neener1970 replied to Diva Down's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My cravings are weird probably related to the reduction in food but I crave avocados, eat tomatoes like apples and salmon. nothing bad of course but my family thinks I'm crazy when I mow down on tomatoes for lunch lol -
Gaining Weight Or Stuck At A Plateau Anyone?
neener1970 replied to Lou Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Usually doctors have a much lower cash price. My insurance covers mine at 1600 a fill however my doctor has a sign in her office that self pay fills are only 199 . I would request a reduction for cash pay:) -
*pounds lol I can't type today

Something as simple as my monthly cycle cans add 8-10 ponds to my weigh in. You weigh in the morning after potty, skip it during Pms/cycle times and take measurements once a month.

I did pretty bad at one point. I started taking biotin and it seemed to help my hair and nails

High Protein/low Fat Foods...
neener1970 replied to Secondchanceatlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not at all salmon is a nice firm fillet not very "fishy" at all top with avocado after baking and I eat it with steamed squash or asparagus -
I use canned chicken with a little light mayo and wasa crackers. It's also good on wheat tortillas pizza style. Tuna with light mayo and hard boiled egg whites is good too.

High Protein/low Fat Foods...
neener1970 replied to Secondchanceatlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too love the salmon which I never ate before . I make chicken stew with kidney white and black beans. Veggie burgers (Morningstar) with orowheat thins instead of buns and cottage cheese, ground turkey and tofu tossed in spinach pasta (if u can eat pasta) u can also add tofu to soup stew and salads for a protein boost. Lunches I will eat one slice of rye or a thins, topped with turkey tomatoes and avocado. Usually followed by Greek yogurt. If I don't have time for breakfast I keep a stash of protein bars on hand so I can grab and go -
I love the attention. I was over 400 pounds and I do look way different and those compliments just remind me that I am making a change so big everyone can see it. Bring on the compliments cause it's only logical I look better without 2 chins 2 cheeks and size 40W pants !

I can't eat oranges at all and apples I can do yellow apples with peel but all other apples I peel. All other fruits go down fine I eat grapes strawberries watermelon (yes it's a squash lol I know) nectarines bananas all go fine tolerance is individual but oranges are a common problem with bandsters

Doctor No Longer Doing Plication :(
neener1970 replied to alex77709's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band alone is very effective ( in my personal experience) at controlling appetite and portions I started at over 400 pounds so I get insane eating . You will still have to make good food choices and get active but if u really want it you can do it with the band and no plication hang in there and if plication is that important find another surgeon -
I agree gas just seems to be the norm I am 7 months out and my stomach is like my husbands and he has gastritis so toot away lay off the fiber when you are not in the comfort of home and keep the gas x handy I believe it is inescapable

Band Really Tight In The Morning/afternoon Then Fairy Loose In The Evening??
neener1970 replied to tiggabounceonyou's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You have to make you time. I get up a half hour earlier than I really need to and have hot tea or coffee and then after my shower I have breakfast. The extra sleep is missed but my appetite spikes later in the day if I skip breakfast and if I don't drink a hot beverage food gets stuck every morning. The band is still a little tight at lunch but by dinner I can eat normally. Jasmine green tea is a great one to try. -
I count my calories and also try to avoid excessive carbs and sugar but I agree there are times where a need for sweet can be powerful for me it's during my cycle. I also occasionally enjoy a piece of dark chocolate. I also get fiber one 90 calorie brownies and make sure it fits into my calorie intake for the day. It knocks my craving out and doesn't destroy all my hard work but in general if your sweet tooth is daily rather than periodic you may just have to look at it as a habit you have to let go of to succeed. I know it's hard even being banded it takes work but you can do it just think of all you have gone through to change your life
