Just wanting some input... How come we can eat Soup with veggies and Cereal with milk but we can't have a small sip with or right after meals? What's the difference? Jess...Surgiversary 9/19/12

A lot of it has to do with how much you have to lose. My goal is almost a hundred, some people need to lose 2-3 hundred. Those people will lose a lot faster than I will. My doc said a reasonable way to look at it is you should be at 50% of total loss by 6 months. It's different for each of us. Jess...Surgiversary 9/19/12

I am a little over a month out and there hasn't been one easy thing yet! This has been the hardest thing I've been through. I've cried, I've been mad, I've even wondered "what did I do." This lifestyle change is very emotional! Everyone is different and each of us have our own story but I'm sure everyone will tell you it's definitely NOT an easy way out! Good luck on your journey! No, my esophagus is eroding. They put me back on liquids. Soooooo basically starting over to allow it to heal. They also changed one of my meds. Still can't get enough fluid or protein in. My doc told me that my hair would definitely start falling out in the next few months. I'm convinced this surgery is gonna be the death of me. Jess...Surgiversary 9/19/12

At the start I had a hundred pounds to lose. My surgeon said he wasn't too concerned about carbs or calories right now since I didn't have hundreds to lose. They want me to focus on Protein and fluids. I have had complications but nothing related to my diet. CHECK WITH YOUR SURGEON AND/OR DIETICIAN! There is no set standard (for anything, I'm learning.) Welcome.... My surgery was on 9/19. We started a forum called "September Members" we also started a Facebook support for our Sept people. We figured we would all be going going through the same things about the same time! Everyone on this site is awesome! My esophagus was eroding. Still trying to figure out a medicine for me...uhg! Hey there everyone, just wanted to vent! I'm almost a month out and still feel like crap! Everyday I have massive headaches and feel fatigued. My blood pressure has been a little weird, this morning it was 110/95. I want to work out but I can't feeling like this. I go back to work in two weeks.....ahhhhhhhh! I know I'm not getting enough liquid but I don't know what to do. I sip and eat ice all day long and it's still not enough. Not getting in nearly enough Protein either. liquids really don't sit well. Yesterday when I attempted to drink a Protein shake, I ended up taking antinausea meds and had to lay down. I just figured by now I would be feeling much better =( Jess...Surgiversary 9/19/12

What they prescribed me has a special coating on it that can't be crushed. It's almost like an egg shell when you try to crush it. It's also supposed to help heal the erosion in my esophagus. I'm just soooooo tired of feeling bad! I've got a massive headache all the time. I have no energy. This was the worst decision of my life! Jess...Surgiversary 9/19/12

I asked my doctor how big it would be. I was told the size of a golf ball to start. It will eventually be about the size of an egg. We all have the ability to stretch our pouches by eating the wrong foods or by eating too much! Good luck with your journey! Jess...Surgiversary 9/19/12

Well, went to take my new med that I was told to crush.... GUESS WHAT.... It can't be crushed! You would think my surgeon would know that! I am beyond mad! The kicker, it comes in granules. So now I get to wait till Monday. Maybe I wasn't supposed to have this surgery or ever feel better again! Jess...Surgiversary 9/19/12

They tell you that you will be sore but that's about it. I think you should have to take a pain management class. For me it was about three weeks. I'm a month out today. Physically I feel fine. I've got some other issues going on but pain free as far as the surgery goes. It does get better, I'm sure you are tired of hearing that. I know I was...lol. Take care everyone! My regular doctor had me on ranitadine. I was having problems crushing all my meds and this was a liquid. It's basically liquid zantac. The problem-it contains 7.5% alcohol. Also I'm on a very strong antibiotic for an abscess tooth. They said it would destroy a regular stomach let alone a small one. They now have me on protonics. I took it years ago.
