    Not Losing

I didn't hit my groove losing weight til probably 2 months after surgery. A lot of people don't lose until they have 5,6,7,8cc in their band. Give it time, I'm sure you will be losing weight very soon!
  4. Hey everyone! I got my band back in June 2012. I had never had any surgery before and wasn't sure how I would feel afterwards. I unfortuntly had all the side effects ie. constipation (from the pain meds), horrible shoulder pain, and so on. I stuck to my liquids then mushies but didn't really lose any weight during that period. Only 1 pound when I went to my first fill. Then no weight loss till i got up to the 5.5cc range. I was scared to tell anyone I had the procedure because I had no results for months. Then as soon as I felt a good amount of restriction, the weight has been falling off ever since!!! I love my decision to get the surgery and I am finally happy with my body. Still have a lot to lose but the mini miracules are amazing, crossing my legs, no need for an afternoon nap, no crazy cravings/got to eat now feelings, fitting back into old clothes! If I have any advice to give to new bandsters is to not get discouraged in the first few months after surgery with slow to 0 weight loss, a lot of people including myself didn't start losing until the 5.5cc-6cc restriction.

Finally, Got Stuck And So Happy!

Same here! I told my doctor on the 3rd Fill that I was sad because I hadn't thrown up yet, and I really wanted too. But I then explained I just wanted to know that it was working because I hadn't felt restriction yet.

I Get My First Fill Today...

Getting something is scary the first time but then you will know what to expect. I find its easier just to excuse myself to the bathroom and purge than to sit at the table in pain waiting for the food to go down. Also I make it a habit to remember the foods that get stuck not to eat them again or be very careful when eating them

    Left Shoulder Pain

My doc told me not to lie flat until most of the gas was released so I slept (or tried) in a chair for the 1st 4 days, somewhat upright and I also used a heating pad, which helped me
  8. I haven't received my first fill yet and I am not feeling full ever. I am liquids/mushies and I have to make myself stop eating because nothing is telling me that I am full. I can't wait for there to be restriction, it's what I paid for!

What Should I Be Feeling? Post Op Day 3

Im currently on day 7 and I didn't really turn a corner until day 4. The first 3 days are the worst. It also hurt when I breathed but I mad it a point to take 6-10 long slow deep breaths every hour. My doctor gave me a spirometer to breathe into. I wouldn't worry about throwing up the one time, could have been the pain meds or the pain itself. Just hang in there, the next couple of days will be so much better, I promise!

    Hair Loss

Make sure that you are eating protein 60-70g a day. Also take a vitamin called biotin...its for hair growth. It should slow down and eventually stop the loss. Also once you get to your goal weight and are just maintaining it should stop too. Congrats on the awesome weight loss!!!

    Bandster H*** Stinks

What do you mean the incisions opened two of them? I had my Surgery June 18th as well and my Doctor only waits 3 weeks to do a fill...but he also said if I ever wake up one morning and feel starved like I could eat a house then its time for the fill

    Alopecia And Hair Loss

I dont have alopecia but I did have a similar thing happen to me...I did the hcg diet for 100 days and was only consuming about 400 calories a day. Towards the end of that diet I started to lose a lot of my hair because of my low protein/calorie intake. It took about 3 months to get a handle on it by increasing my protein and taking a biotin supplement. Gained all my weight back from that diet of course. Just got banded a week ago and my doc didn't say anything about losing hair but did tell me to be intaking 60-70g of protein daily.
  15. I am day 6 and I went from thinned soups to creamy today...I am having the opposite problem...constipation...I have tried to live without the pain meds and that is helping
