  1. I had a good fill and took a multi-vitamin. It was my first and only experience of something being stuck in my band. Salivated over sink for 45 minutes. Good information about the size of the band hole. I have those gel capsules that have fish oil, etc. It appears the same size as the vitamin that hurt me, but it's soft, not hard. What do you think? Has anyone had experience with medium or large-size gel capsules that went down ok, but not the regular multi-vitamins? Thanks for your help.
  2. I told a few people outside of family and have decided to tell most people that ask me about my weight loss (when it is finally recognizable). I struggle a little with it because there are people I don't want to know. But in general I feel very strongly not to tell people I was able to lose this weight on my own because I cannot take credit for that suddenly when I was unsuccessful for so many years. I just can't bring myself to say I'm doing a diet successfully when I've never been able to. The band leaves me no choice with so many situations which is why I'm (slowly) losing weight.
  3. Hi - I had lapband surgery Jan 9, 2007. Although it's improved a lot of my behaviors, I've noticed a big problem. I hope fills will help, but am very worried. Foods I pictured as solid before the surgery, are liquifying so much when chewed that they go down as liquids do. Things from peanuts to chips. I know we aren't supposed to eat foods such as chips or cake, but I was so excited that there would be portion control. Unfortunately, all these foods that I thought would be solids aren't. I am using self control to eat the protein and control myself, but this has really put a damper on things. Anyone out there going through this? Do the fills eventually reduce the ability of these carbs to go through so easily? I knew that something like a milkshake or chocolate would go down, but I always envisioned food that needed chewing would cause a restricted feeling. I was wrong. I would be in the slow loser category mentioned on the board because of this. I do fine when I have restriction and have no choice, but when a food gives me the choice. . . This was an unexpected thing that I hope the fills eventually reduce. Thank you ahead of time for any help in this experience.
  4. Hi - Even before having lapband surgery (Jan 9, 07), I wanted to try B-12 shots to see if it helped with energy. My primary just gave me my first shot, but said that it might stimulate appetite. Of course, I don't want to do that, but I've waited so long to see if B-12 is helpful in some way that I proceeded with it. I'm not losing much due to "soft food syndrome" (ha!) so I figured now was the time to try. Did it stimulate your appetite? Did it give you more energy? Any other benefits from it? What are the usual reasons people get B-12 shots? Etc etc Also, I posted on the lapband support board about solids not being solids and being back to self-control. Not losing weight now. Lots of foods I thought would cause restriction slide on through and it was quite an unpleasant shock. Even though many bad behavours have stopped, eating lots of Protein is still keeping me at a standstill with the weight loss partly due to having to get a grip on reducing carbs. I still can't believe I'm not losing weight since I have had so many improvements. Others of you must have this problem. Any comments would be appreciated and I'm new so I'm just getting used to which boards to post under. Sorry if this was a repeat of what you read on the other board. Thanks!
