What You Haven't Lost All The Weight Yet?
babydumplin1968 commented on Jim1967's blog entry in Jim1967's Blog
Remember this is Your journey... people are going to have something to say no matter what the situation. I regret telling the few people that I did.. there is someone on my campus who had the same WLS and she has basically given up... but for the most part, people are very supportive...of course you have the debbi downer's... those that say that I really didn't need to have surgery... I even had someone to tell me that I was going to look like a crack head... lol Don't get discouraged... stay strong!!! remember this is not a quick fix..it's a life style change that's going to take some time... -
I carry a bottle of water and powerade-zero with me all day... taking sips throughout the day... i have had some pressure in my chest, but it usually goes away if i take a short walk around my building at work... the burning near the port site is not as bad but it itches sometimes... when is your next dr. visit?

I'm 7 days post op... still on liquid diet but i can have cream soups now... i started noticing that the broth from the soup wasn't doing me any justice... ten minutes afterwards, i was starving... yesterday i started eating cream soups that i diluted with chicken stock and water... had a baked potatoe soup thinned and strained... it seemed to have done the trick... been full all day... waiting to drink has also helped... hope things get better for you... hang in there!!

Burning,pulling Sensation
babydumplin1968 commented on bonitaloca42073's blog entry in bonitaloca42073's Blog
Same thing here...7 days post op... it feels like my skin is tearing.... i noticed a small bruise around the large scar and that's where the burning and pulling is... no oozing or bleeding... thinking it has something to do with the placing of the port... it's starting to feel a little less intense... only hurts whenever i bend or turn over in bed... -
Well I'm six days post-op... still a having a little soreness whenever I bend, but not too much pain. Today was my first day back at work. So far things are ok except for the hunger. I started noticing yesterday, that after I have a few sips of soup, I start to feel really full... then about 10 minutes later, I'm starving. I start having mushies next week, God I hope that helps...

Looking back.. I wish I wouldn't have told the few people that I did... of course I had to hear about the other folks in our district that did not succeed.... but moving foward...not letting the judging eyes keep me from my goal... -
We are going on vacation for the 4th of July...we usually have a BIG cookout at my older sister's house... she and her husband are both watching their weight so, we have all decided to go to Tunica and Memphis... for a week... no buffets... just ordering from the menu... I will be on soft solids by then.... chicken and fish...In my family every event is celebrated with a cookout... weddings, divorces, birthdays, deaths... Food Food and more Food... at our last cookout, I noticed that there were at least 6 whole chickens and several other meat dishes... Wow..it's time for a change.. @honk... good idea to bring my own protein..

To Tell Or Not To Tell That You've Had Lapband Surgery Or Wls(Weight Loss Surgery)

Family support is very important... My husband wasn't too keen on the idea of me having surgery of any kind... we talked and he researched the process with me and he is on board with me being healthy... My daughter and sisters have all been so supportive. As a family, we have all struggled with our weight... they have only my best interest at heart... The surgery center is just a few miles from my house, but they all plan to be there during and afterwards... I feel so Blessed!!!!! -
I haven't even had surgery yet and I have been tempted to cheat... it's the end of the year, so there have been lots of celebrations... graduations, reunions ect... I have just decided not to go to our annual banquet... skipping the graduation party... sending a gift with my hubby and daughter... having liquids only for the last 12 days has been a struggle..

To Tell Or Not To Tell That You've Had Lapband Surgery Or Wls(Weight Loss Surgery)

I have heard a few negative comments... like I really don't need surgery. But for the most part, everyone has been very supportive. You are always going to have those people who complain about everything...(Debbie Downers). I have had to cancel most of the school events, because I'm tired of telling people why I can't have any solid foods right now. When I got a new car one time a (Mercedes) people actually found flaws with that too. It became the talk of the office. So, just trust yourself to make the right decisions. -

Yeah... privacy is the best policy. It will save you a lot of wasted time. Too bad I live in a small town... doesn't take long for everyone to know your business. Everytime I visit the doctor, one of my church members who works there, stops in to talk to me... Oh Well, life goes on... -

Well I told a select few at work..of course it spreaded like wild fire... at first I was upset but then I realized that I am an adult...I don't need anyone elses approval to make any changes to my body... if someone asks, I say Yep I'm having surgery... At this point, I really don't give a fat rat's a** about their opinions.. Time to focus on ME and MY health... if you're with me fine... if not..it's still fine... -
Just 4 more days until I am banded... completed my final office visit and surgery registration this past Friday... actually I'm not too nervous.. just ready to begin my new (healthy) life...
-
Thanks... i'm so glad that i found this website... i'm not getting much support from friends... my family has been great, but they try to give me things i can't have....
-
oh yeah... down 12lbs already... yay
-
Hang in there...it gets better... drinking the protein shake first thing in the morning helped with the headaches... lots of water, water and more water...
-
I manage to survive the endless amounts of food thrown in my face last week at work and home... they decided to serve FREE pizza during the after-school program...chewing some EXTRA dessert delights!!! ahhhh
-
Getting some strange looks from folks after they found out that I was having lap-band surgery... Just because I'm not 300lbs over weight... does't mean that I am not OVER-WEIGHT... just had to vent for a minute... back to work...Remembering that this time is all about Me and My health...not the opinions of others...

Pre Op Optifast/ Liquid Diet Diet
babydumplin1968 commented on shannons27's blog entry in shannons27's Blog
On day 7 of my liquid diet... I still have one protein shake for breakfast and two slimfast shakes in the afternoon. I was able to add a small salad starting last Sunday...I agree with the TV thing... looking at all of the adds just seems to make you crave things that you don't even really like... Cooking for my family was a challenge in the beginning but I just make sure that I am not hungry while cooking. We still eat together, I just have a salad... I did cheat on Mothers Day... I had one shrimp scampi... the guilt was just too much... ugh.. Hubby tried to force some of his catfish on me last night.... lol... just kept on eating my salad and shaking my head... just remember to keep your goal in mind...
