I have been having extreme headaches for the past two weeks. Today I woke up with a headache and it has been horrible. I haven't been able to eat or drink all day. It feels like my head is going to explode. I am just wondering if this has anything to do with the surgery. Has anyone else had this issue? I definitely will be calling my doctor tomorrow. I just am worried and scared this was not a problem I was expecting.

I agree I am 4 weeks out and seem to go back and forth from having an appetite and then not even wanting to eat. -
Congrats and good luck. You'll be on the other side before you know it.

So disappointed in myself!

Okay I have been thinking about this because I also use the sugar free carnation instant breakfast on my plan. One package is 5 grams of protein which adds up to 20 grams a day. I don't think calorie wise or protein wise you are getting enough. If you mixed it with skim milk you would get 52 grams of protein. Is there any reason you can't use skim milk instead of water. I think if you were getting more protein you would feel better about the diet. Not that you should go against what your doctor told you but I would double check. -
Congratulations you look wonderful! I am much older but my starting weight was close to yours and look forward to having the same results although it may go slower at my age. Are you doing any exercising?

Surgery date was 1/22/13 and I have only lost 16 pounds
kristikay replied to bex6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't use Protein shakes but I have either yogurt, cottage cheese or scrambled eggs for each meal. I also have three glasses of skim milk a day and if I don't get enough protein I add a package of sugarfree carnation instant Breakfast. I haven't started with meats or fruits or vegetables much yet. What ate you eating? I am tracking my foods on MFP. It tracks calories and protein so it's easy to see if you are going over with calories and getting enough protein. -

Both of you have relatively low starting weights so that might be why you are losing slower. I was sleeved the same day and have lost 24 pounds including the preop diet. I am at a much higher starting weight though. -
3 weeks out- quanity of food/liquid consumption.
kristikay replied to boatdays's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am three weeks out, I eat package of cream of wheat made with skim milk for breakfast, a 6 oz greek yogurt for lunch and a scrambled egg and half a banana for dinner. I have 3 cups of sugarfree chocolate milk for snacks. I have not been good about getting in my water and am trying to get more today. I also eat cottage cheese and peaches for a meal also. I'd love some new ideas and go to soft foods in one more week. -
I have been sleeved about three weeks and it gets better! I felt very down and questioned my decision for a few days myself but as the days go on it got better. I don't think there is a magical cure but as you feel better and can eat more things I think you will start to feel better and not regret your decision.

Wow 30 lbs seems to be a lot. JuliannaJ offered some good advice. I am going to look for the sugar free fudgesicles. I find tracking my food on My Fitness Pal works well for me.

Why do you have to lose 30 lbs before the surgery if you are self pay?
-
Well its been 10 days since my surgery and these are my thoughts so far. 1. It has been better in many ways then I thought it would be, no vomiting, no nausea, no gas pains, no bathroom issues, 2. It has been harder in that I still want to eat, I miss food! I feel depressed and so much of my social life revolved around food and drinks I not sure how to balance the changes with being in those situations. 3. I am off work for two more weeks and don't have the energy I want to exercise and getting some small projects done while I am home. I feel like my butt has been glued to my recliner and have started to go a bit stir crazy. 4. I have not been drinking enough water or exercising enough. 5. I have lost 22 pounds since I started my preop diet a month ago. I stalled at a week out from my surgery and the scale hasn't budged in a few days. 6. I didn't hide the fact that I was having weight loss surgery so I feel like when I do start back to work and being out in public everyone will expect me to have dropped a ton of weight. That is what my boss asked me a few days after the surgery "have you lost a ton of weight?" Changes to make: 1. Exercise 30-60 minutes of walking or exercise bike a day. 2. Weight resistance exercise 30-60 minutes a day. 3. Plan out snacks and meals and water and track on MFP. 4. Plan out projects to work on while I am home. Hopefully with these changes I will see the scale move once again and feel less depressed

How much did you have to pay upfront?
kristikay replied to futuresleever's topic in Insurance & Financing
I had my done at a state hospital and did not pay anything up front. -
That is a good story. I can't believe thay are making him wait so long to get the skin removed.
-
I wouldn't have been able to go anywhere at that time. But yes are recoveries are all different, I was exhausted and couldn't stay awake and my incisions were very sore.

Thanks for the reminder. I am good at taking my multivitamin but often skip the B12 but won't do that anymore! Just took it.

so mad I don't want to eat anymore!
kristikay replied to breeevans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remembered my doctor told me about a Sleeve "tube" Stenosis. It is a tightening of a portion of the tube. The symptoms are vomiting after eating, having a sticking sensation when eating, inability to tolerate foods once eaten, pain when eating solid food. It usually manifests itself at four weeks after surgery. It can be treated as an outpatient procedure. The last thing my info mentions is to not let the problem to continue several days before calling. If this just started and hasn't been an issue all along maybe this is the issue. -

This doesn't seem normal for being out 4 weeks. Have you spoke to your doctor? If you haven't I would definitely call tomorrow. -
Has Anyone Had Trouble WithProtein Shakes?
kristikay replied to Nate74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't use protein powder at all. I can get my protein in with drinking skim milk and my food. I track it on MFP. I am supposed to get 50-60 grams a day. I do use carnation sugarfree instant breakfast and that mixed with a cup of skim milk is 13 grams of protein.I seem to be the only one on here that goes to a doctor that does not recommend using protein powder. -
That's interesting. If they don't recommend Protein shakes/ bars, how do you get through the liquid phase? For my preop it was a blended diet and I could have skim milk, carnation Breakfast (sugarfree) , greek yogurt, regular yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs. I only was on a full liquid diet for one week after the surgery and used skim milk with the instant breakfast or added powdered milk to it. It is not to hard to get the protein in without the Protein powder. I try to get 50 to 60 grams of protein a day.

I was able to look at your pictures in your gallery. What a transformation!!! How long did it take you to get to your goal weight? -
I think you will be very happy with your decision. So many people are having problems with the band and my doctor's office doesn't recommend them anymore.

Congratulations!!! I am sure it is a great feeling.
