In a nut shell: untill I was 13 or so, my schitzophrenic mother controlled every, I mean every bite I put in my mouth.
After she cut me loose on food, I got chubby. I fled the mad house the day after I graduated high school. And shortly became addicted to meth. After six years of that madness, I quit cold turkey. In the next year I went from a pathetic 123 pounds to a pathetic 210 or so. Over the next twenty plus years I lost and gained myself up to 322.... I can't believe I'm putting that in writing. Lost 86 pounds three years ago. Gained a few back and BAM I'm now a two year diabetic.
Type 2 insulin dependent. Drs wanted me to have the surgery a few years ago. A roux-en-y actually. I refused untill last September . Started research, found the vsg is a better choice for me , and now here we are . Surgery is in about a month. I'll continue with my therapist to let go of old wounds and keep moving forward.
Looking forward to being healthy. Or at least feeling a whole lot better. I'm married to a great man for twenty nine years now. We have two grown, amazing, beautiful daughters, two son in laws we love dearly, and two grandchildren who are beyond belief. So, I have so much to look forward to as my health improves and I can hardly wait. Of course, before long I'll be a bag of nerves as the surgery day approaches. Then, it will be behind me! I can hardly wait!
