    Fast Food Drinks

I was just going to suggest lemon juice and splenda but someone had the same great idea. I pack Instant decafe Iced tea crystals too. With the splenda and lemon it is quite tasty.

    Rude Comments!

my best friend was thin but she was really scared to lose me to surgery. She kept asking questions too. I think its more out of live and concern the negative comments. My other best friend is my husband who didn't like that I was having surgery but once I decide to do something I do it. He has changed his heart and mind about it and sees how good it has been for the whole family. He has lost weight with me without the surgery because I changed. Instead of resturant eating we now go for walks in the park. I think your friend my be insecure but having confidence to stick with something good for you hopefully she will see the posative in your decision. Nothing that changes anf grows in nature dies that is the same with relationships.
  6. I eat some carbs but its complex good carbs like canned unsweetened Fruit and whole wheat crackers. I am 11 weeks out and eat a small variety. I still can't eat rice, bread, and some pasta but it really helps you lose weight. I lost 32 pounds since surgery. If it cures the insulin resistance you are going to be healthier.

Yummy Food - Frozen Greek Yogurt

I agree with you. Being a sleever doesn't mean we cannot have a good for you treat. I eat them and it isn't extremly high in sugars. I count sugar grams all day. Keep suggesting good stuff and don't let others get you down.
  8. My 11 year old son is type one for 5 years & on a pump. I know so much about Type one and two. I am type 2. You have a different scenario than us type twoers. For those who don't know it win't cure a type 1 person but i am sure it will help shed those hard to lose pounds. I think as long as you keep in close contact with the endocronologist through the first weeks after surgery and check those BG's regular You will be fine. Best of Luck. Keep us updated. I think it is scary to get insulin resistant and on a pump.

    Is Apple Juice Bad?

crystal light gives me headaches. I make Koolaide with splenda. A trick to get off juices since they are high in calories is to mix it with water. Our peditrician said it wasn't healthy for kids to drink more than 4oz a day and Adults should be around 8 oz. It is your choice but helpful advice since you asked is not meant to burden but uplift you. I need help in other areas like ice cream. I had to stop eating full fat sugar and switch to low carb.

    Stalled!

example : breakfast is a half cup of cereal, almonds and a half cup of milk. Then fruit and cheese for snack, protein shake or bar for lunch about 8oz, peanut butter w/ crackers (half serving on box), 1/2 cup cut fruit or smoothie and supper today was half cup tomato soup with protein powder and cheese. Then for snack half a fruit cup with protein jello and/or pistachios. I like fruit it keeps me regular & I try to Get all my water in too so it seems I am always eating. I work-out at least 30 minutes a day too.

    Stalled!

My dietician and Dr. said not to care about calories vs eating plenty of protein. They said 800 to 1000 calories would be good standard. I had to increase 200 calories to my 1000 to lose more weight. I hit starvation mode and didn't lose a lb until I upped my calories. I have lost 27 lbs since March 19, my surgery date.
  16. yes my tummy hurt. And it hurt if things were really cold more that hot. I hurt sometimes if I drink too much water. You soon get over the pain. I noticed I could drink Ice water the other day without pain.
  17. I got them bad after surgery but what helped me was to actually do leg lifts on my back and side. I then did squats if that didn't help. It worked them muscles to fautgue so they would stop twitching. I go to bed a bit earlier now to get in my exercise. Its weird but I hate that twitchy pain.

    After Soft Foods, What's Next?

I was sleeved march 19th and still cannot eat all normal foods yet. I get in my protein mostly with shakes not meat. I can eat steamed vegetables, crackers, rice cake, and some flat breads but no real bread or salad yet. But everyones different I hear. Just wondering when some got back to eating normal foods too.
  19. I had some melted cheese off the top and got so sick and grossed out I don't even crave pizza anymore. fixed me lol Check out the recipes section for pizza alternatives. Like cauliflower crust pizza.

Can I Use An Artificial Sweetener?

Splenda is what I use. I hate Stevia/truvia, it makes an awful after taste in my mouth. Aspertame like in crystal light and Equal give me killer head aches. Plus Aspertame is linked to weight gain. Never liked saccarine/sweetnlow. I also use a tbsp of honey a day in tea since it has a low glycemic index and doesn't raise my blood sugars. Splenda is closest to regular sugar on a molecular level. So that is how I feel its best for me.
  21. Hi I was sleeved by Dr Wynn on March 19th. Do you come to support group at Christiana Hospital? I just started last month. Would like to know if I meet you.
  22. I take a Trader joes chewable multi-Vitamin. vit B-12 sublingual then a crushed Iron supplement in the morning. I take a viactiv calcium chew with Vitamin A and D, Natures way Probiotic chewable and a Vitamin C / Glucosamine fizzy drink for evening. The Nurse told me to always separate the calcium, D and A Vitamins from iron, multi-vitamin and B vitamins for better absorption.
