  1. I recently completed my psych exam. Almost 600 questions and I did my best to answer them honestly. After I finished, I spoke with the psychologist. He says that I apparently am Bi Polar. I have suspected this for years, but no doctor has ever taken me seriously. Now I have to do 4 visits with another psychologist before I can resume my lap band process. Has anyone ever had a similar experiance? How did you cope?
  2. Can anyone tell me if they have had an experiance like this? I have Medicare and my local bariatric surgeon said medicare requires six month diet. After calling several others in my state that are further away, they said Medicare DOES NOT require this. Medicare themselves have also never stated a time frame. I don't know what to do. I really don't want to have to travel very far to have my surgery, but I am so confused as to why I am getting so many different stories. Can anyone Help?
  3. I am 2 months in on my 6 month medicare required diet. The waiting is killing me and now I am starting to wander if it is worth it. I know without the surgery, I will never be healthy, but I am stll having doubts. This is a great site, but seeing all the people who are almost at their surgery date is making me sad. I want so bad to be where they are, but I am feeling like it just isn't gonna happen for me. Anyone else in the same situation?

    Sleeve Vs Lapband

Hello, I also have to lose about 150lbs., but my surgeon wouldn't even consider anything but the band for me. I guess every surgeon has their own ideas of what will be best, but ultimately it is YOUR decision. To make my decision I made a list of the pros and cons of both types of surgery. This may help you out. You will do well in what ever you choose. Good Luck!!!
  6. Hello All, I finally got to meet my surgeon last week and he said I will have to do 3 weeks pre op diet. The instructions were that I would have 4-200 cal shakes a day for 3 weeks. Anyone have any good ideas on what to try. One thing he said was slimfast. I want to know what else can I do to mix up my diet for the 3 weeks. Thanks.

    Scared

I am also in the process of getting my surgery. I have to do 5 more months of diet for insurance, which is also giving me plenty of time to think. When I have doubts, I always start thinking of all the reasons i want this. My family, health, and happiness have suffered. I want them back! Just keep your head up and chat with others on this site. It helps me everyday! Good luck and feel free to chat with me if you just want someone to talk to!!!

    First Dr. Appt. Tommorrow...help!

I actually have to do a 6 month diet for insurance and I have only had 1 appt. So at least 5 more months before I can even think about it. But I am sooo ready to have the surgery. Thanks for the questions, I hadn't even wrote anything like that down! I am so thankful for your help!!!
  11. I have just started my journey as well. My first appt. is Tues. The only advice I can give is about the hospital stay. I am 26 and have had over 30 surgeries. (I got tired of counting!) Surgery is scary for most, but 99% of the time there will be no problems. With this in mind, I still get scared. Its normal. The hospital staff are usually very compassionate. Ask questions about everything. If you a low pain tolerance, don't wait until you are in too much pain to ask for medicine. The later you wait, the less the medicine will work. I am stubborn and refused pain medicine until the last minute and suffered unnecessarily for almost every surgery. I always ask what the nurse is doing, what is being put in my IV and anything else I can think of. Good luck and if you ever have any questions about hospitals, please feel free to ask me.

    New To Process

Hello, I am in the same position as you. I have my first appt. Tuesday and I just started (Last Month) my 6 month diet. I am very excited to get the surgery, but I hate the waiting. I have been considering this for about 4 years, I am now ready and willing, but the insurance has put the brakes on! I am so exicted to have found this site and read all the posts from everyone. Glad to hear your story and know I am not the only one in this position Christina Chadwell
