Surgery - What to expect? :/ TMI!
Sharon's last chance replied to HOLLAND's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had complications that kept me in hospital 9 days, and made my first 3 - 4 months kind of rough, leaving me some doubts if I did the right thing. The good news is those kind of complications are not common and the really great thing is that even with those troubles. I am so unbelievably happy that I did this. My life was so miserable and limited before surgery I could literly not stand or walk for more than a couple minutes with my eyes tearing up with the pain. No medicine touched that pain. Now 10 months post surgery I have gone from a high weight of 374 to 208 for a total of 166 pounds. My debilitating back pain is GONE and my knee and hip pain are much improved. I am off most of a long list of medications. The list of positives so much outweighs the negatives. I am now actually living my life, feeling good physically and regaining self esteem each day. Of course you are nervous, this is a big step, but its so worth it. I KNOW that I will reach my goal of achieving a. healthy weight which is something I never felt confident about in all my attempts to lose weight throughout my life since I was 12 - 13 years old, and believe me, I tried them all, numerous times. I will be sending prayers and positive thoughts that you will grow comfortable and confident in your decision and that you'll soon be reaping the benefits of your decision and rocking your new sleeve. Sorry this was so long. -

New to the site but here's my "size up"
Sharon's last chance replied to dfdscott's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you haven't tried the sweetener Truvia, you might want to. It is zero calorie, truly tastes like sugar, and for me, has absolutely no after taste. I would be lost without it. -
I cant be bothered with dinner i can eat most things just realy small amounts 8 weeks out

I use unjury chocolate splendor protien powder. (ordered on line) I put a little hot water in my blender and disolve a heaping teaspoon of decalf instant coffe (or more to taste). Then add 1 - 1 1/2 cups water or milk, about a tablespoon of jello chocolate instant pudding mix. and 1-2 packets of sweetener (I prefer Truvia). Blend briefly. Drink and Enjoy. You can play around with the components trying butterscotch, or vanilla pudding, vanilla protien powder, fruit etc. This works for me. Hope it helps you. Also if you have trouble getting you fluids in, try warm drinks. I found I love herb teas, like cranberry apple, caffiene free vanilla chai. -
My best friend is mad at me for having the surgery, and it makes me so sad : (
Sharon's last chance replied to Hopeful in Rochester's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Rather than assume her anger is based in jealousy, fear, etc. I would just accept her feelings. Maybe she needs time to accept this for what ever reason. Many of us were against/afraid of this surgery before we became converts. I would just let her know you love her and are ready to resume your friendship when she is. -
So embarrassed!

Make sure not dehydrated ascwell. I was very lightheaded when dehydrated. Hope you find and fix this issue quickly. -
I wear the high waist panty, thigh length, and I love the open bust camisole. You wear your own bra so it doesn't flatten your girls. With the two, you get great coverage, no bubble over. Sometimes I just wear the top and still get good results.

You should really do what your surgeon and the bariatric team ask you to do, pre and post op. Doing so will give you the best shot at fewer complications and a good outcome. I know its not easy, but it is necessary. I'm surprised you just learned that you need to quit smoking. Although you've left yourself a little short on time to lose weight, just get started and you might be surprised at how much you could lose pre surgery. Don't give up. Hard as this is, its completely worth it. I wish you strength and courage to do what needs to be done, trouble free surgery and recovery and amazing success toward reaching your goals. Will be watching and celebrating your success! -

I found that I can drink a lot more liquid if I choose hot fruit flavor herb teas like bigelows cranberry apple (or any brand of fruit flavored tea that you like), sweetened with truvia sweetner. Some times I add a quarter of a cup of orange/peach/mango juice to 2 cups of water with 2 tea bags. Also add some cinnamon. Can also add a bit of Crysta, instead if juice. I use oeange flavor. l It tastes great, goes down easy, and warms me up. I generally drink at least 6 cups of this each day. Rather than being something I have to force down, it is a pleasure. I also love Good earth decaf vanilla chai tea, again sweetened with truvia. Hope you find something you can enjoy. -

Amazing weightloss! Congratulations. Would like to hear how this loss has impacted your health. -
I think I'm having an out of body experience. I know this must be true because this body looks and acts nothing like the one I've lived in for sooo many years. The back and knees I knew were so painful I couldn't walk or stand for more than 2-3 minutes. My old head sat directly on my shoulders without a neck. Now I have a real, if not swan like neck. I never had collar bones. rib bones, hip bones or those cute little shoulder bone, all of which are emerging.. My old face had no real features like chin bones ccheekbones and contours. all of which had disappeared into fat. Now Bones and contours are making an appearance. And oh, by the way, has anyone seen my cleavage. It used to sit just under my chin and now I can barely find it! Lets not forget about the tail bone. I'm not crazy about that one cause it hurts when I sit down. I have lost 20 inches from my wast and 6 inches from my neck. I still want/need to lose between 50 - 60 pounds, but compared to the 163 pounds I've already lost, this is not daunti.g or discouraging. This wasn't all easy, but neither was "my so called life" before therapy and surgery. Every tough moment fades away compared to the poitives I am experiencing. Long post, but my point is it was so worth it. I'm so happy that I did this. I have to pinch my self to be sure I'm not dreaming. Folks on this site will never know how much they helped me through the rough spots and the joy and hope I have recieved and continue to recieve through this site. Thank you all.
