All of my December sleevers...
Huntingnurse replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah my second mini-stall or adjustment broke today. I hit 275 on the 19th, then gained 2 and held until today, and this morning i was 274 cant wait to see the 60s! -
I sent the person over this the following email - think it will work? -------------- XXXX, I paid Dr. L's cash pay price as a DEPOSIT which was guaranteed to be refunded after insurance paid. I did more research and it appears that what you guys are doing now is balance billing by holding the $ 400.00 hostage. This is not allowable as both Dr. L and Dr. P are in-network providers as verified with my insurance plan. I will expect the $ 400.00 to be refunded asap. If Dr. P does not allow the refund after you speak with her on Monday, then I will contact the Texas Medical Board and United Healthcare. I'm not trying to get nasty, but I do expect you guys to uphold your end of the agreement. I don't have an excess of money and borrowed the $ 400.00 on good faith that it would be reimbursed as promised once insurance paid - and they have.
-
They are in network.

So after talking to the lady in the insurance billing at the surgeons office - she basically said they are holding the $ 400.00 because the insurance company has never approved as much as they did for the assistant for me. I told her flat out my policy ALLOWS 25% of the surgeons billable rate which is actually MORE than they billed for him. She was all like "so if we refunded the money and then the insurance company comes back at the end of the year on an audit and voids the payment because they overpaid will you pay for it?" - I said I can't pay 1100 at once but I would monthly. So yeah... they're holding it hostage b/c my insurance company paid. WTF.
-
The 400 was with a card now that you mention it. I wonder if I can reverse charges?

... I'm POST surgery... and they're pulling this crap now after I forked over the money with a promise I'd get it back after surgery. That's why I'm upset.

So Im three weeks out - been trying different solids (doc said ok as long as i chew to the point of puree). Ive been noticing too lately that sometimes Im feeling hungry. I get in my protein daily - i get in my water. Im trying to stay under 800 cals a day for weight loss - ive been snacking on dill pickle spears the last couple of days. I tolerate them fine - and theyre zero cals/carbs. Anyone else snack on them?

Im sure some of you saw my freaking out posts a day or so before surgery... But i didnt talk myself out of it. I went in to outpatient at 6:00am on Monday morning... Registered and was promptly taken back. Did all of the normal stuff, IV, etc. Talked myself out of running about five times too lol. Next thing I knew we were rolling back, i batted my eyes, then i was in my room in med surg hurting like hell. Everybody and their mom wanted to come into the room and mess with me all day and night so zero sleep plus the morphine pump had little to no effect. Morning 2 - labs drawn, ultrasound of legs done, then taken to have the swallow study done. When i got back to the room they pulled my foley shortly after - this was the second worst pain ive felt next to having the drain removed. For some reason i noticed dried blood around that area too :-/ not sure if thats normal or not plus i had slightly bloody urine in the foley at first too. Morning 3 (Day 2 Post-op) - morning labs - actually got a little sleep the night before. Around noon my surgeon came in to pull my drain - worst pain ever - and to discharge me. The drain went about 6-8" into my right side to rest by my diaphragm. Now todays my first full day home - i managed to drink two protein shakes (50g protein) but didnt get my full liquid intake. Still wondering if it was the right decision or not but each days getting easier.

Can't wait to get there myself. Luckily I just need to have a pair or two of scrubs to cover half of my week so I really don't need many clothes lol -

Mine broke a few days ago - i dropped my carbs drastically to 4-5 a day and that seemed to do the trick ? -
@iggy - im sorry that i dont know your experience but question - are you still having bad complications? How much weight have you lost? What were your complications? What was your starting weight/bmi? This is not a setup for an attack i just had a couple of curious questions since i dont know your story
-
Yeah mods should probably lock this one up. Not seeing much constructive coming from it.

Sorry to hear about your sister, but first off you're violating her privacy and HIPAA by releasing her medical history publicly on the net. I had the surgery new years eve. I knew leaks were a possibility as does anyone else who has this surgery. Hell you can die on the table giving birth to a child - do you think every woman should quit going through child birth? It's a known risk you take - sorry it happened to your sister.
