Hello Everyone, I am doing just fine, I have to go back to work tomorrow:(. I still get tired easily, but as far as pain is concern I have very little over all. My port incession is still a little tender also other then that every thing is Great! I have no bruising Dr. Choban done a awsome job, one of my strips came off today and I am amaze at how it looked underneath (it was one between the breast) I don't believe that will even leave a small scar! Today before I went off to Church the scales kept calling my name:heh:, so I had to see them and hop up on them and I have lost 13 pounds since surgery date, now that makes me very happy. I hope when I go see Dr. Choban on Thursday she puts me on the next food level, I am getting bored with the Full liquids (Campbells makes a Soup called Creamy chicken Verde that is very very good it is a little spicey I need to find more of it krogers only had one can). How is every one else doing? Debbie, yes on your first fill you do get it Xray so She see exactly with the port is.

Hello Debbie, and Sue Well I am now banded and I am so happy!!!! So I had my surgery on Monday at 11:30a, I was up in my room by 3:30p after recovery and up and walking around by 4:00p the nurses, and Dr. were surprise, although I was still a little light headed I was determine to get my healing on its way!! I have not experience any of the Gas pain that people have talked about so I guess walking all those laps:D has paid off and all the praying we did! I came home yesterday, and was pampered by my Husband, but today I am up and taking care of myself (Husband has caught himself a cold:sick so I let him sleep in.) Over all I am doing pretty good, I still have pain but nothing I can't tolerate! Sue I Love Dr. Choban, so when you get to the point and Charlene is asking you which Dr. you want, I HIGHLY SUGGEST you ask for her!!! The incissions' look good from what I can see! She is a Very nice Dr. with Great bed side manners'. As soon as surgery was over she went out and talked to my husband to let him know every thing went great and where I was at. Ok I will stop rumbling on, on I'm just so excited! Debbie how much weight have you lost total now? I need to send husband out to buy me a new scale old one broke:cry! I will talk to yall later

Hello Everyone! I just got a call today from the Dr's office and I will be BANDED on Monday July 23!!!!! I was not excepting a surgery date so soon so I am on HAPPY!! So now I am a LUCKY # 7 Person!!! I started my journey in Oct of 07, to only find out that my husband insurance did not cover ANY weight loss surgery. So I waited till 07 and joined my ins, So here I am 6 days out to surgery date: and get this, my husband ins was the first to approve the surgery so now what ever my ins. doesn't pay his will pick up the rest!!! (guess they figured it is cheaper in the long run to pay for the surgery instead of either medical problems related to obesity.) This web site has been so very helpful. So my advise to anyone who's ins. turned them down last try again, the worst thing they can say is no but they can also surprise you and has changed their policy. I just gave them my husband ins card hoping they would pay for the dr. visit or a little of some thing, I never thought I would get this kind of BLESSING!!!!! OK, OK I'm done rumbling, I'm just so Geeked!!!!

:whoo::omg: This just in.............. I received a call today from Dr. Choban's office asking if I can have my surgery on Monday July 23!!! I can't believe it I only have 6 more days and I will be on the banded side I am so happy I could scream, oh ok oh ok I did Scream!!!!! I didn't think it would happen so fast but I'm so excited!!!!!! I just had to share my Great news with you guys!!! Debbie what did you have to do the day before surgery, did they make you stop eating at a certain time the night before? I will be out of town this week end and won't be back to late the night before surgery and need to know what I will have to do while I'm away. I know this sounds awful but I'm kinda upset that I will be out of town and won't have a chance to go to my favorite resturant and have my last piece of prime rib. Ok I will talk to you ladies later!

Hello Sue, and Debbie, :whoo:First let me start off with sharing the GREAT NEW'S!!! I received a call from Dr. Choban's office stating that my Insurance has approved me for the Surgery!!!! So now I am waiting for them to call me back to set up my next appointment!!!! Maybe I will be banded by the end of this month or the first part of next month! Sue: Do you have any other health issue, such as High blood pressure, or diabetes? If so that along with a BMI OF 35 OR Higher makes you a canidate for lap band surgery. So good luck with that! Debbie: How are things going with you how much weight have lost so far, have you started working out yet? Have you went for your first fill yet? do you have any suggestion for me to go out and buy to have at the house before I have the surgery? Well as I said before I have chose not to tell anyone except my Husband about me having the surgery, so I must start working out so folks can see me and believe that this is the reason I am losing weight:eyebrows:. I guess in reailty it is kinda of little white lie:lie:. Oh well it's my business and ! Oh I must go out to dinner and have my "Last" meal Prime Rib:hungry: I know I shouldn't but I must. Hello Sue, how is your journey to be banded going? You haven't giving up have you? I am waiting for my Ins. to approve me, Hopefully they will do it soon so I can have a late July or early Aug. surgery date!!! The waiting is driving me CRAZY:eek:!!!

Good for you:whoo:! I cant wait to be banded and start losing like you!! Just think the weight you are losing now is "Free" weight loss, can you imagine what kind of weight that you'll be losing once you have your first fill?

You were right I liked Dr. Choban. She answered all my question whiched wasnt many due to this board and the book Fighting Weight by Kahliah Ali. Now I'm just waiting on the Ins. to get my paper work and approve my surgery. How are you doing? are your incisions doing, and your gas pain? hope you are feeling better!

I hope that your Gas pain has gotton better!! So did the Dr. write you off work for 2 weeks? How are your incisions looking and feeling? Are you still happy you went with Dr. Choban? I have an appointment tomorrow morning with her, I hope after that they process my paper work FAST to the insurance company so I can be banded soon!! I am so mad at my self for procastinating with getting my appointments done! Oh well that is LIFE!! Well I hope you get back to feeling 100% soon. :biggrin1: Dibbie you have less then 24 hours and you will be a new Banded Baby!! I am so happy for you!!!!! I will keep you in my Prayers' Hopefully I will only have to wait only couple of months I want this to be my last summer that I refuse to wear shorts in 90 degree weather, and be able to wear this leather outfit that I brought that I have never been able to wear (one of those moments that I thought I was going to lose so much weight that never happen:embarassed:.)

Hey does anyone remember seeing a thread that had a list of items you need to buy before surgery to have when you get home? It had alot of good things on it and I meant to print it out but know I cant find it to save my soul

I have an appt. to see Dr. Choban on June 19, hopeful after I see her they will send my paper work into the Ins. Company soon so they can approve it FAST!! I'm glad you informed that Dr. Choban is likeable. :dance:OH MY GOSH Debbie you only have 9 more days before your gonna be a Banded Lady!! I am So happy for you and jealous at the same time I guess I shouldn't have dragged my feet with all of my appt's. Oh well hopeful I will have an Aug. surgery date. Do you think that is a realilistic goal? So Dr. Choban only wants to give you 2 weeks off, I won't be able to take STD I will need to use some of my vacation days, oh well tahts ok I didn't have plans to go any where this year. Did she say how long you would have to stay in the hospital? I would love to go home the same day! As I said before the only one who knows that I'm having this done is my Husband. I need help finding a Thread: Does any one know where I can find the Thread that has the List of items you should have on hand when you come home after Surgery?

I took my paper work and administration fee in on Thursday 5/24/07, I couldn't set up an appointment they said they had to get all of my paper work together and they will call me some time this week. You have inspired me to get all things in order so I can have the surgery maybe by the end of July, or the begining of Aug. I hope that is not an unrealistic dream, I need this so bad!! I even went out yesterday with my husband looking at cars, I end up wanting a sports car, since I know by the time I will get a new car I will be lot lighter the what I am!!! I am also looking at clothing that I want to wear also. I just thinking, if I had of taking care of my paper work in a timely maner, we would be having a close surgery date:( oh well I can only go forward from here. You'll have to keep me posted on how things are going with you!

I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! You have put fire under my feet!! I will be calling tomorrow to get an appointment with the surgeon, hopefully they'll let me schedule before they get my administration fee on Friday!!! As for the bill coming for the nutritionist, I think you can forget about that coming because every one is suppose to pay that up front before you even get in to see her,so I guess that is one free service that you received out of some of their high price service Keep me posted I'm so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Suecasb! I just thought $300.00 was a bit much considering that we are doing all the work, All the Administrator is doing is sending the paper work that we did to the insurance company and waiting for the respond from the ins. I have completed all the things I needed to do now I have to send my $300.00 for administration fee. I kind of did things back wards:) Well Good luck!! Look through this web site, it has alot of good info!!!

I'm so happy for you, I am doing Cart Wheels, So that is not an earth quake you guys are feeling its just me flippping for joy for DEBBIE!!!:cheer2: have they told you how long it will take before you get a surgery date? I'm so happy for you Debbie! I will be sending in my $300.00 for my administration fee Friday! I had to use the money that I had for to go to Tennesse when my cousin was killed in an motorcycle accident, and then my car was in the shope and had to spend even more money! So when I get paid Friday I am just going to send them the money so I can get in to see the Surgeon and get on my way like you!!!!

I just checked with my insurance and they also paid the Psychologist instead of sending me the check, so I'll give it a few weeks and call his office to check the status of my refund of $184., that is after I confirm that he has sent my clearance to Mt. Carmel:D . I am waiting for an appt. with the surgeon. I hate wating!!!! Do you know if they have submitted the correct procedure code, and the total cost for the surgery to the ins. company yet?

That sound great, 6 months is not a long time to wait for this, if you think about how long other people have post on this forum and said it has taking them. Just think April is almost over so all you really will have to do is wait thru May, June will be here before you know it, also your not sounding Negative, just frustrated! I still have to pay for my administrator fee to get in to see the surgeon, I have done every thing else, I thought I would pay it Monday but I'm still waiting on my checks to come in the mail if they are not here by tomorrow I guess I will get a money order and send that payment out. I just figured out that I should have done that payment first, I didn't read the papers all the way through I just thought I had to have every thing done before I sent in that paper work. I spoke with Charlene and she said that it was ok, many people have done it that way to ( guess I'm not the only one getting excited and and not reading the all the writing). So hopefully I will be getting in to see the surgeon, and I will have a Surgery date right after yours:-)

Glad to hear you haven't given up, I got kinda busy with my youngest son and his basketball and it took me time to get in and se the Psychologist, and set up the appt. with the nutritionist, so I am behind schedule then what I would like to be but I just keep me patition and know that I will get this done. As for the ins. I have BS/BS but not the federal plan so hopefully I wont have to do the diet either I just keep envisioning me as the thin "young" woman that I'm going to be. So keep an positive attitude that you will have an surgery date soon.

Hello Debbie, How are things going for you? Did your ins. get the fax from Mt. Carmel yet? You haven't given up have you? I went to see the Psychologist last week, I go to see the nutritionist on 4/23, then I guess I'll have to wait to get an appt. with the Dr. I hope none of my paper work gets lost I am looking forward to having this done soon. I'm just wondering if after the Dr. forwards my paper work to the ins. company they will make me do a six month's "supervise" diet, that will make me angry!!

Hello Debbie!!!!How's every thing going with you? You haven't given up have you??? I will be calling and setting up an appt. with a psychologist today, I called Mt. Carmel and they said the list they give is just a suggestion not mandatory to use them, I spoke with Dr. Fathman today and said they were having problems getting paid thru the ins. companies and thats why they now require payment up front. I also will be attending the support group in April, hopefully I can get things roling so I can get a date soon.

Maybe if you call his office and explain that you had no idea they wouldn't be submitting the office visit fee to the ins. company they will send you a copy of your receipt: your going to need that to provide prove to the ins. co. that you have paid that much towards your out of pocket (I'm glad I couldn't answer the phone when he called so he had to leave all that info on my voice mail so I could replay it 2 times). I think I'm going to call barix. center and see if they can give me a rough est. of what out of pocket expense I will have to pay. But did it make sense that Dr. Fathman wouldn't submitt the paper work being how he is in our net work (BCBS) Maybe that's his way of not having to abide by the ins. contract fee? Maybe if I decide to go with him I will call BCBS and ask them about this pratice. I'm sorry I just had to vent on that issue!!!!! Oh and about the Barix center maybe the Dr. in Michigan was/is a In Network Dr.? It is still early you can still have the surgery done by April or May and start getting your Girlish figure back:biggrin1: Don't you give up, and I won't give up either:D

Debbie, let me first start off by asking which Dr. did you see, the one in Dublin at 766-6688? I think its Dr. Bob W? If you did he does not submit the paper work to your insurance, he left me a message today stating that, and that I needed to bring the $350.00 in cash or check. But I have a problem with that because he is "in network" Dr. for BCBS Okay fine ask for your money up front but dang:mad: .......... Can't he submit the paper work to the insurance after all he is getting paid $ 350.00 for an hour or so:omg: ?????? I can truly feel how it start to make you dis hearted, but don't let it discourage you, just pray on it and everything will work itself out. Don't let the obstacles discourage you, "Keep on keeping on" and before you know it you will be that healthy young lady that you once knew! You know I'm starting to add up every thing that Mt. Carmel wants to charge us that the insurance does not cover, and I'm thinking to my self now..... It is almost $1000.00 I can just go to the Bariatric Center in Groveport Ohio and just let them handle it. I went there before and found out that that my old insurance didn't cover O. surgery, but they were on top of things within two to three weeks they got back with me told me that my insurance didn't cover it and gave me other option. So What I'm thinking about doing is going back to them and just paying the difference between "out of Network" cost, shoot with Mt. Carmel I will already be paying $1000.00 that the insurance won't be billed for, and then after the surgery I will still if to pay my deductibles. I am going to think that over before calling the "psychologist" back and scheduling an appt. with him. Sorry about the Long response but these things tend to make me:angry angry! I needed a after this!!!!
