That was a general question that i did not ask my doc during my visit and was following up on the info board? I am not planning on over eating and well aware of the danger i am already in...obviously if i ran into the issue prior and was not aware that i was overeating WITH RESTRICTION...i have alot of anxiety about the risk of overeating with lower restriction. But thanks for the laughs and support everyone. This makes me really want to be open in the future. Wow.

I had all the liquid taken out of my band last month because i over ate and caused a dilation. With no liquid....can the band still slip if i eat too much?

I am also feeling alot of anxiety. My husband had the duodenal switch in april and has lost 60 lbs. I know its easier for people that have more weight to lose...to lose it quicker..because his eating WAS drastically changed/hindered. While i am happy for him...he had lots if medical issues..i get a little ticked off that i still have to work so hard. On the "lighter" side though...i think i made a better choice getting the band. While its high maintenance, i do not have the horrible bathroom issues he will have for the rest of his life, not subject to taking 8 plus Vitamins a day for the rest of my life, hair loss, and a host of other issues. So i guess we are both paying the price for our decisions...

Everyone has been so nice here. I also stopped logging my food in myfitness pal because i got tired of seeing no results. I got lots of support from friends, but also felt like i was not making progress. It got harder when i found out that my metab was slow and could no longer "eat" the calories accumulated from exercising. Just so hard....anyhooo...heres my.next question...and then i am out for my.morning attempt at jogging! Was not breaking a sweat walking anymore...even walking fast!. I had the Fluid takrn out of my band on aug 1. Liquids for seven days, soft foods for 7 days....a week lapse before i was due to go back for barium swallow to see if dilation was fixed. Well, i had to reschedule for work issues and the next available date is Sept. 17th!!! I can tell i have already been eating my bad ways and definatley not measuring...since i have no liquid in the band, am i still in danger of a slip? I am worried about this and cant get in to the doc, but i also cant will myself to be strict until my appointment. Fighting hunger and no restriction...all the reasons i got the band in the first place. No self control!

Thanks for the kind words! Im working on. I have to work out this rough patch of depression and get back on track. One thing i did learn is that my work outs have not been as productive as they should be. I have to break a sweat. Until now, i have been stopping as soon as i get tired..very little sweat. I think i will see some results when i push myself.

I just dont know what to do other than accept that i will be battling my weight for the resg of my life. I think the band may have been a bad choice for me. After getting my metabolism checked it made more sense to me. Even on the two week atkins style diet prior to surgery, i did not lose a pound! I only lose when i am exercising. That should have been a sign for me that i really didnt need surgery. I need to watch WHAT I eat AND work out....the old school way to losing weight. Instead, i thought I was taking the easy way out and now i am extremely depressed and disappointed with the outcome. I was 5'2, 220 before surgery. 2 weeks after i had liquid removed, i went down to 188 and now back at 196. Small changes in weight. Now that i dont have liquid in my band i am overeating again. I dont want to go through the pain and agony of having the surgery reversed and dont want to get the sleeve or one if those other surgeries that require low maintenance..but being on pills or in the bathroom for the rest of my life.

liquid diet and high Protein for 2 Weeks! Barium test and xrays today showed that regularly eating too much aggravated and expanded my stomach pouch above the band and now can't have another fill till the dilation goes down. They took out all of the liquid today! And, resting metabolism testing showed that my metabolism has slowed to almost nil.. I burn @600 cals less than I should when not moving at all~meaning my workouts are only burning half of what I need to! My workout average burn is about 3~400cals,at most. THAT is why my weight loss has been slower than most! So, now I am on a strict liquid diet to fix dilation, my cals have been cut to no more than 1000/per day, o HAVE to get in at least 60 grams of protein a day, AND I was instructed that eating my workout cals earned is not wise for me right now due to my metabolism! What a day...

My doc recommends full.fluids first day after a fill, soft mushy 2nd day. Also, 2.5 to 5 seems pretty aggressive? Usually I get only a few cc at a time

I am not even losing one lb per week. Not sure if it is my docs office or not, but I feel like they are all about the money. I used to go in monthly for fills and eval. when I hit a plateau, they suggested I go to the nutritionist and have my metabolism checked, but at an additional charge. In my opinion, if I need to see the nutritionist as part of my post OP planning, it should not be more money. On too of that, the nurse told.me that if my metabolism is slow, it did not matter how much or how little I eat, the weight is not going to come off without massive exercise. Which leads me back to thinking....why wouldn't they run those tests before surgery so I could have made an informed decision. I did my research prior to surgery, however, none of the studies or material mentioned slow metab being a HUGE issue. Basically, I am scarred from the surgery....did not find out I keloid until post OP. So those "tiny" scars that everyone else has have turned into HUGE ugly scars on my stomach. I am still ,counting calories and Carbs, with very little self control. The main reasons I under went this surgery. Disappointed.
