    Steak!

Nearly four months out and I can eat it so long as it's tender and chewed really well.
  2. Wow I had no idea it could be related to so many things. Thank goodness we have so many medically trained people on this forum. Thanks everyone for your replies.
  3. I'm five weeks post op. Going ok apart from nasty headache and dizziness upon standing. Drinking abou 1.2 - 1.5 litres of fluid per day, eating, meh, a bit. I've always had good blood pressure (around 110/60) and pulse rate (60pbm). In hospital my obs were 90/50 for blood pressure and 45 for pulse. I was hooked up to the IV for fluids and pain relief. The nurses didn't seem peturbed by this and I never asked my surgeon about it - assuming he read my charts when he visited. Now that I'm out of hospital I felt dizzy again this morning and had a bit of a headache. At the chemist I asked the assistant to take my blood pressure, thinking it might be high - 110/60 - great, but a bit on the low side (she said), but then she looked worried and said "Oh, but your pulse is 48.....are you diabetic?" No I'm not. Now I'm wondering what the h*ll is going on with my pulse. I'm obviously no athlete, my BMI is 34, my exercise is 45 minutes of brisk walking four days a week. Can anyone please shed some light on this? Thanks in advance!!

    Tomatoes - Realistically?

I eat tomatoes all the time.....but they do give me reflux unfortunately. I'm three months out.

    Hyperactive Pyloric Valve

Wow. Sorry I can't help, but good luck with this one. I'm interested in what other people have to offer.

    Determined But Scared

Sorry I can't help with the photo upload, but I can tell you that this isn't a decision to take lightly. I have fleeting moments of regret when I want to scarf a bowl of pasta...but then I remember that it was exactly that behaviour that led me to obesity. Overall I love my sleeve, but it has taken me a couple of months to get to that point. I didn't have any complications, just a bit of reflux, but you do need to get your head around the fact that your eating habits will change FOREVER! This isn't just a quick fix "I'll lose weight then go back to normal" type "diet" - it is forever removing 80% of your stomach. When you REALLY understand all of that and accept it, you're ready for your new life - a new Wonderful life.

    Worried About My Daughter

Here in Australia we are lucky that healthy eating is part of the school curriculum - starting in Primary school. That said, I believe it is important that children learn good habits in the home .... which is exactly where I learned all of my BAD habits. I'm determined this will not happen to my children.

    Always Hungry

Yep, I had this too. I had to change my PPI as it wasn't working. Even now I feel "hungry" sometimes, but it isn't real hunger. Real hunger often now presents as feeling light-headed and weak - THEN you know you have to eat. Everyone is different though, but the vast majority of us who experience hunger early out are experiencing a form of reflux.
  9. Yay for Amy kicking the dreaded fags....my doc said quitting was harder than giving up heroin (hopefully he didn't say that from personal experience...lol). It took me a good couple of months to feel "myself" again....without vague discomforts and fatigue (and vagueness). Now I feel like a completely refreshed and new version of my old self with a bucketload more energy. It wasn't an easy road, but it was definitely one worth taking. Congratulations.

    Discrimination :(

Sometimes people just suck. Sometimes our interpretation of the behaviours of others can be egocentric - that is their behaviours have nothing to do with us and more to do with what other things are happening in their lives. I'm guilty of being hypersensitive....sometimes my skin is thicker than others. The older I get the more I can shrug off people being sh*ts ... and more often I attribute their behaviour to them having a bad day - something I decide not to be a part of. We've all experienced it and it is easy to be offended, but if those d*cks really are having a go, then they are probably not the types of people you want as friends. This situation is one where I am happy to say age (I'm 42) has been hugely beneficial. We are all loved by somebody for reason's deeper than a pretty face.

    Please Read And Help!

Nope no sweating when I eat either - although I think it does happen when people "dump". Your doctor really sounds like an ass.
  12. Yes, they do treat me differently and it disgusts me. I was on a plane recently and when I needed to squeeze through to visit the loo people were kind and smiling and happy to adjust their stance so I could get through. Before, whien I was massive, I'd get eye rolling and lips curled in disdain. It's not just on planes, it is everywhere - shops, restaurants, just walking down the street. I am more confident, however I didn't consider myself hideous pre-weightloss - or deserving of general disdain. People can be so blatantly cruel.

    Please Read And Help!

I am with Patrick. This sounds dreadful. You also need to get back to the doctor to assess whether you still have infection or a possible leak elsewhere (causing sweats). On the other hand your tummy is obviously still healing after such a terrible time, so that may be the cause. Please get another opinion!
  14. Go sleeve. It may/may not be as fast as sleeve, but in my opinion there are less risks in the short and long term.

    Reflux

Yep, reflux! It's a bummer. Ask your doctor about ppi pills to control it.
  16. Yep. You've got nothing to be sad about girl. You're a success.

Did I Make A Mistake In My Clear Liquids Stage?

You're fine. I was on shakes immediately post op. I also used straws with no ill affects. Of course it is always best to take the advice of your doctor above that found here.

    Is It True

Can only speak from my experience and what I've read .... Basically the thinner you get the harder you have to work to get it off. I was a relative lightweight (about 209) when I started pre op diet in Feb and I'm now 169. The biggest slab of weight came off during the 4-5week pre-op diet (about 20lbs). Now I'm struggling to lose a pound a week. It kind of goes up and down. My exercise has petered out a bit so I need to move more. If you're a bit heavier to begin with you'll find the weight will fly off (apparently) in big chunks....as you get smaller the weightloss will slow down. It must come down to calories....smaller people need less calories to maintain than bigger ones....hence it's harder to lose weight! I hope that explains it. Someone else might be able to explain it better!

    Ughhhh

Pre op I used to go to bed early ALL the time and(with great difficulty) try to ignore the stomach growls!
  20. HI Cynthia I'm really glad to see you've gone back to runny foods 'cause as soon as I read your post I thought "she's not ready for the next stage yet." Take it easy but when in doubt call the doc!
  21. Yes, what those two said! Also I've heard some people just vomit bile. Generally it is severe pain and fever. It is also VERY rare.
  22. So pleased for you. It may seem strange but we're all on this roller coaster together, so when something goes wrong for someone we all feel it! Good luck

    Sizes Have Changed

I may be wrong, but I think this has to do with the high protein diet. I'm the same when it comes to shape. I'm a lot leaner at this weight now than I was in my teens. Perhaps it's age too (hope not ).
  24. PollyBlue

    Soooo Disappointed!

Why is that? Why would they not allow you to serve? So strange. I feel for you.

    Flu Or Stomach

I'm thinking the fat in the hashbrowns would be playing merry hell with your tummy.
