  1. This is probably not the best advice but I started off using the domino light which is a sugar/stevia blend. It does taste better but I use very small amounts and not every day. Working my way to splenda or something similar but for a while it would give me the worst headaches.

  2. We are always here... It maybe hard because your child is not here right now. However I challah he you to take this opportunity to do something's for yourself. Go for long walks, go get a manicure, go for a swim, go read a book at beach, ride a bike, or take this as an opportunity to catch up with your friends. Embrace your independance. Life is good, and we are blessed to have our sleeves.

Thanks, I will try to do some of those things. Money is pretty tight since the surgery but I will maybe go take in a cheap movie or something.

  3. I am doing fantastic. Have lost 18 lbs since surgery 3 weeks ago. Snoring is gone. Feeling great and doc says we can possibly start lowering my BP med dosages here in a week or so!!!! I started the process at 258. I am at 222 today. Hubby is changing on me. He is flirty as he&!!! Taking me to dinner with friends tonight so he can show his good friend his "new wife"...can't imagine how he is gonna behave when I get thinner....

    That is awesome

  4. I've heard several people say that they have loud obnoxious belches right after eating since the surgery. I am kind of concerned about this since I'm a social individual. Is belching a side effect? Some please, please shed some light on this for me.

I have actually had problems with belching. It seems like the hardest thing to do when I need to. I still have air in my stomach from the surgery. It will probably depend on the individual.

  5. Some people said they had a lot of gas pain up to their shoulders which they had to walk off. I did not have that, however I did have constant air bubbles getting "stuck" in my sleeve which was annoying. That part tapered off little by little and ended by the 5th day. It is definitely going to take patience. I was on Clear liquids the first week of post op and it was hard because my family is big and they love to cook caribbean comfort foods, which I love but will not be able to eat for quite some time.

In the end it is totally worth it. Including my pre-op diet I have lost 20 lbs. I feel soooo much better and I sleep much better too. Definitely no regrets. Where did you have your sleeve done? UNC? Duke? I had mine done in Mexico but will be continuing my post op at Rex.

    Happy Healing,

    Carlota

I had my surgery at Rex. I was so ready to get out of the hospital that I would have walked home if they tried to keep me one more day. Congrats on your weight loss. This clear liquid diet is a struggle for me to keep up with the Proteins.

I know that I should take it day by day but it's the pain that is more annoying now.
