help, im gaining, and im feeling down
Healthy Mama replied to rosebud1258's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I too had my sleeve in June 2012 and started at 330. I've been teetering between 200 and 211 for over a year and it's a horrible rut. Let's encourage each other. What do you think of strength building such as arm weights. Muscle burns more calories so it has to help. What about getting a jump start and doing a week of shakes and low carbs? -
Has Anyone Developed Acid Reflux Since Surgery?
Healthy Mama replied to Mom2IrishTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I realize this conversation was from a year ago, but I can't locate anymore recent talk. I am almost 14 months post op and having terrible acid/heartburn. I know tomatoes and alcohol contribute, but must I really give them up or take a pill? My surgeon never advised to stay on anything for heartburn or indigestion. About 6 months ago I had 4 attacks that were all pressure and felt like an elephant on my chest. Now it's just the acid and I cannot even sleep lying down. I've Zantac, but everyone on this thread seems to have better luck with omeprazole or Prilosec? Thanks for any advice as I'm finding it difficult to find talk for post op issues. -
I'm trying to be more patient with the process. I am sick of Water, indigestion and trouble sleeping, but my spousal problem is front and center. I am SO grateful for my lack of desire to drink alcohol as it used to be a regular part of my life. That said I am having huge problem with my husband's lack of desire to change eating and drinking habits. Pre-op we talked in depth and he agreed things would change for the better, but they have not. I hate being around someone that is so opposite all that I am trying so hard to be. Last week he bought fried chicken for he and our 9 year old. He is 50 lbs overweight with high cholesterol and in complete denial. We are arguing terribly as well. He disgusts me with his choices and most of all his denial. I don't want to do anything drastic but I want a healthy household for our son and me and I certainly think about how much easier it would be without him around. Yes, I know he probably needs AA, but he will not go, so all other advice is more than appreciated!

Heartburn Central
Healthy Mama replied to Futureskinnyperson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 weeks out and it happens to me with just Water as well and just about all foods. I never had it pre op anmd it is making eating such a chore, taking all the pleasure out of what little I am allowed. Please someone further out, tell me this will eventually go away. -
5 Days Out, Terrible Insonmnia
Healthy Mama replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please, someone who is further out and over the sleeping problem, tell us how long it took. I am 5 weeks out and I can easily fall asleep, but inevitably wake up at 3 or 4 a.m., then to only need a nap in the afternoon. I've tried going with out a nap and to bed around 9 pm, but to no avail, I wake up at 3 or 4. I go back to sleep most times after an hour or so, but it's driving me nuts. How long should this last? I really don't want to start taking another pill. -
ATLSara: Dr Alvarez in Piedras Negras did my sleeve on June 11th. I'm happy to answer any ? you may have as I was super pleased with the care.

Surgery Scheduled June 13Th
Healthy Mama replied to Gene1970's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am June 11th. I am self pay so I've known the date, but being so close is huge and so exciting. I felt super deprived yesterday (2nd day of pre op liquid only), but the scale this morning made me feel terrific. I am so grateful to have my conscience back regarding eating healthy. I finally care and have hope again. This is my first post ever, so thanks and all the best to you! -
Live in Atlanta and headed to Mexico for my surgery with Dr Alvarez on June 11th. Would be very interested to know of local support group suggestions. Thanks!
