  1. I'm appx 90days post op and just found out I'm pregnant! Haven't seen my OB yet. I dont know if it's chang in fertility and hormones. We've been unprotected for over 2 years. My guess is that the loss of weight removed pressure from my falopian tubes and opened up th baby factory. My OB recommended against the band. So it'll be interesting to see her in 2 weeks...

  3. My husband LOVES my band! I agree it depends on what your marriage and relationship is like now. My biggest advice - If you get to a point where you're struggling, don't take his encouragement as nagging. He's just trying to help. "Remember to wait a minute between bites" is a very sweet thing for him to say!! Don't snap at him for it! LOL

    Mermaid Lift

You were only banded a week ago... I would wait to see what kind of natural toning you can do w/o surgery to see if you really need it. I've lost 43# and while I feel a little loose around the middle, every time I actually work on my abs it feels tighter. Hydrate and tone. That's my suggestion.

    Dying Of Thirst

I'm 2months postop, and I'm still always thirsty. I drink more water now than ever before in my life. Immediately postop, you're swollen and will feel full faster and longer than a few weeks from now. Drink slowly so you don't swallow air - that hurts! And make sure you get your protein in w/ your liquid diet and plenty of water.
  8. I had the same problem!! I thought I was doing great, but the doc said no. Eat more protein - and more calories in general!! I gained 2lbs =( Getting my second fill tomorrow. I'm so freakin hungry all the time - getting told to eat more was a total head game. Not happy! As for 33lbs since mid-April - GREAT JOB!!! I'm at 32 since 4/17. Slow and steady wins the race!!

    Muffin Tins

My mom saw this idea on Pinterest so I did some research - so cool! Muffin tins create great portion sizes for Bandsters!!! You can get your Protein and veggies into a more creative "package". One of my most difficult areas is getting the right foods in the right portions. I can do one or the other, both is complicated with my schedule. Just wanted to share =) Here's my Pinterest page with ideas that I've found... Pasta and/or bread. I'm using them more as a starting point to get ideas and create my own. And yes, I did pin Desserts too.
  10. Negativity prior to surgery is extremely difficult and I'm so sorry you're going through that. Everyone here has posted great things, all sound advice. My biggest thing to add is to maybe tell them that you're open about it b/c you're not ashamed, it's not a big secret, but just b/c you're open doesn't mean you want to talk about it all the time. I was pretty secretive up until 2 days before surgery. Now, most people know but respect my wishes about not wanting to talk about it all the time. I'll answer questions, just not deep discussion. One good thing is this will prepare you for post-op. Honestly, it's going to get worse. They will turn into food-nazis - "isn't that too much?" "are you sure you can have that?" "omg! why are you having 2 bites of dessert?!?" And from other overweight people, it will be worse. Praying it gets better. Be blessed.

    Muffin Tins

Pintrest is weird. I don't use it much myself. I really only know how to add outside things to it. The way I understand it is once it's the larger image, if you click it again, it should open the link to wherever the image originated from... Hope that helps =)

My Surgery Date Is Aug 16Th!

Congrats!! My biggest advice - stick to your pre and post-op diets. They are sooo important. Once I got past atkins, liquids, and mushies - finding the right portion size and choosing healthier food is somewhat difficult b/c I just wanted to eat something, anything!! Until you reach the green zone, it is mind over matter. You will feel full faster, but still be hungry more often than 3meals-a-day.
  13. I've only been banded a month, w/ one fill 2 weeks ago. I'm still baffled and don't want it to happen again - but I feel perfectly fine. Going to talk to the doc at my appointment on Wednesday...
  14. Just like the title of the post says... I drank about a half liter of Water, not too fast (or so I thought), careful not to swallow any air, no burps, no PB, nothing slid back up at all. MAJOR fullness and discomfort, more pain than I'm comfortable brushing off. Ended up in the ER. Pain subsided practically at check in. ER doc said Xrays and bloodwork looked fine, check with surgeon in the morning. I'm glad I'm ok. But annoyed that I ended up in the ER!! ALSO... wth? I drink water like that all the time (post-band)! Why now? What was different? How can I prevent it from happening again? I mean, I still feel dehydrated, but I'm afraid to drink anything!!
  15. One month post-op - dropped 2 pants-sizes!! =) My 3x tops still fit nicely w/o being baggy but I hung all my 2x back in the closet to be ready!!
  16. Other than being exhausted, I felt great just 2 days post-op. Still had 6 days off of work - but I didn't stop my life and sit on the couch the whole time. Went to the store, cleaned house, etc. I'd say 100% about 2weeks. But I'd found different ways to move around. Like instead of bending over or even regular squatting to get something off the floor, I would plie - no, not a ballerina, just found it the easiest way to get lower without any discomfort.
  17. I agree, the day after. I went home the same day and slept most of it - but when I was awake, I was sure glad not to be alone. Ultimately, your husband will do whichever you choose - but ask him which HE would prefer. My husband was a nervous wreck the whole 30min I was actually in surgery. Our pastor came to the hospital and sat with him so he wasn't alone - but I know it would have been worse if he'd had to be at work while I was under anesthesia...

As further motivation for myself, I thought I'd put together a collage of "Before". I only have one pic from the last 6 months. When I went looking for more, I realized just how long I've been morbidly obese and got a little carried away w/ the collage idea. And for an additional boost added a couple of my senior photos. Age 16 size 16 and I felt the size of a walrus. Wish I could go back and tell her how amazingly thin she was!! Looking forward to being that size and maybe even thinner again =)

    My Old Motto

    From the album: TexasDy

  20. My first problem was that I couldn't lay down at all. The first 2-3 nights, I was propped up on about 8 pillows. The gas pressure and shoulder pain was horrific. Once I could lay down, I took it easy and kept a pillow on one side and hubby on the other. I was probably about a week out when I woke up on my stomach for the first time. I fell asleep that way at about a week and a half.

    Slippery Slope?

Gratz on the amazing weightloss! My suggestion, other than what everyone else has said, just listen to your body. If you're feeling weak, add more calories. And they don't have to be not-so-good calories like Chinese. You could have a chicken breast or some fish. Protein is very important. My nutritionist suggested 1200cal diet for me, and I'm doing good if I get 900cal in a day. Good luck!

    Scary Accident

Definitely scarey!! But very glad you are ok! I didn't experience any fainting. Some light-headedness and dehydration, but never to the point of fainting. Keep us posted after you see the surgeon!!
