JessiG1983 got a reaction from Angelizz10 in Boyfriend Totally Against Me Getting Lap Band
My husband was not 100% psyched about the prospect of me having surgery. It was dangerous, did I really need it, etc... Well he went to a seminar with me and found out the real facts from a doctor. He realized I really did know what I was talking about and it may really be a good idea for me. He became my biggest cheerleader and one of the main reasons I was able to have the success I have had. He has been there every step of the way and has totally changed his habits as well. The thing is he is either going to have to shape up or ship out. Help him get educated about the process and why you want to have the surgery. If he still cannot support you then that is his problem, not yours. You are doing this for you and anyone who doesn't like it can kiss off!! Good luck!!

JessiG1983 got a reaction from Maddysgram in You Had Your Surgery And ..
I am 9.5 months post surgical and down nearly 90 lbs. I actually like pictures now (not all, we still have bad days and bad angles lol) I can walk and hike again without feeling like I'm dying, in fact when I walk my dogs they get tired long before I do. I can get up and down from the floor quite easily. I love seeing my collar bones!! I love wearing normal clothes not being in the plus sized section. I love putting on some of my old clothes that used to be tight and drowning in them...in fact my hubby (who has really gone every step of the way with me and has lost 80lbs in the process) and I recently put put on an old pair of my "work out" pants...we both fit in a leg of those pants, granted they were tighter with both of us in them than they were when I wore them but it was still amazing to see)

"oh hell what have I done?"
*laughs*
I woke up in considerable pain, feeling like I'd been hit by a truck, and immediately started to question my decision.
...needless to say, I got over that fast. I love my band

JessiG1983 reacted to Theboysmom in 1St Personal Goal Achieved!
Hello everyone!
Wanted to share my exciting news!
I reached my 1st personal goal today! I always weigh in on Friday mornings however today I was going for a fill number 7 and wanted to take note on how close my scale was to the doctors.
When I decided to have lapband, banned on Nov 21, 2012 weighing 260 I set my goal to weigh 200 pounds however that quickly changed and didnt want to be in the 200s. I wanted to be 199. I have been working my tail off to reach that point and this morning I stepped on the scale looked down and it read 198.0! I said WHAT! Stepped off and right back on again! And sure enough there it was 198.0...I stood there on the scale and cried tears of happiness. I havent weighed anywhere close to 198 since my early early teens.
62 lbs GONE!
If YOU believe in YOU anything is possible!

Model, is it possible to take a picture of this to see? I mean it would not be an invasion of privacy as your face would not be expossed. I think a lot of people replying to this thread are concerned and curious.....thanks and good luck.

This is going to be snarky so look away now if easily offended, but does anyone else read this thread with "I'm a model, you know what I mean and I do my little turn on the catwalk, on the catwalk, yeah, on the catwalk, I shake my little tush on the catwalk"going through their head or is it really just me?

short and sweet
sure the bypass will help you lose weight (faster sometimes)
and so can the band.
news flash---anyone with any WLS can gain their weight back if they start overeating the wrong foods again.
(its up to the person with the band to do the hard work, you know eat right, eat the 1 cup required food and excercise).
some people dont have manners.
i hear that alot too. but you know what, i made the decision to make myself well.
haters gonna hate regardless.
seems to me, people who dont know sh** about the band
or understand it have the most neg nellies comments.
do this for you and be successful
you already are in my book

JessiG1983 reacted to bellaloco in Didn't Realize How Bad It Was
I went to my doctor yesterday for a band adjustment. My last fill was in Feburary, and I lost about 10 pounds after, but I have since gained most of it back. I had been experiencing lots of acid reflux, vomiting incidents, food getting stuck, etc in the last few weeks. All the symptoms of a too-tight band. My doctor took out about .5 cc and I felt immediate relief! I guess I just didn't realize how bad it had been, or maybe I was trying to justify that I was ok...I don't know? I feel back on track now and ready to take on the world!!
Moral of the story...too-tight band, definitely NOT a good thing!

JessiG1983 reacted to BigDennis in Am I A Liar?
SO, if I ask a contractor HOW he built a house and he replied, "With a lot of hard work and effort on my part", this would be a lie? I tend to think not! The contractor used many tools and resources to reach his goals and I would not expect him to explain to me the importance of using a hammer, versus using a nail gun, to accomplish those goals. At the end of the day, you are totally responsible for your weight loss and the band was simply a tool. Tell 'em what you want them to know and simply be proud of your accompishments, because I know we are!

JessiG1983 reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in Am I A Liar?
It's true it's a lie by omission, however, is it anyone's business to begin with?
You don't have to answer to anyone, not about what you eat or what surgeries you've had. It's no one's business unless you choose to make it their business, so don't let anyone guilt you into revealing personal information you're not ready to reveal.
Band or not, it's YOU that has to do the work. It's YOU that makes the healthy food choices. The credit is yours, not the band. Be proud of your accomplishment!

I love my Leaf! So far, it is amazing. I really have to be careful about my miles and make sure I don't get myself stuck somewhere. My fave choice for the plate was LUVHERTZ, but it was already taken. =( ...so, I went with SPK4TRS. It's from the Lorax and is all about saving the planet. LOL. It's perfect. Very excited.
Thanks all for your input!

JessiG1983 reacted to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! in Another Success Story!
Today I had to go see my primary care doctor. I hadn't seen him since January and his immediate response upon seeing me was 'holy cow you lost a ton of weight'.
But...here's the cool part: I met another Lap Band success today!
The nurse at my doctor's office had Lap Band surgery just 2 weeks before I did, so the end of December 2011. Same surgeon, even the same nutritionist I used.
She has lost 113 pounds!
I have to tell you I wish I had her pic because she looks freak'n amazing. She is so cute and petite, I'm guessing maybe a size 8 at the very most. Looking at her, I'd have never guessed she was once obese.
Like me, she absolutely loves her band. We talked for about 20 minutes about our experiences with food, how we eat now, and the changes we've made. She also agreed that seeing her nutrtitionist played a huge role in her success as well.
So anyway, I had to share her story with everyone. It was just cool for me to meet such a huge success with the Lap Band in person.

JessiG1983 reacted to BeeBlueHeron in Imagine Carrying 10 Bowling Balls, All The Time.....
I'm so happy and grateful that one week from today I will start a journey to health.....
I went bowling recently with my kids, and I use the wimpy 8-pound balls . Still, it was amazing to think that no matter what I am doing, no matter where I am, I am carrying around approximately 10 of those puppies in unnecessary weight!
Although I certainly want to LOOK better, it's not just about that. I want to get rid of the sleep apnea and the snoring, that feeling of constriction in my throat and around my heart and lungs. The weird back and hip pains, the stiffness in my knees and shoulders.
I want to be healthy!
Here's to the future!!!
