Colon Cleanse please help
atelux17 replied to Carol Watts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mag citrate. Senokot&MOM. Suppository? But increasing Fiber is better than training your system to rely on laxatives. Fiber gummies or chewable. I lace my crystal light with fiber powder. Wish you all the best! -
I'm single& 30. Sleeved 11/16/12. I live in central Illinois, not exactly a hotspot but I love all my funny, hard-working midwesterns. I'm celibate--I sell a bit and I give a little bit away. Jk. I love that joke tho. Hoping for love& lust in 2013.

Anyone out there an RN?
atelux17 replied to conshy416's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 6wks. I work 12 hrs on a surgical trauma floor with a lot of lifting. -
I'm an RN who recently had VSG on 11/16. I'm making a poster about bariatric surgery. Part of the poster is about why people have weight loss surgery. I thought of few things, but if anyone has something I can add or research I'd love to hear. Here is what I have so far: Why choose weight loss surgery? 1. 95% of diets fail leading to wt regain or increased weight 2. Resolution of comorbidities: sleep apnea, diabetes, joint pain, depression, mobility issues etc 3. Difficult to treat obesity without surgery as a tool due to addiction to food, social& physical barriers to losing weight 4. Cost of obesity: extra medical expenses, food costs 5. Improvement in mood, energy, & interpersonal relations 6. Increases life span& allows for a more active life Thanks guys!

November 2012 sleevers how are you doing ?
atelux17 replied to cnunez77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HW: 245 SW: 226lbs CW: 193lbs Total loss of 52lbs, 33lbs since surgery on 11/16. I'm happy so far. I realized I was down more than 50lbs on my bday on Jan 20. Best present ever. -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Birthday Buddy!!! we're in the same boat. i turned 30 (unceremoniously) on 1/20/13. But I was happy for the first time on my bday even tho I have no man, nobody at home & the big 3-0 that I've been dreading for we'll over a decade. I had to work all wknd despite requesting it off in August( I was thinking of taking a xanax& spending it on the beach). But even though my BFF is cussing me out of jealousy& I didn't get presents or a cake, I did lose 52lbs in total. I'm healthy after a major operation. Maybe your family didn't want to tempt u with food? Some things go unspoken. But u did get texts& that's sending u some love. Find your happiness within. You already took a great step forward. Congrats!!!!!!!!!

protein is making me sick
atelux17 replied to msreaina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Isopure or nectar. Chicken stock unjury. Is it absolute intolerance or just doesn't taste good? Unjury cheese sauce saved my life, 21 G protein per serving. Tastes like tuna helper sauce so super fake. -
I bought a 4oz glass measuring cup for $1.50 at Meijer. Drinking V8 from it right now. Keeps me honest with portion sizes.

nasojejunum tube placement pending
atelux17 replied to NORCALRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I would totally go with the J tube placement just for comfort's sake. The NJ can trigger your gag reflex& like you said with the NG is very irritating. -
What does everyones daily meals consist of.
atelux17 replied to kurt1967's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 months out. B: spinach frittata w/ham. Or Scrambled egg whites with cheese. L: Atkins bar. Shrimp with cocktail sauce. Rotisserie chicken with zucchini. lunch meat w/cheese. D: same as lunch. Or Ground turkey with salsa& wedge of light laughing cow. Black bean Morningstar burger w/ lt mayo& low sugar ketchup&green Beans. Turkey loaf. S: v8 w/sriracha. Light string cheese. Or edamame. Fish (halibut, trout, tilapia) sautéed in smart balance butter&spray capers. Pickles. I limit it to 3 oz portions. I keep calories under 800& try to keep carbs under 30, but i miss fruits & veggies!!!Sw: 226lbs. Down to 198lbs. I wish I'd lose faster. -
I would do it again! I've lost 28lbs since sleeved 11/16. That's the most I've lost in the past 7 years& I'm under 200lbs for the 1st time in 8 yrs. those are major victory for me. I had internal bleeding, fell, ruptured a lap site& lost half my blood. Big whoop. That's a relatively small complications ( take it from me the surgical nurse). I feel fantastic. Even though I did not have the optimal experience everyone else described, I didn't lose 40lbs in a month. I still have to work for it, but I would never have kept these pounds off or had portion control or satiety without the surgery.

November 2012 sleevers how are you doing ?
atelux17 replied to cnunez77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Day of surgery. 226 lbs. Sleeved 11/16. Today I'm 199lbs. 27 lbs down. 46 lbs total. Wish i was a faster, bigger loser. But i stopped walking during the cold weather& have been eArting up to 1 oz of carbswith meals. Average 600 calories. I'm gonna do better. Veggies as my sides& back to walkies. -
2 to 2.5 oz of ground turkey mixed with neman's medium salsa & a wedge of laughing cow light cheese.
-
I'd say, "I made the right choice for me. I'm very well informed about this surgery. (Unlike your ignorant ass that will likely regain in a year or in a time of stress) Im sorry your friend has problems, but you cannot judge someone's situation unless you've lived it& I knew what I needed to do to help me lose weight."

Eating out while still on post op diet?
atelux17 replied to lilricanliz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lately, I think i must be worst WLS patient ever. I ate panera broccoli & cheddar soup& egg drop soup when i was on purees( week 4). While on soft I ate outback tilapia with lump crab(delish!!!), maybe 3 oz& bite of baked potato. All the foods were technically allowed& fit into my diet. It was the puréed food that drove me to it. I never want to eat anything that texture again. -
Eating out! How do you sleevers do it?
atelux17 replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I eat grilled chicken or fish mostly. If its a chain restaurant i look up the foods. My concern is I'm not good at gauging my portion size& love carbs. . I know about the comparison to a deck of cards but I just don't like that i don't know For sure how much I'm eating or how it was prepared. I'm 7 wks out& concerned about overeating& stretching my sleeve.i eat until almost full. However, my need for socialization (& food addiction) leads me to eat out. To me, it's appealing that some restaurants don't have healthy choices like TGIF. & why can't customers order smaller sizes or a kid's meal? -

Why weight loss surgery?
atelux17 replied to atelux17's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks guys!!! Great input! -
Yes unless your doc specifies to restrict fluid intake due to cardiac or renal issues. Initially my book said 4 oz per hr but then up to 8 oz is ok per my doctor.
