  1. Happy 32nd Birthday Soylabean!

  2. I'm driving across country next week for a week long vacation. Starting to lose weight again, but I'm worrried that since I won't be cooking my own meals that I'll over do it in the calorie department. I'm planning on packing a cooler with healthy snacks and water, but once I'm there...we'll be eating out every day. Any suggestions?
  3. Great ideas. I was thinking about cooking eggs for the week, too. I would like to add more fruit and salad, but they make weird noises all the way down, which is embarrassing at my job where I talk to people all day. Any suggestions?
  4. After spending the last few weeks documenting all my food/calories, I've realized that I'm taking in more than I thought. I start off great with a protein shake and a mid-morning greek yogurt or oatmeal and a light lunch. It's typically the small afternoon meal and dinner that do me in. Those are usually time when I'm eating with others. I think I'm overeating when I see how much everyone else is eating. What kind of daily meal plan would you recommend? I'm open to a variety of foods. Please help me figure out a fulfilling 1200 calorie day:)

    Beyond Discouraged

I had a friend that had gastric bypass a week after I had lapband surgery. She has list twice the amount that I have lost, but shw also had more problems with foods and sickness than I ever had. I chose the lapband because the weight would drop slower...i chose it because I wanted time to be able to tone my body and reduce the need for cosmetic surgery. Sometimes, I get jealous of my friend because of her extreme weight loss success, but I try to remind myself of all the reasons why I chose my weight loss path. other strategies and surgeries might work better or worse for others, but you have to embrace your journey. Talk to your doctor and seek guidance. If they don't help, find another doctor. Also, it sounds to me like you don't have the support that you want or need. Maybe you can find someone that has had the surgery that lives close to you...a true weight loss buddy that has the same goals as you. Good luck! Don't give up...Give it all you've got.
  6. I'm tracking calories on Myfitnesspal, and preparing my own meals, and I'm reducing the calories that I drink like coffee. I'm determined to get past this.
  7. So, I've been between 248 and 238 for the last year. Even with fills and extra exercise I can't seem to get past 235. Which is a painful reminder of my ridiculous struggle with weight loss in high school...couldn't get past 235 then either. Right now I'm at 245. Trying to stay optimistic, since I've already lost over 80lbs, but I'm still looking in the mirror after my run and can't help but cry. I'm so frustrated. I'm only half way to my goal, and it feels like I've been losing the same 10lbs. over and over again. Any suggestions?

  9. So, I'm at 13cc in my 15cc band, and I'm only half way to my realistic weight-loss goal. I seem to have plateaued, hit a road block, etc. I'm fighting depression and trying to stay motivated to exercise and eat right, but it's been months since I've seen any weight loss. In fact, I've recently put on a couple of pounds. Any advice for getting past this wall of fat?

    Unsure

There are plenty of other ways to add protein. We love tofu, mushrooms, greek yogurt and eggs in our house. You can also purchase flavorless protein powder to add to foods like mashed potatoes, oatmeal, spaghetti sauce, yogurt, etc. I also asked my doctor during a fill if I could talk to his nutrionists on staff for a few minutes when I was having difficulty understanding portion sizes. Don't stress too much. Try different things. You'll find out what works for you.
