Getting There Is Not Easy
victoryinJesus53 replied to victoryinJesus53's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
To Lissa, thank you for the encoursgement because I am learning that this journey is one day at a time and I am yet listening to my stomach as I eat. -
I am glad your b/p has normalized as did mine. I too have noticed that my weight is coming down slowly, but I am so excited. Keep up up the good fight to get in all your protein and liquids as I have found thst there liquids in many things we take in such as milk, our protein shakes, protein or vitamin waters, etc. however, I try to drink my shakes as I grow tired of drinking them, but I learned a very valuable lesson while attending church one sunday as I felt like fainting because of not enough protein.

Thanks for your blog about appropriate walking shoes and balance. I have done some walking since my surgery, but today I decided to take my grandson to the park, which is in my neighborhood. while walking i stumbled over an uneven area and down I went. From now on I will invest in good walking shoes and take something to walk with until I buy shoes to fit my gait.

Blood Pressure - 3 Weeks Since Surgery
victoryinJesus53 commented on angellic16's blog entry in angellic16's Blog
I too had surgery ( 4/24) and before having the surgery my B/P was fine, but while in the hosptial my blood was up and down; however, after returning home and going back to my regular medication regimen my B/P begain to normalize. i check my pressure twice daily to track the readings. In the final class we were told that we could possibly be taken off all B/P meds, but I found all individuals are not the same. Stay in touch with your doctor and report any changes. drinking water is very important and follow the meal plan given you. Also, I found for me by getting up and moving (brief walking) helped tremendoudly. -
What The Heck Is Going On? I Want To Eat Everything In Sight...
victoryinJesus53 commented on Maddy's blog entry in Maddy's Blog
LAnn, according to the manual my coordinator gave me you should be eating regular by now and liquids. Allow me to explain was given to me. for the first week following the sleeve procedure yo are to be on liquids and by week 2 you are continue by incorporating soupy hot cereals, soupy or thin mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes without skin, cottage cheese, saltine crackers. by weeks 3-5 start a soft diet and slowly introduce solid foods into your diet. start with soft to chew foods and progress to foods in your regular diet like meat, fruits, and veggies. some foods you may find that your body is unable to tolerate. for me I can no longereat grits or egg salad as these foods make me feel sick on the stomach. If need be speak with your doctor and he or she will give you further direction, but please don't revert back as you have made the decision to have the surgery which is a great start and a great gift. i am pulling for you and wish you well. -

I appreciate your post and about sex after surgery, which helps me as I am almost two months out from my surgery. So having to wait another 30 days will be worth the wait. I have a great spouse as he says he wants me to bee healthy and wants my body to heal properly. Oh, by the way your post was not inappropriate at all and I can say I have already started better flexibility in her body as i was able to bend and reach diffrent items unlike before. -

I am almost 2 mos out and I have only noticed normal hair shedding, but I feel like you life is so good when your weight begans not to be an issue. I have only lost 25 pounds since 4/24/2012 and when the issues about hair loss comes up I know from previous experience that my hair will grow back because Jesus has helped it to in the past. Thank for your post and encouraging words of wisdom. -
Hair Loss-Why Doesn't Anyone Talk About It?
victoryinJesus53 replied to buckeyefan1985's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I too had great concern about hair loss so i decided to do my research prior to my surgery. I had surgery on 4/24/2012 and I learned to hair is expected to thin by months 3 to 6 and supposedly began to grow back the next few months. I also learned to take supplements as directed and drink your Protein shakes. I also journeyed to my pharmacy and began to seek out a hair Vitamin that has both Silica and Biotin, which works to provide longer and and stronger hair and nails. This product is also a supplement that requires that you take 2 soft gels daily. Also, to prevent early hair loss I began taking this supplement prior to surgery in order to get it into my system. This is all that I know at this time and I encourage you to to do your home work/research and go on with the surgery because it is worth having and do take one day at a time and make sure you pray to God for direction because you will need it. I will think of you as you make your decision about thaving the surgery. Jesus is able to help you! -
Hi, I had the sleeve done on 4/24/2012 and I returned home on 4/27/12. Out of all my research prior to surgery nothing prepared me for the constipation after. I soon learned by the end of week (last week) to leave my prescribed pain medication alone and use extra extra strength Tylenol if needed for pain. Next i leraned to to follow my physician's direction to get up and walk. Folks the key is keep moving along with taking your fluids daily to aid in alleviating the constipation problem. Also, I now take Metamucil to help add fiber to my diet daily.
