Be careful because overloading your sleeve at this point can cause a leak. Your surgeon has guidelines for a reason - don't hurt yourself!
-
It depends on your surgeon. Mine allowed cream of chicken or cream of mushroom diluted with milk and blended until all the lumps were gone Days 7 through 21.

Are you lifting anything or maybe just doing too much too soon? My PA said left side back pain is your body's way of telling you to slow down and rest more.

Protein Drinks And Heartburn?
Minckle replied to sleevemeup's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
That's one of the few that does NOT give me heartburn. It's different for everyone! -
MIRALAX! I can't stand the taste of Milk of Magnesia and it works really gently. Take it daily.

Andrew Lessman - Vitamin Help!
Minckle replied to Amyl219's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your ongoing vitamins after surgery should be chewable. I'm sure your current vitamins are lovely, and maybe you can break the capsules open and mix them with something, but I would highly recommend researching the chewable vitamins that are created specifically for Sleevers. -
According to my materials: Left side pain, nausea, fever, vomiting are the symptoms. Causes are: overloading the sleeve too soon or can happen at time of surgery but are concealed by inflammation.

Don't be surprised if you feel it tomorrow. I overdid it with my lifting my daughter and the next day my left side was extremely sore, even around to the back. It's not just your incisions - it's the muscles in your abdomen as well. Sometimes as a Mommy it just can't be helped!

My Boyfriend Left Me
Minckle replied to missmachine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So....what we should have done is told her that he was probably right to leave her and that he was justified in doing so. I'm sure she didn't reach out to this board for comfort or perspective. And she couldn't have possibly have predicted that the predominantly female group would be on her side. We shouldn't point out all the obviously bad things that he did and instead should make suggestions on how she can get this great guy back rather than focus on herself or her son right now. Yeahhhh. I get what you're saying but.... Uh uh. Not gonna happen. -
My Boyfriend Left Me
Minckle replied to missmachine's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OTR - here's what I think we are reacting to: 1. He left her three days after major surgery 2. He left her with bills she cannot pay without his help; he knows this. 3. Now he's refusing to communication with her in any way. 4. Her family was never a supporter of his because of all the bad stuff that has happened in the past.... Maybe he needed to remove himself from the situation. I totally get that. But after a six-year investment with this woman, can he not find a way to remove himself with a little bit more grace? Let's say the surgery made her a fire-breathing dragon from hell (doubtful, but hypothetically), does that make it okay for him to exit the scene like that? I think a lot of us are reading this and thinking "After six years, that's a hell of a way to make an exit, douchebag." -
Stocking Up Smaller Wardrobe?
Minckle replied to lizzybean3377@yahoo.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can find a support group in your area, they usually do free clothing exchanges. I wouldn't buy anything in advance - your body changes in unexpected ways! -
Suck It Up The Dr Says
Minckle replied to Looking Ahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are several bariatric surgeons that specialize in "fixing" other doctor's mess-ups. You might want to call around tomorrow and see if someone else will take you on. I'm also floored that you still have the drain - mine was out before I left the hospital, too. But, mostly, I can't believe his attitude about pain. My surgeon told me "don't be a hero - I don't want you to hurt" when he first saw me post-op and was worried I wasn't using my pain pump enough! Oh, and Texarkolina: Run. This isn't right or normal at all. Find another surgeon ASAP. -
You should be shooting for 40 grams of protein and 48 oz of fluid daily for the first week (per my doc). Which basically meant I could have hotglued a cup to my hand - I was always sipping on something!

Hi, y'all. I'm going to a 4th of July BBQ on Wednesday and told the hostess I would be glad to bring a side dish. Of course, I was thinking I could bring something I could eat on the Mushy Food / Week Three Stage since I doubt they're going to be grilling up Protein Shakes on the grill for me. Any suggestions for a side dish, other than mashed potatoes?

What Does It Mean When Dr Says "you Can Eat Soft Foods"?can Anyone Give Me Ideas Please :)
Minckle replied to Karen2012's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My surgeon's list is: pudding, yogurt, cooked cereals, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, toast, lunch meat, eggs, baked fish, ground turkey, applesauce, bananas, canned fish. -
Help Me Find A Protein Supplement That I Like!
Minckle replied to TMyers1471's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Premier shakes are 30 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar, and are less than a $1 each if you get them at Sams/Costco. I prefer the chocolate over the vanilla - supposedly they make strawberry, too, but I've never seen that unicorn. The other thing great about them is that they are pre-made so they are great to travel with, etc. -
Sleeved On The 27Th, And I Feel Strangely Good!
Minckle replied to sooner boomer's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I don't doubt you, I'm just wildly jealous! -
I waited until I decided that my daughter was "old enough" - whatever that meant! The reality is that the #1 reason I did it at all is because I want to be healthy enough that I can be with my daughter for a long time - see her grow up and not die when I'm 50 because of all my obesity-related stuff. So, really, if she was the #1 reason I did it, I shouldn't have waited as long as I did!!!!!! I have absolutely relied on my friends and family for help, but that's okay. They support me because they want me to be around for a lot longer, too! Seriously, keep reading this board. What are the odds that it doesn't work for you? You have much greater odds that the obesity will kill you. That's just fact. Please don't keep waiting. It's better to "inconvenience" your family for a bit now than to deprive them of YOU too early.

Ditto on the Premier chocolate shakes. Don't taste artificial at all. -
Suck It Up The Dr Says
Minckle replied to Looking Ahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, HELL no. I agree with enigmachik. That is completely not okay. There is no reason for you to be in that much pain - especially with your drain! Go to the ER and send him the bill. And, yes. Find a new doctor! -
Periods After Surgery?
Minckle replied to melissamae99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exact same thing happened with me! Did your Dr. tell you to use alternate birth control for 3 months? This surgery plays with our hormones and the Mirena is no longer effective. -
Gallbladder Vs Sleeve Pain
Minckle replied to newlifeforlittleME's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my gallbladder removed in 1998 and my sleeve done last month. Gallbladder was much more painful and I was a young and healthy 24 when I had it done. Side effects are worse with the sleeve, but the pain is much easier for sure. -
I had four gallbladder attacks before my gall stones were diagnosed and all of them had me in the ER. Crushing chest pain is the hallmark symptom. Believe me - you'll know when you have one.

I've been doing well with the Dreyer's Fruit Bars with No Sugar Added. They come in tangerine, strawberry and raspberry. I'm planning on making some yogurt fruit pops with my daughter, so if those go well I will post the recipe for you.
