Hello Debbie, My appt. is Thurday also at 2:00p, however I am starting to re-think if I should get another fill, I am now down 31 pounds so I am losing, I should be happy with that:cry I guess, but I still think I should have restriction, and not be hungry like I am, but what do I know I'm a Rookie with this!!! So what does everyone think, To get a bigger fill or remain the same until I'm due for my schedule Fill? I just thought I should be losing more weight faster since my first fill. -

I haven't lost any weight either so I need to get this handle soon. I also need to work out much more then I have been but I'm just to lazy!!!! -

First lets talk about them heel spurs of yours:eek: Them things are a killer!!! what are you doing about it, when I had them this year I went to Dr. Lee Pearlman with Step Lively and he took really good care of me. I went in March 07 He first taped my feet in the right position that they should be and had me wear these night splint, and then he order me some inserts, and as of today I am pain free:whoo:!!!!!!!! He does not believe's that surgery should be the very last resort and I thank God for him I was in sooooo much pain I could hardly walk for any period of time without being in tears:think. Now I try to walk at least three times a week, Now Debbie is riding her bike, walking, she is my role model here, I need to be more like her. -

See Dorothy that is why I had to go find you. Man I was starting to think that I was seeing things!! Okay Ladies it is "TOM" for me and it is hard I WANT something sweet and salty (Thinner Me, I will pray for you and you PRAY:pray2: really hard for me!!!!) As far as being resriction I don't believe I have any, I just eat a little food at a meal, I think I just never got my appetite back from the surgery, I think I will call Dr. Chobans office next week to see what they say. I don't dare get on the scale with it being time of the month. Dorothy don't be nervous, just do all your research and I'm sure you'll decide to have the Lap Band Surgery, I have not regretted it once yet, and cant wait to get into these leather pants :eyebrows: -

I have not been banded yet. I just received my papers today that I have been accepted by Dr. Choban's office. My question is does Dr. Choban require a liquid diet for a few weeks before surgery to shrink the liver? I have read alot about this on other forums and I am curious. Good luck to everyone!!! __________________ DOROTHYB -

Hi I had my surgery july 23, 2007 by Dr. Choban. Well the only liquid deit you have to do is 24 hours before surgery you have to go on liquids only. Now the first time you meet her she will ask you to start to lose weight before surgery to help shrink your liver, it makes the surgery go a little easier. You will like Dr. Choban! Now once you get your package start handling your appoints because the sooner you get them done the sooner you get in to see Dr. Choban. I have got to ask this question, there is about four of us who are on another thread N E 1 been Banded at Mt. carmel col, oh and I thought I answered this question last night but when I went back to the thread your message was missing and the only thing there is my reply..... I have told the other ladies I wasn't crazy that there was a post.... So was that you or am I really insane..... don't worry if you didn't I will just blame it on my fainting spell I had:D Any way if you need to talk to people who have had surgery done by Dr. Choban that is the thread that we are on. -

Debbie, You are like me, as to where we need to lose 100 pounds or less, with LB you only need to take off a week off work, (a lot of people go back before a week is up.) I had the LB surgery on July 23, 2007 and I have already lost 28 pounds, yes with GB you will lose a lot faster but in the long run which surgery has the best out come. I know 2 people who have had GB surgery and gained all, and most of their weight back and guess what they have decided to have done....... They are going and having LB surgery. What they are telling me is that since putting their weight back on they have stretch the stomach out. My opinion is with the amount of weight that you need to lose the Lap Band would be the Best for you. Good Luck on what ever decision you make! -

Okay I will stop worring so much, I am eating the right foods so that is good enough for now, but if come next tuesday if I get on the scales and I haven't lost any weight then I will get concern and call Dr. Choban. I guess where I've read on other threads where people eat to much and they PB'ing, maybe there band is to tight, and our's is just right. However I kinda' wish mine was that way I would lose more weight faster "No Pain, No Gain:rolleyes:" Congrats on almost hitting the big 50 I just cant wait to be able to share that kinda Info with you guys!!! -

Debbie, I don't believe I have resriction after my fill for dinner I was able to eat a whole chicken breast and some mash potatoes without any problems. I thought I would not be able to eat that much? Can you eat that much in a serving? I have to wonder if this is going to be enough to keep me losing weight:paranoid. I got the feeling of being "full" but not like it was up in my throat, just a feeling like, I have being eating less and there fore I cant eat as much as I use to. Do you think I have some thing to worry about, and I need to call Dr. Choban so I can get a bigger fill? I want to be at a point that I can eat maybe half the breast and a little bit of taters and feel if I take another bite I will hurt myself! -

Heres the thing I am not very squeamish about needles and shots, I could care less about either one of them I donate blood I just don't know what caused me to Faint, maybe it was the medicine, I couldn't tell you all I know is good thing I came to because you know how small Dr. Choban is and the other two would had trouble picking me up:o. Hey at least I gave them warning that I was wuzzy, Michele later said when some one tells us that we normally have 5 minutes to react, so I assume that they were attempting to react to me when I first told them I don't remember much after telling them as I said next thing I know I was coming to on the floor (that still makes me laugh). Oh well I bet they make sure I'm on my back from now on:biggrin1:. Now had I been a really big person, I could have easily unjured myself. They may want to start using the X-Ray machine to stand others up, they can tilt the table and use a foot rest to do this. -

Hey Thinner Me as you can see I didn't mention any thing on how to get your protien intake.............That is because I am doing VERY HORIBLE in that department I need to order some of that unjury to start getting any where near what we are suppose to have:(. My DH is fussing at me on that subject. I believe that is why my skin is so dry my hands, and feet are peeling so I better get that under control SOON! -

Well the only pain you do feel is from the needle they use for pain/numbness meds and after you get pass that small pain your good to go unless your weak like me and pass out:heh: (did not hurt myself). Yes you go every six weeks for a check up and to decide how much of a fill you need. The nap did me Good. As for feeling restricted, yes I can tell I just ate a very small portion of Mash potatoes and I could truely tell I hope I keep this feeling!!!!! Although I am suppose to be going to Cincinnatti next week-end to hang out with my cousin and his wife and he is a big going out to dinner and he has said next time I come we are going to this nice Seafood place and I will not be able to enjoy like I would like to... you know before being banded. So I guess I will have left over galore.... P.S the only one who knows about me having the Lap Band other then my D.H is one of my sisters. My youngest son (16) just thought I was having female trouble when I was laying around the house after surgery that was the don't ask Mom because I don't want to hear about Cramps and things:cool:, all he asked was are you ok, and can I get you any thing, and my oldest son (21) has his own place and when he was over I was fine. I can't wait till you and TM are banded !!! You guys will be so happy with your discussion, I have no regrets!!!!!!!!! Talk to every one later. Hey Debbie, did you feel wuzzy at all during your first fill? -

Well today I went for my 1st. fill so I'm in the X-ray room standing up as Dr. Choban and Michele was in the process of filling my band and I say " I feel WUZZY:wacko:" my arms was above my head next thing, I lower my arms to the X-ray machine and the next thing I know I am on the floor :faint:and Dr. Choban, Michele and X-ray girl are on the floor with me asking if I'm ok I say sure I'm okay, I guess between the meds. and the fact of knowing that the were sticking and poking a needle in me got the best of me. Anyhow we finish the fill on the X-ray table with me kinda in the standing position. I got 1 1/2 cc fill and now I'm on full liquids for the next 24 hours. After every thing was done, and they made sure I was doing Fine, Dr. Choban tell's me she will see me in her office in 6 weeks for my next fill. Michele then adds yes and next time you will be laying down:bounce:, as we all laugh at my experience. As for the omnipaque fill this thread is the first time I heard of this but as I looked on other threads here I'm understanding it as a thicker fill that stays in the band, that Dr. use when some bands are some how losing thier saline time and time again. Okay now that I shared my 1st. Fill I need a nap :notagree I guess that is from the fall:heh: -

Welcome Thinner me!!!!! I missed the storm I was in Ky. for the week-end. I am 39 also w/ two boys 21 and 16. That's amazing we are both married to the Worlds Best Husband:D. Man why didn't your Ins. allow you to do the Supervise weight loss, and the Dietician combine, bummer, However it looks like if you get the dietician done you can be lined up to have surgery in maybe Feb. which means by summer you should have lost enough weight to be ready for "Summer wear":biggrin1:. I have lost as of Friday 24 pounds, I got Banded on 7/23/07(Have not regretted doing it at ALL!) so far so good, and I go for my first fill 9/4/07 I cant wait!!!!!! Ok so Welcome again and do keep us posted on how things are going!! -
Can a UHC exclusion be overturned on apeal
Lady Q T replied to bigez1's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hi Tony, When was you denied? I was denied last year by UHC, so when 07 came around I picked up my ins. at work BCBS (UHC was thru my Husband job). So when I was going thru to get approved by my ins. the Dr. office also sent UHC paper work too and low and behold UHC approved me before my own ins did. -
Hello Scgardenlady, I believe that a lady I talk with on this thread N E 1 been Banded at Mt. Carmel col, oh has the same ins. as you so she may be able to tell you what the ins. paid for hers. her name is Debbie1 (something like that there is only three of that talk on that so She is the only Debbie, very nice and will help you out if she can. But in my case I have BCBS (not Federal) and It paid for my Dr. visit before for they approved me, the only bill that I had to pay up front was the "Shrink" to tell me I was sane:D. P.S We are in Ohio so there may be some difference. Any how Good luck.

Hello everyone! I have been so busy lately that I haven't really had a chance to get on this computer!! Well I have lost 22 pounds so far. I am suppose to be on Puree food :omg: but I just can't take the texture or looks of puree food even though the taste is the same, so I decided that since I am healing so well I could move to the soft food, so I have been doing a combo of the full liquids and soft food (CHEW, CHEW, CHEW:heh:). I don't have much of an appetite still so I am not getting enough protien, I don't know if it's just my head playing tricks on me to make me feel full after a small amount of food. But the weight lost is making me feel GOOD!! I started walking Saturday with my husband (well he ran and I walked:)). Debbie I see you had your first fill, I can't believe you can eat cookies I thought that would make us sick or something, man I hope my carvings don't come back, I have been pretty happy with my sugar free fudge pops, I'll to keep telling my self if I eat it, it will make me very sick, me playing head games with myself:wacko:. Sue, I'm with Sue on follow up calls to check your status, I even check on line with my ins company to see when the Dr. office submitted their billing. Good luck and hope to have you as a banded baby along with us. I do not regrett having the surgery on bit!! Debbie how is your incession looking? Mine aren't doing to bad, I am using Mederma and I guess it is helping. I am looking forward to my first fill which had to be pushed back two weeks due to my 6 weeks falling on Labor day week and there are way to many people off at my job were I can't take any time off:eek: so I will have to deal with it, I can do it! I just hope I don't start getting hungry before I get my fill, and I am going to ask Dr. Choban to go aggressive on the fill I want to get the most out of my first fill. I want to be a Hot Mama sooner then later:D Talk to you guys later, I will do better with keeping up with this thread. -
