It has been quite awhile since I checked in here. About three weeks after my WLS I started a bout of cluster headaches. I had not had cluster headaches for 18 years and not sure why they started up again. I did some research and my two best guesses are that the weight loss released a large amount of hormones stored in the fat the somehow triggered the headaches or they were caused by using morphine in the hospital. Cluster headaches are headaches that hit in a cluster, mine were hitting about four to five time a day and they are extremely painful, The nickname for cluster headaches is suicide headaches. Anyway i worked with my doctor and used different medications and Oxygen therapy and now they are much better but the strange thing was that during the whole headache ordeal I did not lose any weight. I was not eating much at all and trying to stay on my program although was not exercising at all. Now I feel like I am so far behind were I should be and were everyone else is, I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but s is hard not to. I even stayed away from VST because I was feeling like such a failure. I have lost a couple more pounds since the headaches lessened so trying to take that as a positive sign. Now if I can start exercising I can make up some lost ground.

19 Lbs down gain back 3 Lbs
kristikay replied to Determined_Me's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you weighing yourself daily? That can be frustrating. I am trying to weigh myself only once a week because it was driving me crazy to see my weight go up and down from day to day. Also do you keep track of what you are eating on something on My Fitness Pal? I do a much better job following my program when I track and MFP also tracks your protein so you can make sure you are getting enough. -
Does anyone find you can eat more
kristikay replied to elisa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have noticed to that some days I have much more hunger than other days. Also some days I can eat more than others. I am past that certain time of the month so not sure why it happens. -
Oh honey my heart is breaking for you. You are in an abusive relationship and you need to get our now! Please get some help if you haven't and don't wait to leave this man. The surgery is a tough thing to go through and it is not a miracle cure, you will do so much better without him. I am sorry if I am being to opinionated...

SELECTIVE SURGERY DURING SLEEVE SURGURY
kristikay replied to aaayoungs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@KRISTIK I wonder if a doctor would just prescribe them just precaution. [/quote Thats what my doctor did, it is part of the protocol following surgery if you still have your gallbladder. -
Diet Coke Addiction
kristikay replied to ChristenOnAmission's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just another person that was addicted to Diet Coke, I slowly reduced the amount I was drinking and was totally off of it a month before surgery. There are times I miss it but for the most part it hasn't been a big deal. I never would have believed it but you will find it easier than you think. -
SELECTIVE SURGERY DURING SLEEVE SURGURY
kristikay replied to aaayoungs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking Ursodiol, a prescription to help me not develop any problems with my gallbladder following surgery. So far so good. I am not sure a doctor would take out a healthy gallbladder before you are having any problems. -
I am ranting because when I get on VST the ad at the top pf the page is for Medifast and there is a picture of a brownie. I know it is a Medifast brownie but it looks really good and it is a good thing I don't have a brownie mix in the house or I would be making them. This is the one place I would like to come and not be "tempted". I am sure the Medifast brownie would suck but it looks so good!

Has anyone had their sleeve stretched?
kristikay replied to AussieLady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me about sleeve stenosis which shows up about four weeks after surgery. It is when there is a tightening of the tube. It sounds like what you have. They did tell me to fix it, it was an outpatient procedure to fix it. -

They all look good but I really like the cream top. -
I was eating 600-800 but have developed horrible headaches so I am trying to get closer to 1000 to see if that helps. I have continued to lose weight.

Belly/tummy band and medication questions
kristikay replied to Zen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was able to take all my medications right after surgery without crushing them. I think even my doctor was surprised. It just never caused a problem for me. I took the antidepressant the morning of surgery and I don't think I had it the next day but that was the only day I missed. I never used a band. -
I do like the simplicity of eating the same thing but would hate to be told that I had to eat the same thing for every meal. I never could eat fish for breakfast! This should be a tool for long term success and I don't think you could b successful if you had to eat the same thing for every meal.

I had that pain also at about two weeks out. It went away about a week later. It was pretty intense and I was wondering if I had a hernia and then it went away. Hopefully yours will do the same.

5 Weeks out and just threw up my eggs. :-(
kristikay replied to BeccaDawn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just said that to my husband last night, I feel like I did when I was pregnant. I will think something tastes great, eat it three days in a row and then it totally grosses me out. I really don't have any advice but will be looking for any advice that is posted. -
Wow what a difference a year makes. That is a lot of weight to lose in one year. What has been your eating and exercise program? Just wondering so I can see if I am on the right track. Congrats you look great!

I am 4 weeks out and let me tell you the mental issues get better. I was like you so overwhelmed with my decision and worried I had made a mistake. You are recovering from major surgery and the feelings you are having about food will get better as you heal and can eat more food. I think you need to give yourself a break and realize you are going to take time to recover, I am still hoping my sleeping goes back to normal but it is getting better.

Is your B 12 a pill you put under your tongue or you swallow? I was taking a B vitamin you swallow and switched to the one that dissolves under my tongue. It is much easier on the stomach and it has a good taste.

Headaches 4 weeks out
kristikay replied to kristikay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks I will check on these issues with my doctor. I have had cluster headaches when I was younger but haven't had them for about 20 years so I am hoping they have not returned. I also got very bad headaches before I was diagnosed with high blood pressure but once I started my medication they went away. I will check on the magnesium and also know I am not getting enough water so I will try harder on that.I should of gone to the doctor today but felt to terrible to get dressed and would have had to find someone to drive me because I was in no condition to drive. I feel better now but am afraid to go to bed because the headaches seem to wake me up from a sound sleep.
