Surgical Incisions?
JessiG1983 replied to cek31076's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 4 small ones and one large (~2 inches). Plus I have 4 other scars on my abdomen from having my gallbladder removed the year before. -
I have to agree, this is serious the best band site out there. Everyone is welcoming, friendly and truthful without being mean! I am thrilled I found this site!!
-
Congrats, Jennifer!!! You have achieved incredible success!! I am sooo happy for you!!

My insurance covers my fills. I only have to pay my $35 copay. I have had no issues there...sorry you're going through this!!

Bigenuff, this made me chuckle because I feel the same way!!! I went from D's to very full B's!! I figure after I lose all the weight I want to (and when I'm done having kids) I'll just buy a nice, shiny, perky new set!! LOL

What Am I Doing Wrong? Please Help!
JessiG1983 replied to Brandi18's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree, you cannot live like that and need a minor unfill. I know you are probably afraid of setting yourself back but it is very dangerous to be too full. -
Nope...I cheated once during pre-op and had a slice of pizza!! I felt nervous but it turned out fine!!! At least it was only once!! GL with surgery!

Is There A Lot Of Complications After Surgery??
JessiG1983 replied to heather6266's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all the previous posters...you definitely have to be in the right frame of mind prior to surgery. You have to be ready to change your entire life and you need to be honest with yourself. Banding has been one of the best things I have ever done BUT I considered getting it for years, himmed and hawed about it, made appointments then backed out because I wasn't mentally there yet. I'm glad I waited to a degree because I was absolutely ready, mentally and physically. I knew people who had the surgery and failed for various reasons but I knew I was different and I would be damned if I was going to have surgery and fail...and I haven't. I have had a few episodes of vomiting/regurgitating BUT I could link it always to either what I ate, how I ate or reactive swelling after a fill. GL with whatever you decide but don't let other people make up your mind for you, do the research and make whatever decision is best for you. Best of luck!! -
My SIL graduated high school today during which I noticed a NSV. I wore heels for several hours and my feet didn't hurt (AMAZING!! LOL) And we walked a lot...I couldn't believe it!! Prior to surgery I wouldn't have made it 15 minutes without pain!!

Thanks, everyone!! It's a small thing but it definitely made my day!!

Sorry, DH means "darling husband"

I have three dogs and a cat and had no issues with them being here what so ever. My youngest dog was only 1 yr old at the time. My DH works swing shift so I had to take care of them pretty much by myself and did fine. Dogs were very intuitive and could tell I was "sick" so they were very gentle.

My underwear size going down has been one of the most exciting parts!! lol...as for rings, my fingers are really small so I thought I couldn't possibly lose any weight there. Well my size 5 1/2 wedding ring now falls off of my ring finger and fits on my middle finger!

Any Ladies Out There With Pcos? Banded Or In The Process?
JessiG1983 replied to sunshine412's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I would say I'm kinda of a combo of the two but less carbs than South Beach allows. A typical day for me: Breakfast: Protein shake (Premier protein 30g protein, 5 carbs) Small snack a few hrs later: one ounce of nuts (I eat the planter's heart health) Lunch: Mixed greens salad (with cucumber, tomato, green peppers) with drained tuna fish, small amount of dressing or leftover dinner. Dinner: 3-4 oz of some lean protein, 1 cup of some steamed low starch veggie. Snack: Small orange or apple or sugar free jello or sugar free popsicle. Plus 8-10 servings of water (some of them with crystal light for flavor) Calorie wise I try to stay between 800-1000/day and carbs, I try to stay below 40/day. -
Any Ladies Out There With Pcos? Banded Or In The Process?
JessiG1983 replied to sunshine412's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I eat a very low carb diet, while keeping an eye on my calories and fat intake. For me it is all about watching the carbs!! I try to make sure that the only carbs I get are from natural sources (fruits and veggies) and really try to have little to no grains. That is what works for me...while that and exercise. With that being said, if I am DYING for something naughty then I have it, just a lot less of it that before. -
I know exactly what you mean!! Life revolving around food just becomes such a norm, you don't even notice until you change!! What a strange, amazing journey this is!!

Sorry you're going through this!! I don't have any suggestions just wanted to lend support!!!
