    Marchies in June

HI Folks, Reading the other posts, I feel like I have not done as well as I should have? I have only lost 24 pounds since March 20th but I have not had a fill and I did quit smoking on May 5th. I get my 1st fill on Tuesday so wish me luck. I need to count calories because I think I am eating too many calories a day. I need to focus!!! NOW...about this ticker thingy.....do I have to copy and paste it every time I post? Thanks for the support of this forum!!!

    MaRcHiEs IN MaY

Hi Folks, I Was Banded 3/20 And Have Only Lost 24 Pounds. However, I Quit Smoking On May 5th And Have Not Had A Fill. I Am Scheduled To Get A Fill On June 5th So I Am Praying I Can Get Some Restriction As I Am Hungry. I Am Not Being A Great Calorie Counter But Am Not Eating Near What I Used To Eat. I Started At 258 And Now Weight 234. However, I Do Feel My Clothes Have Gotten Looser. I Am Down Nearly 2 Sizes. So I Feel Good About A Lot Of Things But Kinda Anxious About The Hunger.

    Scared to death!

HI, don't worry. I was banded on March 20th and quit smoking May 5th. I am scheduled a little later than usual for my first fill on June 5th. Weight loss has been a little slow at 24 lbs but I feel great and believe I will be less hungry when I get my fill.

    Anyone from Georgia ??

Hi Folks, Well, I am stuck at the 24 pounds lost after 9 weeks post op. However, I must say I am not counting calories. I stopped smoking and was prepared to put on a few pounds, so I am not gonna beat myself up for NOT loosing any weight in the past 3 weeks. I decided to pay a healthy one time fee to a local doctor so I can get my fills locally, since I am a Mexican Bandster. Maybe I will be less hungrier after June 5th. Good luck to everyone else!!!!!

Always check with your doctor if you have concerns....however, my port went through several changes in the first couple of weeks. Good luck!!

Mexico surgery, maybe? Aftercare/fills E. TN?

HI, I researched and choose a doctor 35 minutes from me but have to pay a 2000 up front fee. I tried the USA fill center deal and my appt was cancelled after I had driven 2.5 hours to reach the place. However, some folks do have success with the USA fill center.

    Mexican Bandsters- Need Advice

I am sorry your friend is so narrow minded....however, this happens to many bandsters that choose Mexico. I researched Dr. Kuri in Tjuana two years before I made my decision. At 52 years old, and with a life long battle with weight, I explained to family and friends, I was killing myself slowly and I felt strongly that my surgery had equal risks in the US as it had in Mexico. I did have one of my best friends go with me, and I paid all her expenses. I came through surgery without any hitches. Would do it again Tomorrow. Also, keep in mind, your friend is used to you being obese. She may be worried as to how you will change when you become slender?? Maybe, control issues?? But that is pretty drastic to have someone say, you probably won't be coming back!!!!!! GOOD LUCK....you can research Dr Rodriquez on this forum and print some of his Kudo's???

Drove 2.5 Hours and FillUSA called to cancel

HI Folks, Well....I now have an official lap band doctor that is 30 minutes from my home. Yes...there is a $2000 up front charge for him to accept me as a Mexican patient, but I am willing to pay for peace of mind. I am part of an ongoing weight management group and there will be additional expenses when I have fluro's, etc. He does the adjustments himself, not a nurse, and I can contact him 24/7. It beats chasing down a nurse and still not having a local support team. So, I am happy with my decision. He can be reached at 423-495-2244 - or I should say his office staff. He sees patients on Tuesdays at this hospital and has a medical practice locally. My first adjustment is scheduled for June 5th.

    My port is bulging out!

I am 9 weeks post op and my port is very prominent. It is more even with the skin but I can touch it and feel it. It is my buddy!!! No pain.

    I need reassurance, please!!

My Mexico experience was excellent. No regrets!!!! Taxi drivers are a little crazy but other than that, the trip was awesome!!!!

    Smoker's please help

My doctor said nothing about smoking but shook his head when he saw me smoking the next day after surgery. I needed to quit because I was a heavy smoker. And yes, I am not as short winded as I was for sure. I am using nicorette gum and my local doctor says he has no problem with that.

Will I ever eat pasta again?

I can not eat pasta or rice no matter how many times I chew or how little a bit I take. It just sticks and sticks and sticks more!!!! I will live without it.:clap2: :clap2:

5 days post-op and in a car wreck!

I drove 3 days after surgery with minor discomfort. However, I did not have a wreck. I would call your doctor and inform him of the accident even if you do not feel any different. He might tell you what to look for if there was damage done. Good luck!!!

Drove 2.5 Hours and FillUSA called to cancel

HI Folks, Well...I am trying to find a local doctor to handle my fills. I has such problems with food getting stuck, I am worried about being far away from my doctor. I am sure I will have to pay a healthy one time fee for the doctor to take me as a patient, but it will cover 4 fills and it is only 35 minutes from Dalton. I am anxious to get a fluor to see if my band has moved. I really am a little concerned that I may have coughed my band loose or a hiatal hernia has returned. Feel great other than the fear of eating solid food and it sticking.
  21. HI Folks, Nearly 7 weeks post op - feeling great - lost 25 pounds and inches galore. Saturday I went to a Stop Smoking seminar and have been smoke free 43 hours. Naturally, as a smoker, the key is to not pick up that first cigarette, just like not picking up that first drink. I quit smoking in 2001 for a couple of years and started a new job, and within 4 months, I just had to have a cigarette. I am 14 plus years sober, and I have never picked up a drink since, but cigarettes are like chocolate, and very hard to give up forever. So, for today, I won't smoke, won't drink and will make good food choices. I am loosing slower than some, and have not had a fill. I am going to see how the next two weeks go and then schedule a fill if I am not losing any. Have a great day!!!!

    Mexico Banders?

They met me at San Diego Airport and transported me into Mexico. No passport needed until 2008. Great experience....great hotel....would do it again in a heart beat. I have yet to get fill...not sure I need one yet??

    Bummed out and sad

45 pounds may sound like a lot, but if you think of it as one pound at a time, you can do it!!!! Good luck!!

Anyone Quit Smoking after Lap Band?

HI Folks, So far so good on not smoking....did put 3 pounds on but have lost 2 of them and getting refocused. I am scheduled to see a fill doctor on Tuesday. Being a Mexican bandster is costly to get a local doctor to accept you as a patient. 2000 up front...but it beats chasing down the USA fill center people. I am still getting food stuck and it kinda scares me. I PB at least every other day. Never sure what kind of food I can Eat. But, I am happy with my band and I think of it as a "BUDDY"!!! :clap2:
