What Point Can You Start Doing Other Exercise Besides Just Walking?
victoryinJesus53 replied to innerme's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I have foudn that walking was the best mode os exercising for me and my surgeon highly suggested that I kep moving. He pointed his finger at me and said to me, " You are not sick and instructed me to move about at home in 15 minutes intervals as long as I felt comfortable. As a matter of fact i was required to get up and walk several hour following my surgery. I was really glad to walk early as it made my pain easier to bare. By the following week I was able to walk from my house to the next block, which made feel like the character Rocky when he reached his goal at the top those long stairs! you thought to purchase sugar Jello is great and don't foregt to buy sugar free popsicles and sugar free fudge bars. My bariactric coordinator suggested for the liquid stage that I use broths and moveonto soupy grits and soupy oatmeal, which was a thrill for me. Since I like to cook I used my broths and mixed in sauteed onions, which my pouch took very well intcudin sweet potatoes without the skin. Needless to say I made several trips to Wendy's to buy their baked sweet potatoe. Don't forget your shakes, which I found Atkin's advantage shake (16 grams of protein) to be the best for me and occassionally I take in Adkin's daybreak creamy strawberry banana shake ( 10g protein). victoryinJesus53 replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yesterday was a great for me and I enjoyed being with my church family celebrating the 4th of July. I was so proud because my choice of foods was healthy and I was not tempted to eat the Desserts. I also noticed that I am able to bend down easier than before my surgery. Wow, I thank .God for this new opportunity. All the discomfort has been worth the effort. I only want to be healthy as in the words of my wonderful and supportive husband. Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Nutrition Facts For Foods -

my surgeon encouraged me to keep moving and to continue comfortable exercising. My weight loss coordinator advised all sleevers to wait until we had lost about 60 lbs before attempting stenuous activity in order to lessen pressure on joints and feet. My surgeon did not use adrain during my surgery, but oh what pain I experienced despite the pain meds. no one told me that one of the incisions would near belly button, which drains off and on; however, no infection has set in. My major pain occurred during getting in and out of bed dail, which meant I took naps sitting up occasionaly until I began to heal. I do hoping you are beginning to feel better because you will as timt passes. -

i remember hearing in my education and support sessions that as you lose weight someimtes you see yourself as the same even though you are losing weight. This true as I sat holding my grand neice when I noticed I had room that was not there one month ago, and I praised God because now my stomach is beginning to reduce, but I yet have quite a way to go. Had Surgery June 25 Pain

i find that prilosec capsules work best for me -
I started this journey beginning nov 2011 by attending my first meeting gathering information about bariactric surgery and by knowing what i might be in for seem to ease my mind and made my decision a little easier. My spouse accompanied me to the meeting and we both decided on the vertical sleeve based on my prior prob, ems with high blood pressure and a high BMI COUNT. Since my surgery in April of this year God has blessed me to lose nearly 30 lbs and I am thrilled. In the begginning i assumed that i did not need to drink my protein shakes and I could eat enough proteins to sustain my self, By the middle of May 2012 I felt faint during church services and a light bulb came on. Wow, i need energy which means i need to drink my protein shakes daily not only to guard against hair loss. As I go along I am learning from everyone that the food intake will only be 3ozs at the most and my small meals can include soup, a piece of meat, or a serving of cottage cheese with fruit, etc. Thanks for this site because I am not alone and there is support.

Whoa, Wait A Sec... Hair Loss?
victoryinJesus53 replied to SaraLaughs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery on 4/24 and I have not noticed any hair loss, but I monitor my growth carefully. Prior to surgery I began taking a capsule that offered superior levels of silica and Biotin. This supplement is called Longer Stronger Hair & Nails, but I also research and found that your body needs Vitamin C in addition to Biotin. I know take 1, 000 mg of Pure Vitamin C by Nature's Bounty. You only need to take one capsule daily (I split my capsule using my pill crusher). If you do not have one you might want to invest in one. By the way I spoke to my Bariactric nutrition support coordinator on today and she reminded me to continue sonsuming between 50-60 daily, which includes my protein shakes. She also stated that there hair loss despite what we do as our bodies are going through changes, but the hair will grow back. Thid coordinator had the same surgery one year ago and her hair looks so full and appears to be growing. Biotin 5,000 mcg I have heard is helpful. -

While in the hosptial I was given prilosec for gas and nausea. My surgeon prescribed omeprazole 20 mg the generic for prilosec and I take this twice daily. Contact your doctor and ask for a prescription for nausea and gas cause you will need daily. -

in the beginning I was so excited and began shopping for my new diet and I choose to try body fortress whey protein powder:however, my new stomach was unable totolerate it. The smell mixed with skim milk made me nauseous. my younger sister conviced me to try Atkins protein shakes and the taste agrees with me. My husband was so glad that he took me shopping to by my supply of Atkins shakes. Life is grand now and now I am pushing to get in my water everyday. Whewwwwww! I am down several mores pounds. -

Fainting?!?!?
victoryinJesus53 replied to MKambalimath's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Point taken and I respect your findings. I only related what happened to me due not taking enough protein including protein from shakes because we were warned in education class and reminded in our manuel to take in at least 2 shakes daily . Of course each individual experiences different issues, please know this I wish you well and good health. -
Are Protein Drinks Hydrating?

You are so right as I found doing research about fluid intake from food sources in relation to congestive heart failure and monitiring fluid intake. Plain truth is our bodies obsorb fluids not only from liquids, but also from food items that are prepared using fluids. -

One question Have you drank your protein shakes regularly? If not, that could be part of the problem. I experienced feeling faint recently all because i did not get enough protein intake from drinking my shakes.
