shrinkinmama replied to mrsnate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I eat the 2% cottage cheese... prarie farms or deans are the only 2 that taste good and are not thick. I use the ricotta cheese and mix it with low sugar marinara. or i mixit with a little splenda and almond extract. I have been stalled for a little over a week it is so frustrating....I feel so upset that i am doing all that i am suposed to be doing and i get nothing for all this hard work ya know! oh well i hope it will move soon. grrrr -

Kat, hey Im glad that you posted to here. I am so happy to know someone that is close by. I see that you have Dr. Wallace, he is wiht the Kane center the same place I go to. I had Dr. Kane Jr. do my surgery... I had my surgery at alexiam brothers too. They are great there! I loved the nurses and all the after care it was great. I live 10 minutes from there so it was great to be so close. After your surgery if you are ever interested in getting together and metting up about any thing let me know. I am more than willing to. Its nice to have a friend who is going through the same thing that you are. I wish you good luck on your surgery. You are going in on my 1st wedding anniversary. LOL I make my posts all over the place in hopes of getting the info I need but I have noticed that I dont get much reply on this. HA -
Tell Me Your Favorite Pureed Meals
shrinkinmama replied to mrsnate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Some things seem to go down easier. try soups perhaps they do better i think and you can add protein to them if you need to. and the greek yogart has a ton and that goes down easy too, -
Tell Me Your Favorite Pureed Meals
shrinkinmama replied to mrsnate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I eat a 1/2 a cup. Most of the time i can get it all down but sometimes i dont eat quite as much cause i start feeling that icky pressure in the chest feeling. I was sleeved on the 17th of April and have to do this puree stuff for another week. I spoke to the nutritionist today to be sure i was still on the right track and she said that i can eat that amount and if i needed more or less I could do that too but just to eat to satisfaction not discomfort. I was paranoid I was not eating right becuase i have had a stall and its making me mad, LOL -

Ugh! I Hate My Drain, Part 2!
shrinkinmama replied to kellythestarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a drain as well and it was the bain of my existance, I had it for about 10 days alltogether and I was counting down the day till I didnt have that stupid thing any more. That area is super tender.... So i got it out a week well almost two ago and it was the happiest day ever....it didnt hurt either (i was super scared of that) so thank goodness! I think that they decide if you have alot of Fluid inside of you or not if they leave the drain, I too have heard that some have it and some dont. I think it perhaps is just a safety precaution as it can cut down on infections and stuff too I would think if the goo isnt inside you. IDK just guessing. But good luck I would just rip the bastard out myself if they told me that,. LOL -
Tell Me Your Favorite Pureed Meals
shrinkinmama replied to mrsnate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hooray! I was so excited to star my puree...you would think that I was eating for the first time ever. So some things that i eat are Egg salad, made by pureeing eggs, a little miracle whip, sweet relish, mustard and salt and pepper Crab salad, made by pureeing imitation crab, miracle whip, papricka, onion powder Tuna/chicken salad, made by pureeing the canned tuna or chicken with miracle whip, sweet relish, salt and pepper. Basically any kind of salad you can puree as long as you dont add the Pasta. Also, a receipe I heard from another member was to mix a can of tuna, 1/2 cup cottage cheese, and a 1/2 cup of refried Beans and blend it all togeher. I did it and it was actually pretty good. You can try ricotta chees, parmasean and some no/low sugar marinara sause, heated up or baked. I have also made refried beans with greek yogart as sour cream and then some cheese melted on top. I have also had some keifer drinkable ygart. I went to Aldi and i bought some frozen crab cakes and put them in the microwave and then just pureed it wiht some lemon juice. Not sure if you like seafood but it was super yum. I also have some canned Soup that is high in Protein and lower in fat that i have pureed and sometimes I add unflavored protein power to it to make it higher in protien. You can get oatmeal, malt o meal or anything like that too and make that in the microwave and add milk or some gree yogart and a bit of cinnamon and that is good too. Oh and one last thing... you can puree a little bit of fruit or use baby food with the greek yogart and or cottage cheese for a high protein punch too,. and I almost forgot i bought some laughing cow cheese triangles...they are super creamy and easy to eat along with Peanut Butter but that is only occasionally cuase its high in fat but for a little treat once and while its good. I have been at this for a week so you can pretty much puree anything as long as its high in protein. Let me know if you have other questions. -
I got it on line through amazon. all you have to do is type in benefiber. you can get a can of it or the individual packs. it was not overly pricy, at least i didnt think it was.

My stomach makes all sorts of noise and i think that is just the motion getting going to move the food on down. I have been doing the purees and am so happy to not be eating liqid all the time. However the 3 week stall i have heard is totally normal so they say to be patient. I know so much easier said than done.... -

I vote for number 1 becuase i cant get number 2 to open but if it is a graduaded bob that is the shorter version of nuber 1 and that is super cute. -

Let's Get This Forum Going :)
shrinkinmama replied to JaspersGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey my Chicago Sleevers! My name is Juli and I was sleeved on the 17th of April. I was glad to see that this group was started as I am always looking for others that are nearby that have had the same thing I have had done. I am always thinking of questions and really am not sure where to turn. I currently am in my 3rd week and have not lost a pound for 3 weeks so I am feeling a bit frustrated. I have heard that this is normal but i cant help but think that I am doing something wrong, ya know? Any one experience this before? -
I have been mixing it with broth or milk, just a small amount of liquid and only a little bit at a time. Kind of like when you use flour to thicken stuff when you are cooking. Then what i do is pour the canned stuff in the pan on a lower heat. i then slowly wisk in the broth/protein mixture. I dont let it get super hot, just enough to get it to the soup consistancy. It seems to stay good then. Are you using a good quality protein? if not that could cause the clumping issue. I am using Beneprotein.

Anyone Had Staples On Incision Sites?
shrinkinmama replied to Kandi24z's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow thats a bit crazy that they are leaving them in so long. did you ask them when they were going to tak them out? I would say that as long as they are not red and irritated you are ok. -
I have PCOS and i have lost 25 lbs already since the two weeks before and then after my surgery on the 17th. 10 before on the protein shakes and the rest after. I started at 305 and now am 280. I actually believe that loosing weight is good for the PCOS. Actually I had to stop the birth control before due to blood clots so i got my period then and then it came after surgery too and that is pretty normal...

New To Il & Researching The Sleeve!
shrinkinmama replied to mariamaria1070's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Maria, I just had my sleeve done on tuesday the 17th of April. I am doing great. I have known some people who have had the band and have had nothing but issues. I didnt like the idea of somethin being inside me like that either and the weekly fills etc didnt appeal to me. so I decided on the sleeve. Less invasive than the bypass. I didnt want to be re routed. I had my surgery at Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove. I see Dr. James Kane at the Kane center for Bariatric surgery. Great place, every one is so nice and they are well known. If you just google the Kane center you will see the web site. You first start out by going to an informational seminar where they talk about all three surgeries and show you a video of each surgery and then you can ask questions to the dr. Feel free to ask me any thing you want. I know its only been just two weeks buT ill do my best, -
Anyone Had Staples On Incision Sites?
shrinkinmama replied to Kandi24z's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im sure this is a bit late to post to but i had my staples in 4 of my incisions for 3 days and then the ones around my big incision and my drain came out a week or so after my surgery. neither hurt -
Hey all you guys that are looking to add protein,. I went online and ordered something called beneprotein. You can get it in individual packets or in a tub. i add it to soups and other things like juice. I am only in my second week so I am doing liquids. I take a can of cream soup and some milk and before i mix them together i wisk in 3 packets of protein to the milk. that added 21 grams of protein. I then pour them into ice cube trays and freeze. It is super easy to throw 5 of them in a mug and microwave them and I get extra protein.
