  1. i try to make sure i have breakfast. if i find at the end of the day i didn't get enough protein, i'll have a protein shake then. it also tricks my food-addicted-brain into thinking it's having a milkshake LOL
  2. my preop diet was 2 weeks of atkins - you can have good ol texas fried and bbq etc on that b/c it's all meat anyway!! haha!! i agree with just having a smaller portion of it. you want to lose the required 10lbs more than having a "last meal". myself, i fought very hard against the "last meal" concept. i had a sandwich before going on atkins b/c i love sandwiches and knew that bread is virtually impossible post-band. other than that - just remember the band forces smaller portions and new ways of eating. there are somethings that won't agree with you (steak, bread, Pasta, rice, carbonated drinks), but overall you can have the kinds of foods you want, as long as you know if you don't eat healthier, you won't actually lose any weight. i met one lady that can't have milk - dairy products are fine, but just milk makes her sick after surgery where it didn't before. everyone is a little different. as for drinking, i've heard it's different for everyone. i'm one of those 2 refills before the meal hits the table at restaurants kind of people. very hard habit to break!! i've found that teeny tiny sips while eating, if needed to rinse my mouth, don't bother me. but if i drink heavily or very soon after my meal, it almost feels like the liquid gets stuck. /shrug i'm training myself not to do it. after fills, you'll want to drink a little slower, but i drink at normal speed. i don't recommend chugging, that could hurt. and if you gulp, you could swallow air, and that is uncomfortable. hope that helps!

1St Fill Not So Good Plus A Question

My first fill was a week ago. No numbing. The nurse couldn't find my port, so we went to xray and the xray tech walked her through finding the right spot. She did have to stick me twice. Inside didn't hurt, just the tightness of the skin where she put the needle in as she moved it around to find the exact location of the port.

  10. I haven't burped at all post op. Lots of gass pressure the first week. On day 4 post op, I finally passed gas. I was so excited and the pressure relief felt so great, I texted my husband at work!! Haha!! Hope you feel better!

    Sleeping???

I was on my back for a few days then used a pillow to support my belly on my side after that. Now I wake up on my belly with no discomfort unless I try to get up too fast. - 2wks postop
  12. Itchy!!! That was terrible!! I used some A&D cream and a healing repair cream I got from my esthetician.

    Personal Question

Lucky!! I'm 15days post op. About the time I was ready to have sex again (about day 5/6), I got a yeast infection. And before it even 100% healed, my period started. Longest two weeks ever!!!
  17. Tomato soup with "a dollup of daisy" and a sprinkle of shredded cheese - my favorite liquid meal!!

    Hiccups Anyone Else?!?

No burps or hiccups at all post-op. I get pressure build up at the top of my stomache that feels like a burp or hiccup and then nothing happens. It's a little disappointing. I think it'd be weird not to ever have either again!
  19. I haven't paid attention to protein at all!! But I'm only on week 2, still 1 more week of mushies to go. The most I do is, if I think "hmm I haven't had any protein", then I have a protein shake. Looking forward to solids for more options!

    Port Area Post Surgery

I held mine for about a week. Even just standing. Putting slight pressure. Just made me feel better. I started to think others might think I was preggers! Haha
  21. 6/22 here. The most important thing post op is sticking to the post-op diet. It's not a lesson or being mean - it's to heal your insides. If you eat solid too soon, it could bump the band and make it scar in an incorrect position and then never work correctly. Whatever liquids/mushies you're allowed to have, stick to that. Small portions every hour if you need that much. But the healing is sooo IMPORTANT. Worry about restriction and hunger pains later. If you don't heal properly, it will all be for nothing. Sorry you're having such a hard time =(

    I Walked Away

    Good for you!!
  23. I tried to do too much my first 3 days bc I felt okay, just slight discomfort and overall weakness - so day 4 and 5 were worst for me. By day 7, I felt sooo much better. The shoulder pain lasted a few days beyond that. Sorry you're feeling bad. But it will pass.

    Pudding

It depends on your surgeon and clinic. I was on full liquids the first day. Anything that would go through a straw. Tomato soup was my favorite "meal" the first week. But if my surgeon required clear liquids, I might have gone crazy. Get as much info out of your doctor as possible. This forum is amazing, but every doctor is different.

    Pressure In Swimming Pools

Could be b/c of the temperature. I've only been banded 2wks but I've heard cold foods/drinks could make it tight. That'd be my only thought.
