self pay and is that why you want the lap band because it's cheaper? From what I now know I would never have the lapband. A lot of people that had them did not lose the weight or had complications and had to have it removed. This is seems much safer, no foreign object in your body and no having to get adjustments by injecting saline into the port. Once you research the sleeve I think you will get more comfortable with it. I choose it over the gastric bypass because it seems much simpler and does not move your intestines and you do not have the malabsorption issues. -
I enjoy reading your blog. I think its good to have a place to share your story. I started a blog on this site also and like you thought about doing on a blog site but too much hassle and I like that on this format we are all on the same journey. I haven't written much on my blog but would like to have a record of a my journeyl
