Tell Me About Your New Clothes

I'm right there with y'all! I'm so thankful for Ross and Forever 21. I have found their clothes are rather inexpensive, so I can afford the quick wardrobe changes a little easier. Always try on their stuff before you buy it though. In one shirt you may need a small or a medium and the next shirt a large is nowhere close to buttoning- comes with the price I guess! I also try to buy my jeans a little on the tighter side so I can get as much wear out of them as possible before I need a smaller size. It's so crazy to think I have an entire closet of clothes that I've had to get rid of! It's such a great feeling! I did find the other day that I don't have one item of clothing I can wear when it gets cold that fits now. I guess that just comes with the territory! P.S. I love that someone mentioned shapewear earlier! I wouldn't go a day without wearing mine!

    Uggg,buffet!

Man, I hate when the folks you're dining with choose to go to a buffet! It's impossible for a sleever to get their money's worth and at least at a regular restaurant, I'm likely to have leftovers to last for a few more meals! It's so frustrating to have to go to a buffet!

    Gall Bladder Attack!

I had the same exact kind of attack prior to my weight loss surgery. Similar attacks kept occurring for me for weeks while I was getting tests run (ultrasounds and a HIDA scan) and waiting for the doctor to decide to remove it. They never were as severe as the one that sent me to the ER, but they definitely didn't go away. Granted, this was all about 5 years before I was sleeved. I wish I could be more help because I know how painful this is. Tell them to take the dang thing because life is just fine without it!

    Surgery Before Or After Holidays

Well, my mom had her surgery December 19th last year and I had mine on the 29th. I think we both agreed the 29th was the easier option because of the holidays... I sure didn't have a great New Year's Eve, but my 2012 has been FANTASTIC!

    A Couple Of Questions....

You'll definitely see your intake increase the further you get along post surgery. I'll be 10 months since my sleeve next week, and I can definitely eat more than I could in the beginning. I'm not sure on exact numbers or ounces, but I can just tell my body can handle more (still nothing compared to pre-sleeve or a non-sleeved person, but more.) I, in some ways, welcome the ability to eat a little more because I feel like I'm able to get more vitamins, minerals, and all around nutrition from food and that just makes me feel a little more secure. Or maybe I'm just crazy. Either way. Good luck!

    Plateau- What's Your Longest?

Just coming off a TWO MONTH plateau this week! Or maybe I just got a tape worm? Jk! Either way, it's about dang time! Hang in there!

  9. Congratulations!! Which doctor did you end up using?

  10. I really like the Matrix 2.0 Protein Shakes from Vitamin Shoppe. They are 110 calories and 23 g of protein. The chocolate and strawberry are really good, but I'm not much of a fan of the cookies and cream. I didn't start my protein shakes until about 4 1/2 months into my surgery, but I can definitely tell the difference they make! I'll definitely have to try out these Premier Protein shakes from Sams though too!
  11. I'm in a weird place with my bras too! I keep losing inches "around" but not losing in the cup... So the number keeps going down and the cup size up! I guess it's better than my mom who is losing them altogether but it is making it really tough to purchase bras!!

    Hair Loss Solution

Well, I have to agree with CCWriter. When I hit that 4 month mark, my hair started falling out like crazy and the weight loss started fluctuating, but as petal said, it's probably the growth pattern of the hair... I spent way too much time at Vitamin Shoppe and ended up settling on taking Biotin, Silica, and using Biotene Shampoo by Mill Creek that I got there also. I also up-ed my protein intake (I knew I wasn't getting enough anyway) as a suggestion from one of the workers because he said inadequate protein can cause hair loss too. I'm trying to make it stop and regrow some hair here, folks!!
  13. One week, one day, one pound at a time...

Pardon my stupidity, but what is a PPI?? What is it used for?

    Hair Loss Solution

I am right there with you all! I'm so glad I saw this thread because I have been in an absolute panic for days. I'm at 4 months post surgery and my hair is falling out in clumps too! I asked my doctor last week about it, and like everything else he acted as though it was no big deal and I was crazy. Typical for him... I have been scared to brush it or blow dry or anything. Luckily I had a lot of hair to begin with, but I can definitely tell a difference now. I started taking a hair and nail vitamin from the Vitamin Shoppe awhile back, but I have noticed no difference. Now what can I do!? I'm 70 lbs lighter and am starting to be happy with my body, but now I'm losing my hair. I can't win for losing.
  16. I'm afraid you won't get Mootopia in NYC either... It's a Texas grocery store chain only kind of thing. It's only sold at HEB and HEBs are only in Texas. Too bad others don't have anything similar because it is such great, high protein, low fat milk!

Im My Own Worst Enemy...just Need A Little Kick In The Arse.

It's me, her daughter! Haha! Her starting weight was 296 and mine was 297. I've been battling to get to 70 lbs lost, and I mean battling. I've finally made it! I definitely fear I've stretched my sleeve too... My mom and I had different doctors (mine was a quack!) but my doctor definitely made my sleeve smaller than hers because she's been able to handle more food than I could from the get go, but I can tell that I can definitely eat more. I notice that my weight fluctuates a lot, I'll get down 3 lbs, weigh again and I've gained all 3 back and have to work them off all over again. It's frustrating, but I really couldn't be happier. She's doing a great job and so are you! I think stress is going to have an impact on you, sleeved or not, and with her being a teacher, I'm convinced it will come off easier during the summer. I think when any of us get discouraged, we need to step back and look at the big picture. We've lost 60-70 lbs in FOUR MONTHS! That's incredible! Think about how much healthier we already are, stalled or not! Now, if I could just get my hair to stop falling out.........
  18. Okay, I have to ask this... I'm 4 months post surgery, 70 lbs down, and I haven't had a single protein shake since those miserable pre-surgery liquid diet days. Are these essential? Why are they so highly regarded? Is this something I'm totally missing out on? Please excuse my stupidity here!

    Alcohol

My surgeon just told me to be careful of the carbonation in beer and he was right. A can or bottle of beer is almost miserable to drink! Besides that, I've had zero issues with alcohol and it hasn't affected my weight loss any, so that's good too.
  20. I'm 4 months post-op and my hair is thinning too! I'm constantly worried about it and dread washing it because I know it's going to scare me even more. I even googled women hair loss earlier this week and it specifically listed drastic weight loss as a cause. I purchased some hair and nail vitamins at the Vitamin Shoppe to add to my daily regimen, and I'm really hoping I see improvement soon! I'm worried about it!
