  1. Is this an option if you are banded?
  2. My reasons for getting banded are to be healthy and I want to know what it feels like to be thin. I love myself and I have noticed that I am having difficulty doing somethings. I have the love of a wonderful man (42 years of marriage). Three sons, the oldest one is Autistic, our youngest son is a quad amputee from a form of meningitis and our middle son just had twin girls. The joy of being a grandmother is huge, but I have had stress in my life along the way.......everyone is in a good place now and happy it is time for ME. I have thought about banding for at least two years and I decided to make it happen. My fears about the surgery (I am not worried about the surgery at all) are all of the unknown things along the way. What if I can't swallow, what if I can't sleep lying down, what if I throw up all the time and what if it doesn't work like all the other stuff I have tried over the years? I know in my mind that it will work but until I experience it for myself I won't know. I also have to get a physc eval (never had one) and a breathing test-don't know what that is. I wanted the surgery at the end of June (traveling before that) and I was able to arrange that easily. It is all falling into place-I just need to pass a couple more things.
  3. Only my husband and sons know about my surgery. I haven't shared with anyone else.
  4. I am a newbie also and I live in Colorado. I will have my surgery at Rose Hospital on June 27th. I have not been to the University Hospital. I saw my doctor for the first time last Thursday. My insurance doesn't pay anything for this surgery. I had a blood clot in 2008 after a broken knee/leg so I have to have a physc evaluation and a breating test. The physc doc is suppost to contact me and I haven't heard a date for the breathing test. I have been told that I will have the surgery and go home the same day. My fears are for the unknown aspects of the band and learning to live with it. Everyone is different but we are all on the same path to a healthier us. I will watch for your posts and we can share our concerns and successes. Take care.
  5. I am scheduled for LBS on 6/27- my journey begins......I've been thinking of the surgery for sometime and finally decided to make it happen. It comforts me that there are many friends along on this journey. I see myself thin and I know this will work. Reading all of your posts helps with the unknown (for me) things ahead. Thanks to all of you for being there for all us newbies.
