    May Sleeve Buddies!

I was sleeved May 15. I didn't do a pre op diet but I'm down 12 pounds since surgery. I still feel a bit bloated! I know this is weird but I feel like I should have lost more! Oh well...patience has never been my virtue.

3 Days Post Op And Tired Of Clears!

Question...I'm 5 days out and haven't felt full or overfilled. I am not hungry, but as per the nut I am only doing about 15 oz of Protein shake a day. But I think I could drink a whole one at once! I'm doing 4oz at a time bc I'm scared of stretching the stomach. But I'm worried I'm not going to feel full!
  3. I think I just need to post this to anyone who might understand. I don't know anyone else who has had this surgery. I'm totally full on freaking out!!! Getting vsg May 15 with Dr Roslin in NYC. I'm freaking out that my whole life will change. And that I'm having major surgery. And I can't imagine what those first 30 days will be like. And will I ever be able to eat food again. And will I ever feel like myself again. And what if....what if....what if... I feel a bit alone and crazy and worried. And I know I do this for my health but what if is a big mistake?? And most of all, I feel like a junkie about to lose her drugs. Yeah... Thanks for the space. Cinemagirl....
  4. Hi all, I'm getting my sleeve tomorrow and going through all kinds of anxiety. One issue: I live in Brooklyn, NY in a 4th floor walk-up. So I climb 55 stairs to get to my apartment. My doc said I will likely be in the hospital for two nights, but should not expect to climb those stairs. I was going to give it another 2 days, and come home Saturday (Surgery Tuesday, home Saturday?) Anyone have a clue how long it will take before I can climb that many stairs? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the info, y'all. I always say if I didn't live on a 4th floor walk-up I would be 100 pounds heavier. I figure 5 days in, I will give it a try. And if there's a fire alarm at 2am, I'll make sure my honey carries by (getting smaller by the day) backside down those stairs!

Lenox Hill Hospital New York, Ny

Ok, bought some! Going in for surgery tomorrow so I'm sort of holding my breath. Looking forward to recipes when I get done. I do wish Lenox Hill would call and tell me what time my surgery is! That hospital is not the most organized...

Lenox Hill Hospital New York, Ny

Hey Y'all. I'm getting my sleeve with Dr. Roslin at Lenox Hill on Tuesday (15th.) I TOTALLY agree about that office. I've never seen such a crazy office! Tamara left and no one could figure out who was getting my approvals taken care of. Good thing I'm so pushy!!! I'm freaking out, I admit. But I love how successful you are, rosiegirl! I wanna be like you! I sort of feel like I haven't had enough nutritional counseling from the office, though. I'm still sort of unclear what the first 30 days are going to be like. I downloaded a paper from Columbia Hospital that had a lot more foods that the handout we got. Not quite sure what to do, so I will likely wind up just drinking a lot of Protein shakes. Good thing GNC has their Lite drink on sale 50% off in NYC right now!

    Dr Geller

Hmmm...I haven't used him but I grew up next door to him and am still in touch with him. I have called/emailed to ask him about my surgical options in NYC, and what was best for me. I know him to be a great guy and a good doctor. He was very open about options with me, took time as a friend to go over his thoughts. I trust him as a person, and would go to him if I still lived in Louisville...
  9. One more question, MammaBear... Can you put that into an audio file and send it to me so I can listen to it on repeat???
  10. You've got a point there, Biggiesmallz. That would be the end of the surgeries! When I was freaking out at my doctor last week, he predicted (rightly) that I was also scared to fly. That the truth is...once we make this choice and enter the OR, we have no control. So just trust your doctor and the good folks at the hospital and know the incidence of problems with the sleeve are minimal. 1% get a leak. And there have been no deaths associated with the sleeve.
  11. I'll be thinking of my May 15 sisters that day too! My doc didn't do the pre op diet so I feel sort of u prepared for the sudden change. I have no spleen and had most of my pancreas removed due to a previous tumor so he says there's a ton of room in there :-). Thanks everyone for letting me know I'm not alone. And the advice is great.
  12. All right...so we can do this together. Rosac80 that is So good to hear.
  13. OMG you read my mind. I'm freaking out now that I made the choice to do this. I haven't quite scheduled a date but am in the process of scheduling the endoscopy and cat scan prior to surgery. I can't believe I'm doing something so extreme. Also, on these forums I've been reading about leaks and i'm so scared of this happening to me. Will it be worth all the trouble if I wind up with a leak? I have to admit, coming on this board has helped a lot. I just have to remain positive. I am getting married in June 2013 and I want to start my married life as a healthy woman without health issues as my shadow.... Thanks for this thread. Glad to know this is "normal" -Alex
