    Stomach Exercises

My doc said I should start doing sit ups at 6 weeks. You should be good to go. start out slow so you don't strain yourself too hard too soon.

    Sleeping pills

When I was at the hospital, they gave me sleeping pills. I am continuing my ambien on days when I can't get my brain to shut off...just wish I didn't have to crush them(1week postoperative)

My 3 Month picture update :)

    Beautiful! Congratulations.
  4. Hugs and sympathy for all my sleeve sisters and brothers! I'm on clears until the 1st and if I have another chicken broth, I am going to start plucking. My friend got me some miso and tom yum broth so i am excited for the variety. Protein drinks are going down fine and i especially like the Chike brand. The pain seems to come and go and I suspect it may be more gas than anything else. I just feel so bloated in the mid region. Also I am getting headaches off and on and get tired pretty easily. Mood swings come fast and hard. I told my husband yesterday, "right now, I want to punch you". LOL. I also told him I am claiming no responsibility for anything I may say for the month following surgery. One thing I wanted to share was just the crazy odd sensations and emotions I have been experiencing with food. I know I have head hunger and need to find some nonfood based self soothing mechanisms, but I am weirded out that I haven't really eaten anything for about a week, and I haven't eaten the dogs or broken down and tried to eat a biscuit...or necessarily have the need to either. That is not to say I haven't had the desire or the habit to...but the intense dire need is gone. I actually sat down to a family dinner yesterday (with my broth) and yes, the rice and stir fry smelled amazing, but I survived. Without killing anyone. I wanted to lie down and roll around on the sweet pork buns, but oddly, was ok (not good, but ok) with not putting them in my pie hole. Anyway, for those who Celebrate Christmas, merry Christmas to you! This first week is rough but we got ourselves (and our loved ones who need us around for the long haul) a pretty sweet Christmas gift this year--our better health and selfcare. Be kind to yourselves and remember you deserve the very best life has to offer.
  5. Today is my last day here. You all are in really great hands, from the driver, to the on site coordinatort to Dr Campos and Dr Aceves! It's the best surgery you could hope for. Good luck to you all!

    Loving my sleeve!

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing the update!

    Jeans?

As someone who has always been ass disadvantaged, I like leggings with longer shirts or mini skirts. I have skinnier legs and the long shirt/mini gives the illusion of something under there. Trainer says to do squats if I want a J-lo bum but/butt, I think it will take more than a 100 squats a day for that sort of transformation.
  8. I am having second thoughts...nervous...worried. In particular, the doctor said that if the scar tissue from my eroded band is too bad that he may not do the sleeve but do an RNY instead. My current thinking is that if he goes in and it is too bad, that I might rather just keep my stomach intact. Maybe it's the universes way of telling me that I shouldn't get the sleeve. I am feeling guilty, and silly for even being here...and a little sorry for myself that I got to this point. What is wrong with me? Oh geez, I don't know if I can go through with this. Any words of wisdom?
  9. Thanks for checking in. I was able to be sleeved. I am feeling great and couldn't be happier. Had my second leak test today and my little belly looks like a happy noodle. My surgery was pretty long but Dr. Aceves was able to do his magic. My experience with Dr. Aceves, Dr. Campos, Yolanda, and the entire team down here has been really great.
  10. Also sleeved on the 17th. While sleeping little of stomach acid or something else burny comes up my throat. When the doc comes in i will ask him about but anyone else experience that? Just want ro know of i should be alarmed. Thanks in advance.

    new here and surgery tomorrow

Hii. I was freaking out yesterday-scared, mourning, afraid not just of dying but afraid of living without my best friend, food-- but here I am sleeved! I am a little sore but happy to be on this journey and looking forward to dedicating my life to my real best friend: me. You will be fine. This surgery is performed countless times and with great sucess...and you will be able to eat again but hopefully we will be eating better in honor our beat friends: us. Hope you have a great surgery tomorrow. I will be sending positive thoughts. *hugs*

    Cool iPad App

    Cool. Thanks!
  18. Hi. I am 'heading back to 'cali' (Mexicali, that is) this week for my sleeve with Dr. Aceves. Looking for VST'ers to meet up and walk the halls (as we recover). I was thinking we should sing Feliz Navidad to the awesome staff as some point. Any co-conspirators? Seriously, no singing required but if you are down there while I am, give me a shout out so we can meet face to face (and admire each other's fancy PJ's).
  19. Hi bgeb! I am flying out tomorrow so I will look for you..if you see an asian with a blonde streak in the front, yell "hey, Sylvia_Mom!" LOL. I am sure you will be doing great by then and I will be excited to see you on the flip side. If you ask nice, I might even sing Feliz Navidad for you. Team Aceves rocks. You are in good hands. I was down there in June for my band removal. By the time you see this, you will be on your way to a new and healthier you! Hope you get lots of rest and you should look forward to the amazing chicken broth! hugs.
  20. Surgery on Monday! Excited, but also apprehensive.

  21. Hi all. 12/17 for me too. Dr. Aceves in Mexicali. I had a band removed in June and am looking forward to sleeved life. Day 2 of a low carb pre-op and doing ok.
  22. Dr. Aceves on Dec. 17th. Had my band removed in June and looking forward to getting my sleeve for Christmas!
  23. Thanks for sharing Jane. The stastics are scary but glad to see that folks are looking at them so that patients have better information going into it. I am waitin 6 months after an eroded band removal for my sleeve...hopefully the time in between will Help minimize risk.

For those who did a two step conversion, did you feel like your stomachs was a bit swollen or bloated for a while?
