  1. Yes! I have. I was four and a bit weeks post op and taking Pariet once in the morning. Suddenly it hit me. This awful feeling of lava moving around not only my oesophagus, but also around my tummy. I felt AWFUL and very flat. My gp (pcp) thought I may have H.pylori, but I had been tested for that - negative. My surgeon was going to give me an endoscopy when he decided to try upping my dose of Pariet. I worked my way up to FOUR tablets per day, plus Mylanta and it wasn't doing a thing. He tried Nexium (20mgx2 per day) and that worked after about three days. Still each morning I can feel the urkie feeling in my chest, but it goes away after I take the Nexium. Antacids like Mylanta are useless with our Industrial Strength Acid Reflux!! One tip I was given was to take Nexium on an empty stomach and wait an hour before eating. Also take it at night after dinner, but don't eat within two hours of bedtime. Refried beans tend to make mine a lot worse! Hope this helps.

    2Weeks Out

Does your doctor know you're doing this? Maybe this is a joke. It is VERY dangerous to eat foods before your poor swollen little tummy is ready. You may end up in ER with a potentially fatal leak. If your doctor has given you guidelines, stick to them. It is hard and we all hate going through the stages but they are there for a reason. Cheating is not funny, it is stupid.

    I Need Help

Don't let your husband be an enabler. This is your body. You know when you're healthy and at what weight. Having said that you can't blame your husband for your own bad eating choices. We all slip up and hit plateaus. I'm in one right now. You'll get back into the swing, and like the others have said you've lost a truckload of weight - you know what to do!!

    32 Vs. 34?

Apparently there is not much of a difference at all. In the "olden" days they used to use 42fr bougie or larger, now I think a 34-38 is considered the norm...in Australia anyway. There was some talk a while ago (years) that the larger bougies were safer, but very little of that around now. Some doctors use a larger bougie and then oversew, which makes it marginally smaller, but seriously there is not a hell of a lot of difference. There is a picture doing the rounds on the web of textas and pens lined up, representing bougie sizes and its a little hard to tell the difference between them.

    Gall Bladder Issues?

I'd suggest taking it up with your surgeon. Are you on acid reducers. You may need to up your dose or try another brand. I had the same sort of pains and it was reflux. All better now, thanks to Nexium.
  6. Yes, there are gazillions of meal plans, meal replacements and diet books - all of which work. Until you stop. There are also pills to reduce hunger - fibre pills and amphetamines. These also work. Until you stop. Most of us here have tried some, if not all the above methods - and failed in the end.
