Normal, normal, normal! Just stay off carbs as much as you can and the scale will move again. Plateaus are completely normal - this won't be your last one and they WILL pass.

I started eating them about a month post-op and had no problems. Just start with a small amount and chew like crazy and you should be fine. I'm six months out now and there is literally nothing I can't eat. Even spicy stuff!

Anybody taken the Juice Plus+ chewables and can share an opinion? I took the capsules while I was pregnant with my daughter and swear I felt better on them.

Hi, friends. I had my sleeve done in June and I've lost almost 40 pounds - I'm about 15 pounds away from my goal weight. But the time since my surgery has been one of major change, not just because of my sleeve; I discovered my husband was having an affair and we are since in the middle of a divorce. Since his affair ended (aka she kicked him to the curb), he has made things very difficult; he has refused to get a lawyer or sign documents, begged me for another chance, threatened suicide, etc. My little girl is not taking the split well at all and I've been taking her to see a counselor as well. Did I mention that work isn't going very well either? I am not gaining weight, but the stress of everything has taken my focus off my sleeve. I'm still eating small portions for sure, but I'm not paying attention to WHAT I'm eating. And I haven't exercised in months. I realize that part of my lack of focus is that I'm really happy with my current weight. I'm a size 12 pant and I can shop in any store I want. People are raving about how I look and I've even been on a few dates. Still, I don't want to do this journey half-way. I want to make my goal weight, even if I'm only limping along right now. Can anyone offer some advice on how to get back on track? Or some cheerleading? Or a wake-up call?

Have you ever been to an AlAnon meeting? As the former wife of an alcoholic, may I highly recommend that you attend one ASAP?

2Nd Day Pre Op Cheater!
Minckle replied to 612belly's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember that sticking to your pre-op diet can lead to fewer incisions and faster healing time. If you can remember that right before you eat something off the diet, it might help! Headaches are usually a sign of caffeine withdrawal , btw. -
Cottage cheese, soft lunch meats, bananas, applesauce.....

Stall Or Starvation?
Minckle replied to justmeandmysleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first thought is that you're working out too much and may be pushing your body too much. An hour at a time is probably exhausting this early on - you need to recover. Try cutting down your workouts to 30 mins at a time and see if that doesn't help your weight loss and your fatigue. Also, keep in mind that 2 pounds a week is GREAT. You will have stalls where you lose ZERO pounds. Keep your chin up. -
Day 5 Post-Op Heartburn, Refluz And Indigestion.

Have you used any of the Gas-X quick dissolve strips or chewables? Those helped me a lot. -
Call your doctor - you don't have to be that miserable!

What Does This Surgery Do To Relationships?
Minckle posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's amazing to me how many stories I've read on here where the relationships with long-time boyfriends and husbands, etc. self destruct after this surgery. I've noticed this for a while and now I'M a victim, too. I'm a month out and I just learned that my husband has been having an affair with one of the admins at his work. He swears it never got physical, but the emails between them are toe-curling, so it was a very emotional affair at the least. Apparently, it started while I was in the hospital. He told me that it was my fault that he was drawn to her because he felt abandoned by how much I've been sick. Obviously, I had the sleeve to FIX the diabetes, apnea, joint issues, etc. that were keeping me feeling so badly. Which is why the timing of the affair is so heartbreaking for me. We are doing couples therapy, but I am incredibly hurt and I don't know how I will ever trust him again. I'd give up right now, but we have a beautiful daughter who is my #1 concern right now. I don't say all this for sympathy, but simply because I am really struck by the amount of stories like this I've seen on here. I guess this procedure is so life changing that it becomes a true crucible test for relationships. -

This video is 1:48 long. It pretty much stereotypes my opinion of most Christians. If you get through the whole video, let me know and I will mail you a cookie - er, I mean - some unjury chicken Soup.

Period Right After Surgery
Minckle replied to milkD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very common due to the blood thinners you got. -
I had it before, didn't have it at first, then got it with a VENGEANCE for a few weeks. Now I'm 6 weeks out and have none. Fingers crossed it's gone for good.

My husband told me I got the surgery because I was "too lazy to lose the weight normally". We're now in the middle of a divorce. You've got to do this for you - and your kids. You want to be around for them! If he comes around, great. If he doesn't, you still need to make the right decision for YOUR health.

Congratulations! I lovvvvvvvvvve Dr. Nick - hope you have as great of an experience as I have!

Pace yourself. 9 Days out is still new to the process! Just work on getting a little more protein and a little more fluids and walking a little more every day... and every day you'll feel a bit better - promise!

My PA told me it's not a "fever" until it hits 101. I'm no MD or RN, but our home thermometer says the same thing. I would expect a little elevation to be normal, considering but your body just went through, but agree with Lissa that it might be nice to get some reassurance from a professional.

Feeling Out Of Place While Shopping
Minckle replied to legal loser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I worked in a nice retail clothing chain throughout college and I can tell you that you would have to be wayyyyyy out of your size range for a salesperson to even blink about what section you are browsing in. People come in all different shapes and sizes so I never stopped being surprised whose butt fit into which size of pants! Even then, you could be shopping as a gift for someone else. Being able to fit a pinky toe into regular sizes is a huge accomplishment - keep your head held high. You belong there!! -
Before And After I Hope It Worked

Outstanding! I bet old acquaintances don't even recognize you anymore. What an inspiration!! -
Freeze a banana in slices, put it in the blender with a bit of skim milk. It will turn the banana into a soft-serve like consistency. My daughter loves it, too.

I Wonder What Celebrities Are Sleeved?!?
Minckle replied to SensationallySassyT's topic in Rants & Raves
Gastric bypass was so popular that Star Jones, Sharon Osborne, Al Roker, Carnie Wilson, Randy Jackson, Roseanne Barr all had it done and admitted it. I'm willing to bet that as the sleeve rises in popularity, we will see more celebrities. Some rumors I've heard of people who've had WLS but aren't admitting it are: Octavia Spencer, Jonah Hill, Jordin Sparks, Drew Carey, Khloe Kardashian, Kelly Osborne, John Goodman, Aretha Franklin. -
Today at lunch, without a thought in my head or a care in the world, I snarfled down the remainder of my daughter's McDonald's fries. I was watching her play and not thinking at all. When I reached for another fry and found the box empty, I literally bonked myself in the head in the middle of the restaurant! ARGH! I didn't slime (shocking!) but that was at 12:30 pm today and I am still feeling the discomfort 8 hours later. Had half a protein shake for dinner and will be back to liquids tomorrow to calm my poor little sleeve down. Just thought I'd share that complete DOH! moment with y'all for a bit of accountability. Old habits lie in wait for when we aren't paying attention!
